    I read the excellent interview with Panito Iconomou mentioned above and found it so interesting I printed it out. I cannot imagine anyone listing to Panito and not being moved by such a spine tingling performance and the sincerity in his unique voice.

      It’s a truly great interview and Panito lives on as one of the “greats” of the Tölzer legacy. It was informative…I didn’t know Panito actually struggled in the choir and thought he was one of the worse ones at one point, his voice has much richness and depth that is most unusual for a child.

    This particular performance of this aria is MY MOST FAVORITE. Everything about it evokes a quality of passion that is truly human and creative. As a musician myself, these musicians capture a selfless quality that Bach would be proud of. Of course, Beethoven becomes inspired by this "Es ist vollbracht" conception and further transforms what Bach set as a foundation. There should be millions of views for this!

    Incredible. Such clarity and strength in his singing. I could have never dreamed when I was in church choir as a kid that there was a boy my age that could sing like this and there was a boy in my choir that went on American Idol. Haha.

    ¡Qué hermosa la interpretación de este niño! Su voz, su timbre.
    El acompañamiento de la viola da gamba, da ese carácter inmensamente triste y melancólico del texto: TODO SE HA CONSUMADO.
    La belleza de esta música es inexplicable.

    Was this theme from where the attributed Albinoni adagio 20th C rewrite came ? Or more tenuous...would JSB have been familiar with Albinoni's work ?

    • @Alexander_Goosev
      @Alexander_Goosev 2 роки тому

      Here is a quote from Wikipedia:
      "The Adagio in G minor for strings and organ is a neo-Baroque composition commonly attributed to the 18th-century Venetian master Tomaso Albinoni, but actually composed by 20th-century musicologist and Albinoni biographer Remo Giazotto, purportedly based on the discovery of a manuscript fragment by Albinoni. There is a continuing scholarly debate about whether the alleged fragment was real, or a musical hoax perpetrated by Giazotto, but there is no doubt about Giazotto's authorship of the remainder of the work".
      Apparently, this is an unconscious plagiarism of Giazotto.

    • @Alexander_Goosev
      @Alexander_Goosev 2 роки тому

      Here is a translation of a fragment of the Russian Wikipedia article:
      "The piece, from the point of view of criticism, stylistically differs from the undoubted works of the Baroque in general and Albinoni in particular. In 1998 a well-known musicologist and music teacher, Professor at Lüneburg University Wolf Dieter Lugert in collaboration with Volker Schütz published in the journal "Praxis des Musikunterrichts" overview of the problem of the authorship of the Adagio, including fragments of letters from the Saxon State Library, which affirms that this piece of music from Albinoni heritage is not in the collections of the Library and has never been found, so the composition as a whole is an absolute hoax of Giazotto".

    • @shadbolt4687
      @shadbolt4687 2 роки тому +1

      @Александр Гусев...Yes thank you; having heard a live recital of " Albinoni's" Adagio only today, the latter section doesn't even sound like authentic Baroque of any kind. But my point is that the opening theme may well have been borrowed by Giazotto from this or another Baroque piece.

    Dass dieser Junge einige Jahre später bei"Tochter Zion"hinter dem Hermann Prey stand,würde ich an Ihrer Stelle bei dem Lied schreiben.Sehr ergreifend ist es,wenn beim letzten"Es ist vollbracht"die Jungen vom Tölzer Knabenchor alle aufstehen.Wenn Panito Iconomou mit seiner herrlichen Knabenaltstimme das Lied beendet.
