At the time this was made a hotswap version of the RK61 was available. The stabs are hit and miss on both models and to be fair if you're a box user who's not going to lube... You get what you get. That said if you're a modder I'd lean towards the RK but that's just preference.
Spectacular video, finally someone who explains the video just and necessary. compared to other videos this man don't try to scratch the minutes and that's really welcome
Thanks! You just made me decide which keyboard I will be getting. I'll go for the RK61 cause it's cheaper, the typing experience of switches is good. Guess I'll just change the stabilizers
I honestly think having the controls on the side of the Redragon is a downside: It doesn't look as clean. It's not a big hassle to turn over the RK61 and flip the switch(at least IMO). I agree with the rest of your assessment, to me the RK61 feels better to type on(I have one) and I don't mind the stabilizers(they actually sound better than my stock Keychron K4 stabs). I haven't tried a K530 to compare, but I prefer the RK61's rgb and switch placement. If the RK61 had the simplistic case design of the K530 and had better stabs it would be perfect.
@@justinkempkes1313 they fit every akko switches but not the pros. cutting of the pins will help it go in but it doesn't actually fit with the sound you know ? so it's like it's in but it's not actually fully in. so whatever akko switches you buy please do not buy the pro
Insane bro🔥🔥 Absolutely love the content so helpful dude I recently bought the redragon k530, and it's doing me pretty good so far! I only use it for gaming
@@jikenwinx Yes👍 Still using this keyboard. I lubed the spacebar recently and it sounds and feels so much better! Really good keyboard, I've used it for almost one year now
I have the rk.. I agree the bottom mounted switches are a major negative. Now, I have the 2.4ghz/bt/usb version with full RGB. Since I'm using the 2.4ghz dongle, its not a big deal. I do use a magnetic usb C plug so I an remove the cable and swap it out to my headphones, etc... same diff. My RK is hotswap, so there is that. I've put gateron ks9's in it, and outemu honey peach silents on it... I also have one of the older rk's as well (BT/wired, full RGB) and I've desoldered it and put in some gateron yellow pros in there... IF I was switching back and forth between wired / BT more frequently, I'd take the time to actually replace the bottom switches on the RK and move them into the side (possibly some flush mount latching switches since it's just on / off).
As of rn I would say rk is a better choice by now there is a hot swappable 5pin rgb and the stabilizer could now be fixed with a holee mod and that is gonna take like roughly 5minutes with only a bandaid
How is USB port on a side worse? Having it there lets you use it wired but it will look and feel like much more wireless than the one with a port up there.
Splendid content Sir, totally loved it. I have a request that, would you please make a video on the keyboard Bloody B820R and do it's review and also make it compete with other great keyboards?
That just means the connector takes all the stress. I prefer an easy to unplug cable (I have magnetic adapters on my keyboards, and headphones, and my tablets, and for a short while, even my laptop). I pull the keyboard too hard, and the cable disconnects cleanly with no damage to either the cable or the usb port or plug... Same idea as the macbook magsafe connectors ...
I bought both before seeing this review! The k530 arrow keys are just too annoying for me, don't think I'll ever get used to WASD...at the same time Fn and ? for / is annoying when I'm using it in linux :/ keeping both as I can't make my mind up haha

Redragon's keyboards mostly use Outemu PCB sockets so even if it's hot-swappable, it can't 100% fit and compatible with other switches rather than Outemu. You will have to clip and trim the switch's pins in order for it to fit the Outemu thin sockets.
Hey @ConsumerTechReview now that each has come out with a newer model, which do you recommend the new RK61 Plus or the K530 Pro? (keeping in mind I will replace the switches regardless)
bro can you do tecware b68 vs rk84? Love your vs vids they are really my go to. Also quite a dilemma on picking between these two. Hope you could help 😅 Thanks!

The new current version of the rk61 has the usb-c port on the back left and has hot swappable sockets.

Purpose of USB-C port on the side: avoids accidental detachment when pulling the keyboard/cable - I think

Redragon's keyboards mostly use Outemu PCB sockets so even if it's hot-swappable, it can't 100% fit and compatible with other switches rather than Outemu. You will have to clip and trim the switch's pins in order for it to fit the Outemu thin sockets.
