I am a believer! Almost 3 weeks out from surgery & can already see dramatic improvement. Still a bit puffy on upper lids, but no more hooded lids! Thank you, Dr. Niamtu!
Thanks so much, you are a great patient.
Best explanation I have heard. Thank you for discussing the brow lift option.
Glad it was helpful!
Very comprehensive explanation. We appreciate your expertise.
Thanks
EXCELLENT EXPLANATION DR JOE, GREAT SURGEON ! THE BEST !

@@shujaatali3455 You need to speak with your surgeon.
These videos give me some relief from the stress I have about my upcoming facelift/eyelid surgery. I wish I could come to you, but my doctor says he does procedures similar to how you do. Thank you!
Thanks
JUST GREAT INFO! YOU'RE A WONDERFUL RESOURCE, DOC!
I’m glad I watched this video thank you for the best advice
My pleasure
Thank you very much Dr. Joe!
Thanks!
Dr Niamtu ...I am having a face.lift procedure in the fall...my surgeon, who I trust fully, was going to be doing the neck and face...however, since the injections I’ve gotten around my eyes to help lift the brow are wearing down and I’ve noticed this...I don’t think it’s an eyelid surgery I need , but I’m not sure what procedure it is or what video of yours I should be watching to see what is done... I see my doctor in a few weeks to add this procedure... I may as well do it now while I’m having a facelift ...thank you kindly...love your videos Dr. So informative 😊
Thanks Deb, You doc will know what to do, but almost all my facelift patients have simultaneous lid surgery.
I suffered same problem after facelift my lower lid getting dark then face what to do
Thank you doc for this very informative video.
My pleasure
Results look great!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you Doctor. 🙏. Gray Wolf.
You are very welcome
Thank you kindly 😊
Great information.

Thank you
Thanks for watching
wow !! extremely informative
Thanks
I am so glad that you have such a good technical way and experience to do the blepharoplasty surgery. Unfortunately you are too far from me. Are you able to recommend any good surgeon in Philadelphia area to me? Thanks
Philly to RIchmond is 45 min direct flight :)
@@jniamtuiii don't we have follow up visit.? Is there any chance of infection or complications?
@@vivianwatt1271 Usually don't need a second visit. Complications are always possible but very rare.
Thanks a lot for the info, you talked about using it sedation, I went for a consultation to have my blepharoplasty surgery but they want to use general instead of IV sedation. It’s that ok. I’m worry about since is only lower blepharoplasty. Thanks again
I think the anesthesia is of not concern in healthy patients. I do most of mine with general
Joe Niamtu thanks for the info I never had any kind of surgical procedure before and makes ma nervous
Very informative and thorough explanation doc. I am currently thinking about having upper eyelid surgery due to hooded eye lids and you have given me much to consider. My lacrimal gland on my left lid appears to be larger than my right lid and therefore looks swollen...The appearance bothers me more and more. I would also like to know how successful this surgery is on you patients of color? Have you had any patients that keloid after surgery? I am very fair-skinned but it is of concern to me.
I noticed your credentials at the end of the video...DMD. Do you do many oral/maxillofacial surgeries? I ask because I am an RDH and one of my mentors in college was an Oral surgeon.
I currently reside in Houston, TX but would like to know if you have any recommendations on surgeons in my area? Thank you in advance. 😁😁
Thanks T, I do many patients with pigmented skin, sometimes takes a little longer for scar to settle, but never a keloid, pretty rare with eyelid skin. Yes, my original training is OMS :) Don't know anyone in Huston.
@@jniamtuiii thank you so much for your response. I appreciate your input. I may just have to travel to VA for my surgery. 😁😁
:)
Tanks doc
I was going to do the old teq
But not anymore
Thanks for watching. There are many safe ways to do this, the laser works best for me.
How do you receive a consultation if you live out of state ? What is the consultation and the actual procedure costs
I am happy to look at pictures send them to info@lovethatface.com
Question, Doctor, can you recommend a doctor in the Sarasota, Florida, area that performs this laser type eye lid surgery you have discussed in this video? I wish I could go to Virginia to have it done, but not possible...
Can you use cool sculpt to freeze the fats in the lower eye bag?
No, that would not work. Maybe someday. Thanks for watching.
Great video thanx. Would cheek implants NOT be performed at the same time as this? Would one get in the way of the other?
We frequently do implants with eyelids, it completes the job, but some people don't want or don't need them. Thanks for watching.
Great! Thanx for the response.
does anyone know about the cost for laser procedure?
