A comment that I have gotten more than once when on a path, relates to my blinking light. I use a very bright blinking light on the front of my bike. I aim it down to the ground so it doesn't flash directly in people's faces in cars. It is still bright so it is definitely noticeable by anyone in front of me. It isn't needed when I get on a walking/bike path, but I never remember to turn it off (and if I did remember to turn it off on a path I probably wouldn't remember to turn it back on when I get on the road). So the comment I get is usually something like; "Please turn off that blinking light!" I still haven't got the comment, "E-Bikes are NOT ALLOWED on this bike path!"
I ride on the street a lot, so I usually use the blinking lights so that oncoming traffic can see me. While some find it annoying, at least I'm still alive while riding my bike.

Rain, rain, go away! Here in Alabama we've had our cold days, burt the trend is for warmer weather-and rain. I don't ride in the rain if it can be avoided, or on wet roads. I learned my lesson the hard way, twice on the same ride. Asphalt roads that are still damp from rain aren't bad. The problem is getting to them. I live on a dirt/gravel road. When red clay is wet, it is like riding on an oil slick. I'm riding a fat tire ebike with knobby treads. What happens, is the rear wheel spins and the bike goes into a tail spin. Clay mixed with one inch gravel is not a surface that you want to land on. I'm hoping it dries out enough to go for a ride tomorrow. If not, my next window of opportunity will be Thursday. I'm still planning on going for a ride from Sylacauga to Weogufka and back for my next ride, and now I want to explore Grants Quarry too. I'll probably drive the Grants Quarry route in my car first to familiarize myself with my planned route. I'd hate to get lost and not have enough power in reserve to get back. I have bad knees among other health issues. I have hills to climb, and my routes are generally 20 miles or longer.

Hello Russ, I've been riding everyday all winter including during a few snowstorms, it's my only means of transportation right now, PEI is close enough to Nova Scotia so that we usually have the same weather, I fell a few times before and after I released some air out of my tires, usually when I hit a tire mark when crossing an intersection~ ....we are sure having a mix bag here Russ but it hasn't been that cold -12C or 10F at it's worse, not including those wind chills that can change the whole scenario.
During my bike "research"...have noticed most E-bikes are capable of handling +/- 350# or so? Glad to hear glucose numbers coming down +weight loss...Stay Safe, Ride Safer...Aloha from Hawaii
Good Afternoon Russ. Good video, I was watching it while washing my e-bike. I Can't hear anything from ur bike rattling, ur mic is too good, in fact I don't even hear the wind. So, yesterday when I was in town, I locked my bike, you see I use the bottom part of my e-bike so you don't see the lock. Well this guy who always sits outside of the store told me this homeless girl tried to take my bike and when she tried, she realized it was locked and my alarm went off, she looked scared and ran away. Anyways Thank You and Always Ride Safe 😎
Love your videos Russ! The scale will not show you health improvements, just your weight. You are an avid cyclist so you are building muscle as you are losing fat. Hey Russ wondering if WD-40 took care of that squeaky suspension spring in the back. Glad you didn't run into the Male Karen from your last video, one of the reasons to minimize riding the trails and stay on the streets. Keep being Right Russ👍
Haven’t sprayed it yet. It is in the house so I didn’t want to smell up the house with it. I will do it before the next time I take it out and hope the smell disappears before the end of the ride.
I’m headed out for an early ride in the western Colorado mountains. it should be nice this morning, almost 50 degrees. And then wind and snow this afternoon. 🚴♀️😊 ~Janine
Hey Russ: Where I live, there are three major trails (connected) that require a trail pass to ride each year ($20/yr) and essentially is a form of registration without any info on my bike. Without a pass you could possibly be fined $10. I also carry ebike insurance. I have just one ebike and if it gets stolen or damaged, I have replacement coverage so I can get a new one. Plus, I'm covered if I hit someone or something and cause damage. I know I pay for these things voluntarily and most riders probably don't, but I have greater peace of mind while out on my bike, plus I know my $20 trail pass fee helps maintain the trails and it's good for most trails around WI. Also, I read yesterday where head injuries from riding ebikes are occurring more frequently because fewer ebikers are wearing helmets and they are often referred to as 'kids.' There's a big difference in going 10 mph on a regular bike and 28 mph on an ebike and resultant injuries. This is why quality head gear is so important. All this talk of regulation doesn't bother me much because I'm already self-regulated to some extent and follow rules on the trail and the road which are not onerous. Enjoyed your ride.
Russ that does sound like a suspension squeak 🐁 my Suntour NCX suspension seatpost does that when it gets dirty. Also my seatpost shim some times. Good to take them out of the seat tube, and wipe it down and regrease it once in a while. If a rack is loose that could do it too. Definitely sounds related to bumps . When my seatpost is squeaking i can bounce up and down on it and its a dead giveaway.
Yes, it is the spring on the rear suspension. After investigation, I found that it is the spring. I am probably going to use WD-40 brand of garage lube on it.
@@RussIsRight WD40 is not ideal to be used as a long term lubricant because it has a detergent in it that will evaporate which loses the slipperyness. It got its name from Water Displacement test V30. Use axel grease, white lithium or GP grease instead. They will do a better job and last longer.
Thanks for these videos, they are relaxing, fun and informative. I just got my ebike and I've been critized as lazy by one family member and one friend. And I don't even have a car 😅

Her's only squeaked when the rear suspension moved. The bike could be perfectly still, and put a little weight on it and squeak. It really bugged her because it squeaked on ever bump.
