i'm a die hard Bulldog fan, and I really started to feel bad for TCU. We have had it happen to us before on the big stage plenty of times, so with a good coach this will make them stronger. @Jabari Bryant Nothing will ever be as bad as a 58 point loss in a championship. Heck, Georgia was partying in the 4th quarter. If Kirby wanted, Georgia could've beaten them 93-7. That game in the 1990's was 38-7, and Florida didn't scoring in the 4th. This was 65-7, while Kirby had 3rd and 4th stringers playing. Losing by 31 points, while it's still a blowout, is not as bad as losing by 58, and could've been much worse. People wouldn't be taking about it like this if it was a 30 point loss. TCU literally stood NO CHANCE. TCU wasn't that good, while Georgia was.

No excuse for Ole Miss except the observation that this yr in the SEC showed me that three teams (TN, LSU, Ole Miss) played their entire season for one reason: to beat Bama. Disgusting, you say? Yep. Proof?
LSU after putting themselves in the outside looking in for playoff...got blown out by A&M (no-show) and then blown out by UGA.
TN? After Bama, no contest vs UGA and beat worse by SC. All TN had to do was get a one-point win vs SC and they were #4. Gave up 63 pts. That's called a no-show.
Kiffin? After Bama loss, gets utterly humiliated in a no-show vs Ark, then not close vs State or Tex Tech (-3 1/2). Kiffin went to Miss for one reason: to piss on Saban's season. Once that game over...big yawn.

I was not able to watch either of the semi-final games. I did get a chance to hear something Coach Smart said in a post-game interview. He did not look happy and you could see his unhappiness in his face and eyes. I can't remember the exact words, but it was something like "we have to clean up some things?" I played on 2 State Championship teams and a State runner-up team. I remember like it was yesterday the words spoken OVER 45 years ago by our head coach after a near loss. "I'm putting your starters on notice" He made a gesture with his fingers to show closeness. "You are this close to not being starters again". Even Nick Saban made a comment after their loss to Georgia last year that basically said if you want playing time you have better step up. The primary difference between a championship coach and a pretender is that championship coach is NOT bluffing when they make a playing time threat to a non-producing starter. I suspect that Coach Smart got that point across to his starters.

Hey Folks. Very good analysis from both these guys. I must say too that I could be wrong but Georgia has to me a Golden State Warrior vibe. I say this because Golden State made the playoffs for years and just couldn't get over the hump. Steve Kerr took over for Mark Jackson and the Warriors just look like they were tired of losing. When a good team gets tired of losing, they often start doing things that (playing great defense & moving the ball) changes their culture. Georgia has always recruited well but just couldn't get over the Alabama hump! That has now changed!!!

Stupid comment with these "oh they shouldn't have made it." There's been several blowouts in national championships, with many teams deserving of the spot. Same in NFL. Broncos got spanked 55 to 10 in the 1989 Super Bowl. They got crushed by the Seahawks in the 2013 Super Bowl. But in both Super Bowls they earned their spot. TCU's lose last night is not an indictment on the Big 12 cuz loses are complicated. Your comment doesn't even take into account the fact that Ohio State almost beat Georgia last week, yet Ohio State lost to the team who lost to TCU. And Ohio State didn't even have their best TE against Georgia. So what point were you trying to make?!?!
To help you with your comment, college football overall was down this year, heck I think the Big 12 was better last year than this year, despite the parity in the league this year. Big Ten was down this year. Pac 12 was up this year, but that shows how bad the conference has been in the last few years. And the SEC has teams who know how to prepare for the big stage.