Fees are on our website www.lovethatface.com
I am ur suscriber,
Shujaat Ali thanks
Is this laser ok for Black skin, just seen a couple Black faces in the video, is the same technique used.
You can't laser pigmented skin aggressively or it can be permanently lighter or darker. I do light laser on some patients. Thanks for watching.
Was discouraging for my reply to fail but went something like this. Is sad the pts. Would not want to show us your notified talent rather than to apply makeup, eyebrow plucking & more to show off their BEAUTY no matter how gratifying that can be. Your superb work is also your beauty so I suggested taking 3 photos from say 100 pts. One b/4 & 2nd one after pic, with no embelishments at all & a 3rd that they provide at their expense if they want us to see how gorgeous they are fter they apy their makeup adding to your talent cuz we want to see that too & know the expense on you if you had to pay for extra photos. After all, we only see what the woman give us EVERYDAY anyway after makeup. I want to see what "YOU do & their plucking eyebrows, covering blemishes, & smiling in after pics robs me of making the right choice. If their makeup after pics enhances your work, then I am Leary of you & am seeing the best it can get. I want to see what it would look like with zero, none made a makeup when I am home with my husband. What is he going to see. That's what counts to me.
What is the difference between doing the lower eyelid procedure with a plastic surgeon against a oculoplast surgeon?
Thanks for watching and reasonable question. The title of the doctor is not what matters, the training, experience and outcome of the specific surgeon is what matters. There are plastic surgeons, ENT Surgeons, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Oculoplastic Surgeons, Dermatologists that do great facelifts.. There are many plastic surgeons that do cosmetic surgery, but some do very little and do mostly reconstructive. Any experienced facelift surgeon should be able do show hundreds of their cases. Patient safety and predictable outcomes are what makes the difference in the end.
Thanks for your reply, wasn't sure you still on UA-cam as you know others purchase older channels & hook up with original surgeon to piggyback off their success. It's unfortunate that pts. not willing to comply to help pass on work well done. Shows their pride for us to see their BEAUTY & not what they initially say the surgery was for like "I want to look like I feel, not tired & worn down when it was really for beauty. Selfish to rob the talented sugeon of his due. Just a thought, take 3 photos of a very select few, one b/4, one after & one with makeup (as dramatic as the pt. wishes & we would like to see that too & what we can add to what you have done, but if the pt.does this in the after pic, to us it looks as good as it gets cuz we see the plucked eyebrows & covering of skin damage & the lighting changes & FEAR that's all we're going to get out of it too. Makes us only hope we chose the right surgeon & what if our makeup makes no difference. I love makeup, does wonders but I want the surgeon to do wonders before my makeup goes on. Then it will be worth it to me, but if I don't trust the surgeon more than the after pics then I'm not going to choose him. That's all.
what is you need lacrimal gland repositioning?
It is usually a simple suspension to it normal position.
You are an incredible doctor! Do you ever operate near Orange County Ca? Or do I have to come to Virginia to see you?
Thanks for the compliment. I only operate in Virginia, but see a lot of California patients. Dr. J
Are the eye lids sewn shut after the procedure?
No they are not
If someone felt as though, even before they got the more hooded sagging from age, their eyes were on the small side, would it be possible to do the upper and lower blepharoplasty while also increasing the size of the eye (slightly)?
Blepharoplasty does not actually make the eye opening bigger, it just appears more defined when excess skin, fat and muscle are removed. Thanks for watching.
Hello why would a surgeon only decide to take skin out? I am 29 w hooded eyes. Why not muscle?
Not sure, you would have to ask your doc. Thanks for watching.
I want the lower eye bag corrected. I have had fat fillers in my face that have worked great but I have hollow eyes with small bags, I'm 39, is this to young . I like the way you explain things and the way you go about your surgeries. This is a long shot but if you know any surgeons in Lafayette la that are similar to you please let me know
Thanks for watching, I don't know anyone there, but I am sure there are good ones.
Is there a Lazer that gets rid if bags under eyes or the only permanent way is the have them surgically removed
no laser for fat removal yet, still has to be surgically removed, but we do use the laser for that
How do the eyes usually look after Years of the proceedure? Do they age the same after that after taking the fat out? And thanks so much for responding. I am going to schedule a consult with a p.s. soon bit wanted to get as much info as possible before
we never take out all the fat, just the excess
Dr.joe, do you have a Recovery Center where your patients can spend a week or so, where they may receive care as opposed to going home, and being on their own in regard to their recovery?
We use local hotels and Nurse caregivers, do it every week. Thanks for watching.
