  • Happy New Year everyone!!
    For the first tutorial of the year I've decided to make this fleece lined puffer jacket for my baby girl since the weather is still cold out here in the windy city.
    Just to note this tutorial can work for any size jacket you choose to make your pattern with.
    Enjoy!
    Materials:
    1 1/2 yards of ripstop nylon (waterproof) - Joanns
    1 1/2 yards of fox print fleece for lining - Joanns
    1 small pack of quilt batting - Wal-Mart
    14" separating zipper - Joanns
    Sewing machine: Singer Quantum Stylist 9960

    Wow! as a guy completely new to sewing I wanted to make a pea coat. after watching a few videos to see what I was going to be facing I must say it’s a little more difficult than I imagined but not impossible. This video helped me out a lot. The directions were clear and concise and the visuals were excellent as well. Great project!

    Completely practical. Absolutely love. This will save me a ton of money in the future. My grams and aunt both got Alzheimer's before they could teach me how to use a sewing machine. Yet, ur videos help alot. So thank you for the share.

    As a fashion designer, this jacket was the best one I have seen, sewn very well 👌 the one thing I can say is the lining needs to be a a inch bigger, could see the jacket pulling back... oylther than that good content, instructions very clear to understand.

    OMG, my 18 year old nephew and sister bought me a new sewing machine for Christmas and he’s obsessed with puffer jackets. I would love to try making him one but I’m sure I would end up making him a Gordon Gartrelle puffer instead. 😂😂😂 I’ve only been sewing since August of 2020 so I’m super new to it. Great video though!!!

    Do you have a video on a kids reversible jacket?

  • @pamcraftsandtreats
    @pamcraftsandtreats 2 роки тому

    first and foremost this was the most simplest one i watched today. you sort of lost me when you did the elastic, but I will go back and look at that again verse using rib knit as a finish. one question when you tuck the liner back in sleeve after the elastic, what is stop the child when they push their hand thru, that lining edge coming out?

    • @ForeSeeLove
      @ForeSeeLove  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Pamela! Thanks so much for watching! Yes, go over as many times as you need and let me know if you have any questions. As far as the lining, my daughter never had any issues with it for the duration of her time wearing the jacket. 🙂

    How would you do this with ribbed knit for the waist and the cuffs

    • @ForeSeeLove
      @ForeSeeLove  6 років тому

      Hello Ashlee! With ribbed knit cuffs I'd measure around the wrist plus seam allowance for the length. For width I'd make it the same 3in (you can make it as wide as you like). Then I would prepare and attach the cuffs the same way (minus the elastic) and you'd have to stretch to fit (zig zag stitch) all the way around. Hope that made sense. 😊

    • @ForeSeeLove

      With Wendy has a bomber jacket tutorial that could probably better explain including the waistband. Check the link out ua-cam.com/video/SREN6aR1V7w/v-deo.html 😊

    Lovely .. Do I need to use a walking foot for sewing all these layers ? Plus u didnt mention the straight stitch length and if u used a special needle for the nylon fabric ?

    • @ForeSeeLove
      @ForeSeeLove  4 роки тому

      Hello Jazmine! I actually didn't use my walking foot at all. Although, it wouldn't have hurt to use it. I just used the standard needle that's used for the machine. I also used the default stitch length that's set on the machine. I'm not sure what it is off the top of my head though. Hope this helps. 😊

    Absolutely AMAZING tutorial ‼️ Very easy to follow!! THANK you for this🙌🏽. If I wanted to make am adult version would I still use the same 3 inch measurements between the stitching lines?

    • @ForeSeeLove
      @ForeSeeLove  5 років тому +1

      Hello Jenell! Thank you! Actually you can make those measurements as wide as you like. I just used 3 inches because that was my preference, but you can use what measurement for the width that looks and feels right for you. Hope that helps! 😊

  • @holly8444

    I'm not quite understanding the elastic cuff. So the batting/rough edge seem will show?

    • @ForeSeeLove
      @ForeSeeLove  3 роки тому

      Hello Holly! To answer your question, yes. However, I did cut the batting down about an inch I believe so it would cut the bulk down. You can also finish the raw edge with a serger or an overlock stich to prevent fraying and for a cleaner look. Hope that helps. 🙂
