    Had severe Vitreous detachment in 2016. Both eyes detached within 4 months. Had Weiss ring in both eyes. Terrible. Tried Laser and it broke up Weiss ring but was still unbearable. Traveled to Wills Eye Hospital In Philadelphia where Dr. Regillo, Head of Retinal Surgery, performed Vitrectomy on both eyes 30 days apart. 8 years later, my sight is still crystal clear. He saved my life. He’s great, renowned throughout US, and highly recommended.

      I hesitate to get a vitrectomy because I'm too damn scared and it's bad for eye health, it increases oxygen in the eye. But I was miserable at the beach the floaters were everywhere. We need vitreous reformation & hydrogels.

    Thank you, Dr. Cohen. I had an onset of floaters (Weiss Ring) in 2021 and was diagnosed with a Retina Tear. I had Laser Surgery to seal the tear but no changes in the floaters. I was becoming very depressed. Finally, my retina detached a few months later and I had an emergency Vitrectomy with a wonderful retina specialist. I researched for months what I could do to help alleviate floaters. After my Vitrectomy and gas bubble to seal the detachment, a cataract did rapidly develop. Once the gas bubble was dissolved I was able to get cataract surgery in the eye with the Vitrectomy. I also had a retina tear in my right eye more recently that was attended to immediately upon the symptoms of floaters. All is well in both of my eyes. I have been taking the supplements recommended for several months and I can testify to the fact that they work for me. Thank God for opthalmologists and retina specialists.

    69 YO female - had a set of pull down stairs land on top of my head. Thankfully, no bleeding, just put ice pack on top of head. Two days later had headache and a HUGE floater that, like a monster arm, moved across my eye every time I blinked. Also had flashing white little lights appearing in peripheral. Did a bit of research and looked at study about MacuHealth.
    Eye doctor saw me immediately and saw the floater in the middle of my macula. Also said the vitreous sac had detached, no retinal issue, thank goodness. We talked about the study and I looked up MacuHealth and what was in it, along with pricing. WAs already taking many of the items in the supplement separately, so ordered the other items, also separately. This meant I was then taking many more milligrams of what was in MacuHealth, but I was doing that prior to the floater. Within a month, the floater began disappearing. After two months, it was completely gone and not returned. A follow up yearly visit showed everything had righted itself.

      @karensuarez2113....Wow....I too take some of the ingredients in the suggested supplement and will now get the rest of the ingredients, maybe I'll get rid of this one mild problem so I can concentrate on getting my back and knees back in some kind of working order. I've embraced these imperfections way too long. Just because I'm 80, female, doesn't mean I have to keep suffering this pain and can barely walk and can't walk and stand upright. I used to be ramrod straight till the last arthritic flare up two years ago. Thanks for your post, I think it's a great suggestion.

I really haven't taken any supplements for it because 6 months ago I was bitten by a tick & am now allergic to all things mammal derived, and most vitamins have Gelatin (derived from pork) and/or Magnesium Stearate also mammal derived. Today, I got a new Floater, this one in my right eye. It is different than those in my left eye, however. It is tiny & very opaque black. The ones in the left eye are kind of see through. All you need is a detailed retinal exam to make sure that the floaters are not associated with any retinal breaks. This is not expensive and usually covered by your medical insurance. Other than that, the floaters are not something that will cause any type of progressive visual loss.

    Dr Cohen, I am a retired medical researcher and would like to share my observation on my own floaters with you. I have clouds of them. If you keep your body alkalized (with sodium citrate, which you might have to take for some other condition such as a tendency to form kidney stones), then you will notice the floaters a lot more. If you discontinue the citrate, you will "see" them much less, though they are all there. I have done this experiment on myself several times and the results were 100% repeatable. I wonder what the result would be if somehow one could "acidify" the vitreous a tiny bit.

    • @brieskystar
      @brieskystar 5 місяців тому +2

      Hmm, acidify? Why isn't anyone talking about vitreous reformation, that what would be the best solution to address liquefaction. There are clinical studies, hydrogels in clinical trials now, but something like injecting a molecule to counteract liquefaction would be best.

      @ I have tinnitus too. It’s interesting to say the least but what really bothers me is what I call a ‘petulant’ Eustachian tube. When it arbitrarily decides it wants to stay open it is quite annoying because I can’t hear well outside of my head but I sure can hear me inside loud and muffled 😂. I found that bending over helps but it doesn’t always last too long.

    A couple of these will work. Laser therapy will work, but has "risks" and
    removal of the vitreous will work, which is then replaced with a gel. Don't
    forget, if one of these things does work - great, but if it doesn't, are you
    willing to lose your entire or partial sight, in one or both eyes ? Not worth it.
    I have about 150 - 200 floaters in my right eye, and "none" in my left eye.
    The rest of the cures in this video are just not true. Pie in the sky.
    I think even if you have floaters, you can still have great vision, and be
    thankful for that, and not blind, or close to blind. I've had floaters since
    about 15 years old, and I'm now 71 years old. You have to put up with them,
    and your brain learns to adjust to them. Life isn't perfect, but be happy you
    have eyesight, and good health otherwise.

    • @SyrianMan

      Never ever replace your vitreous. Your eye will be dry and sensitive to light for the rest of your life. There are certain gels and oils in the vitreous, which won’t replenish and can’t be replaced. You will be on moisturizer eye drops for the rest of your life.

      It's not the lens. After cataract surgery floaters can become more noticeable. This happens because the floaters were less noticeable due to the effect of cataract blocking light into the eye. After surgery a lot more light comes into the eye and the floaters become more noticeable.

    Hi doctor. A detached retina surgery August 2021 on my left eye. I had a cateract Surgery two months later. My vision on that left eyes is not clear . I cant read with that left eye. In April 2024. I had a suden development of floater on my right eyes that had refuse to go. Is there any hope that vision on my left eye will become normal? Will floater go on my right eyes as time goes on?

    • @doctorilancohen
      @doctorilancohen  24 дні тому

      If you have not checked the right eye after the floaters developed, you should do it immediately, as the risk of retinal detachment in the right eye is there. The quality of vision after retinal detachment is dependent on whether it was macula on or off detachment. Do you know?

    I looked up the eye supplement for floaters a couple months ago. And instead of buying it, I already had those supplements (listed on their bottle as ingredients) around the house. So I added them into my supplement routine. I would say my floaters are about 50% more faint at this point. So there are no strong contrasting "lines" of floaters.

      Yes, steroid drops are bad news, although I HAD to use them for uveitis inflammation. Steroids weaken blood vessels and collagen, so I can imagine they could damage the vitreous humor too. Some of the newer steroids like Durezol, are truly dangerous, and I wish I had not used them. Durezol IMMEDIATELY, within 3 weeks, caused cataracts and I had to have cataract surgery. Can't be the only damage they did, IMO.

    I have had floaters since my late twenties and I am now in my 60s.
    I have just got used to them over the years, but last August, I developed new shaped floaters and flashing lights.
    Last week, I developed a very large floater (the size is about half of my eye). I decided to again just get on with it, but I still have regular flashes.
    I would add that I also have keratoconus, which has been quite stable for about 40 years.
    It is the size of the new floater which bothers me. It's in the same eye as the flashes.

      Please see you eye doctor immediately to rule out a retinal detachment.