I have done eyelid surgery for three times but not successful and now with droopy eyelid .Making one eye bigger than the other by 2mm is the any advice for future surgery to rectify .Thanks
Sorry to hear you had problems. Eyelid surgery can be complex, you probably should consult with an oculoplastic surgeon to sort out and fix your problems.
How long do I have to stay in Virginia to have sutures removed after
2 days, sutures are dissolvable, bring it :)
I had my upper blepharoplasty done 2 weeks ago. My scars are still raised, grooved, lumpy and bumpy. I can't cover these texturized scars with makeup, I tried. I'm taking 3 weeks off from work because of it.
Do you have any tips Doctor?
I appreciate any feedback.
hopefully your doctor told you that they all look like that and they will heal fine, very unusual for them not to, they all look like that at first.
@@jniamtuiii He said everything looks fine. I know that any surgery comes with a scar, just wasn't expecting how big they actually would look like. I viewed many videos and before and after pictures and all the scars shown were imperceptible...I didn't expect to take that much time off from work and hoping I won't need an extended time off beyond 3 weeks...ugh...
The hooded eyes are gone, but I'm worried that this surgery introduced another issue I didn't expect...scars and a lot of time off from work...
Thank you Doctor for your reply. I appreciate it.
what is the everage price for this upper blepharoplasty please? Can it done under local? Also I saw somewhere where the eye fat in the corner of the eye is rich in stam cells and the surgeon trimed it but used it to prevent the hollowness...? Would you recommended that as well?
Thanks for watching. Fees are on my site www.lovethatface.com under patient info.
I don't do eyelid surgery awake, all of my patients are sedated. I feel it is easier for the patient and I can do a better job. We sometimes use the removed fat for other filling, but it is pea sized fat, so not a lot of volume.
@@jniamtuiii Thank you!
HI DR JOE THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATION.WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH FOR THE UPPER AND LOWER EYE LID? AND WERE IS YOURE CLINIC LOCATED AT?
I am in Richmond Virginia, fees are on www.lovethatface.com
I could not find the fees in the website
45 minutes local anesthesia ? Awake but what if I wanted brow lift how much longer and rill I still be awake
All my patients are asleep. Browlift with eyelids takes 90 min.
If you have high cheek bones would a cheek lift fill in the orbitalrim area .?
That won't be effective for what you want.
I’m 60 years old..just had this upper eyelid surgery done three weeks ago ..still can’t feel my eyelid it feels numb ..I wish I never had it done !
I bet it works out just fine, just keep in touch with your surgoen.
@@jniamtuiii I hope so doc..ty for reaching out 😊
If 3 weeks of being numb is enough to male you regret it, then you probably were a poor candidate (psychologically/emotionally) for any type of cosmetic surgery. It is very normal and expected.
@@lge2487 You should discuss with your surgeon. The feeling usually returns.
@@lge2487 it’s going away now but u know what’s happening..right where he cut ...there like these little hard white things growing on the line where he cut the eyelid..I asked my doctor what that was today . He said it was cholesterol bumps ...weird huh!
Hi Dr. Joe! I'm interested in an upper eyelid surgery! Wanted ask you what is the recovery time? When I could I go back to work that I can apply eye makeup to cover? Thank you
How long do the results of almond eye surgery last??? Is it permenant???
Sorry, I don't do it or recommend it.
Thanks for uploading it is a very informative video!
I have very weak mid-face and under eye hollowness and I'm only 27 years old. I guess I have this issue genetically even though I wear sunscreen every single day. would cheek implants be able to resolve the issue? also, my father has loose skin under his eyes. What is the suitable laser to tighten it up? we have ethnic skin (middle eastern).
Thanks for your time!
Thanks , we really don't laser pigmented skin as it can make it permanently lighter or darker. If you are 27 you have some time before you need treatment.
@@jniamtuiii Thanks for your answer Doc!
Where are you located Doctor?
Richmond, Virginia
Is someone with a moderate dry eye a candidate for upper blepharoplasty?
Yes, but the surgeon has to be cautious and conservative.
can you do supra tarsal fixation surgery? I had a ptosis sugery that made my eyes kook weird. Basically I have no tarsal show ever since I had the ptosis surgery and I was told that I need supra tarsal fixation surgery but most occuloplasts are afraid to do it on me. They say it is risky.
I think you need an oculoplastic surgeon
thanks so much for reply. I keep looking for a good oculoplastic in my area, but so far I am getting rejected a lot because nobody wants to fix other surgeons mistakes I guess. They keep telling me to go back to same surgeon but I don't want to.
Have you ever have anyone of your patience have that issue and what is the reason for the blindness?
No, I have done over 5,000 eyelids and never had a severe complication. It happens from uncontrolled bleeding behind the eye. Very rare.
Is it true in some cases a person can go blind from this procedure? Or is it a myth?
Just like any surgery there are catastrophic situations such as death or blindness, but I think the average person is statistically taking a bigger chance driving a car which is much more dangerous.
Thanks for watching,
Dr. J
I had upper and lower 35 🙄days ago and it does traumatize your eyes. I still wake up and have to use cold compresses on my eyes at the sink to soothe my eyes. My vision is the same and eye pressure as I got checked by an eye doctor last week to make sure they were ok! I feel like the procedure should mostly be done for people over 70. It is very hard for your eyes& lids to feel normal again. It takes 6 months I’m told and today I am doing day 35 on my UA-cam channel.
@@TheJBeck1 Your experience isn't the norm. For most it is much easier. Also, some of us are born with hooded eyes. I don't mind mine (mine don't look old, but they have always been hooded). Some don't like it and want a correction.
I would very much like to find a male surgeon who specializes in male facial plastic surgery.
I am not sure there is such an animal, but usually busy docs see a lot of all genders.
@@jniamtuiii Thanks Doc! BTW, I subscribed!
I sent you another reply but failed to be deliveted. Thank you for writing me. Will give UA-cam time to retrieve reply before I write again.
That would be me; as far as everyone asking if I’m tired. I want a little of everything that enhances happy face. Money is in place I just need to get my helper committed to helping me. I will be giving you a call very soon
It will be my honor!
Are you an occuloplastic surgeon?
No, I am not, but I have performed over 5,000 eyelids over the past 20 years. One of my favorite and most predictable procedures. I am pretty involved with oculoplastics in terms of friendships, teaching at their courses, their attending my course and writing chapters in their textbooks. Great bunch of people.
Hopefully, you see this what about ptosis surgery and festoons.
Thanks Cheryl, I don't do functional ptosis surgery, only cosmetic, but thanks for thinking of me.
Where is the doctor located at? Anyone please
Richmond, Virginia 804-934-3223
LOL if they elevated my brows they'd be in the middle of my forehead
:)
I stopped looking at your site when I saw that you used general anesthesia to perform a lip lift.
We do the type of anesthesia the patient requests. We performed other procedures on that patient after the lip surgery.
Joe Niamtu Thank you for replying. Very helpful. Love your site.
Dr. Niamtu, your work is very freshening & obviously not done to change but to youthen, impressive, however, and all surgeons do this very irritating thing with the b4 & after pics, they allow the pt. to go to a makeup artist & pluck the eyebrows & powder the face with or w/o resurfacing. Then the photographer changes the lighting. I always stop & say..."50% of these improvements & changes I see were produced by lighting, makeup & altering eyebrows & all done post-op & showing only half of your talent. Then I wonder if the surgery was really as good as it looks. Can you do some of your pts. pics exactly after the surgery as before & show those to us? I don't want to give credit for this kind of decision to the photographer, the makeup company & artist. I want to give it to ONLY the surgeon. This would be a 1st if you could do this, & don't change the distance of the pts. face so farther away hides what could otherwise be seen & please no vaseline on the camera lens. That ain't cool.
You couldn't be more correct and an even bigger deception is when a before picture is taken wihtout a flash and the after picture is taken with a flash. I really, really am picky about controlled before and after pics to be standardized in pose, lighting, background and makeup. If you examine my pictures closely you will see that most of them (I have 9,000 on my website) are well standardized. There are exceptions, some patients refuse to pose a second time without make up, or they show up for their picture and have to go to work and refuse to remove makeup. I have written many articles and lectured internationally about clinical photographic standardization.
Thanks for commenting.
Dr. Joe
I can tell if there is an anatomical change, and not just lighting, etc. Most before pics will be makeup free, but for many people doing these cosmetic procedures, wearing makeup is a daily thing for them. So, of course the afters will often have some makeup.
OMG. Can't sneeze!???! Allergies. Can't exactly guarantee that, so no surgery for me.
Thanks for watching. Actually a sneeze is OK, but the patient must take care not to do activities that increase blood pressure to the head.
@@jniamtuiii thank you for replying.
So allergy sneeze, blow or cough would be safe? Otherwise generally have low blood pressure.
Yes a single sneeze happens, but you would not want to sneeze all day. People do well going through their normal routines if they just avoid activity for the first several days.
Could you stand Closer to the screen when you do your videos? You’re too far and it’s always too busy behind you to actually make a connection with you
That is great input. Those are old videos, I am much closer now. Look at my latest one and see what you thing.
