I was diagnosed with PVD three weeks ago. I have a ring floater. Started taking 500 mg of Bromelain once a day and I would say the floater is half way gone. It’s no longer that noticeable! I had a hard time reading the first week. Incidentally, I learned that Bromelain could help before seeing the eye doctor, so I asked her if there was any supplements that could help with this and she said no, there’s not. Glad I’m a DIY kind of guy and saw your video.
Thanks for this! My retinologist has been watching my eye health due to PVD as well. Floaters has gotten worse, and they told me also NOTHING could be done. I just had to learn how to live with them.....easier said than done. Especially when your work is on the computer. Will give this a go! 🙏🏽
I have suffered from eye floaters for the last 30 years. For the last five years it got worse and even if it´s not dangerous it can be really annoying. One year ago I started with intermittent fasting mixed with longer periods (3-4 days) of water fasting and now my floaters are are almost completely gone :) When your body enters the state of autophagy it actually starts repairing itself, incredible.
I just want to share my experience with others, in my case I started to see a lot of floters at once, I guess it is because I use a lot the confocal microscope. I went to the Dr. He said that my retina is fine as well as my vitrous, which is fine because when I was a kid I lost my left vision because of an accident. I started to eat 300 grams of pineapple every day in the morning before breakfast, and after four weeks I noticed that 60% of the floters are gone thanks to God. I am Christian soy I believe in miracles as well, then when I went to visit the Dr. He was surprised that my vistreous is quite clear now. ❤❤

2:27 "and what they found is that eating floaters seemed to be associated with a decrease in the number of floaters.". yes, this does seem to make sense in a fun way!
Yes fresh pineapple and pineapple juice works for me, after years of floaters started on pineapple a couple of years ago after reading that it contains an enzyme and they went away.
Unrelated to eye floaters (although I think mine may have started to melt away) I had a nurse recommend bromelain supplements to be because allergy medicines have stopped work. I've noticed in the last week or so, that I do seem to have less eye floaters than I did before. It seems that this video connected the dots for me. Thank you! 🥰
I heard about pineapple and Floaters a few weeks ago. I have been eating one slice of pineapple per day since then and my floaters have reduced to one barely noticeable floater in each eye. So for me, they work.
@@MADOUT_VPS just one slice per day. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to keep eating a slice per day or stop when the floaters go. But I like pineapple anyway, so I will keep eating it. It makes a big difference to the floaters.
For everyone who has eye floaters and are currently in panic: keep on reading. I first encountered floaters when I was about 19 but somehow they moved out of my field of vision, then at 27 I suddenly had a bunch of them. At that time I also had bad anxiety, stress etc and I couldn’t stop looking for the floaters that it became a daily obsession. But: I overcame it. It WILL get better! Try to find the core of where the anxiety comes from, maybe with a little more help like therapy or someone you trust to talk to. Strangely, I still have floaters but I barely notice them because I’m not scared of them anymore. The mind can be a powerful ally or your biggest enemy. If I can do it, you can do it too!
I’m in a similar boat to you - massive onset all of a sudden from stress and eye strain. I like your advice - lot of people say you willl get used to them. They do become less obvious over time :)
@@thatmatty231guyWhat about me I have since few days a big floater it looks like a spider and it is almost at the center of my sight. I am hopeless abd no brain can ignore it. 😢
@@haralbi I have a similar one in the centre too - it’s not massive but still very annoying, can you see it much in darker rooms or just in sunlight? You should try the pineapple trick, I’m going to try it and see if it helps. Also you can try eye supplements like Lutein as well
@@thatmatty231guy I was also prescribed a mix of Lutein, Zeaksantin and some other vitamins, the doctor said it might be beneficial for eye health, but regarding floaters he said that either I will get lucky and the floater will be displaced form the center of the sight or brain will get used to ignore it. That's why I don't think pineapple can help. Vy the way I can see it especially in the lighter environments or rooms but it is there even if i close my eyes although just like a shadow.
I got my 1st floater at age 12 and the eye doctor explained what it was and assured me that by the time I was in my 50's it would settle out of my line of vision and I would no longer see it. Well, over the years I developed more of them in both eyes and now, at 65 I have about 6 in my left eye and 3 in my right making it hard to see as I have to wait for them to float by when trying to look at something close. (Each one is surrounded by a border that is opaque.) I will try the Bromelain to see if that helps so, thank you. I have always wondered why there is not a treatment where the eye fluid is pumped out and sent through a filter then back into the eye (sort of like dialysis) to eliminate these things? It seems to me this type of procedure would not be hard to do and would be very effective but then, of course, I am not a Doctor so I really have no idea. Thank you for the info about Bromelain, I will look around for some supplements and see if that has any positive effects.
There is a surgery called vitrectomy that takes out the jelly part of the eye (vitreous). It's not without risks such as retinal detachment and endophthalmitis (sight-threatening infection inside the eye). This type of surgery is done by a retinal specialist in severe cases of floaters.
@@mijalitt315 I cant tell as the doc says I have cataracts and need to have them removed. Then, I should see if they improved or not. I recently had a vitreous separation and as a result developed a Weiss ring floater. Have you ever had a patient successfully get rid of floaters (specifically the Weiss ring floater) by consuming pineapple? If so, was this actually verified by you, the ophthalmologist, or merely self reported by the patient. I so want to believe this can be a cure. Thank you!

Thanks for this video. I have been a victim of Eye floaters since my Laser Eye treatment (2012). Got used to the crappy vision since then. Your method looks promising . Will definitely try it . God bless you.
That would be interesting, since I have eye floaters for more than 55 years and I always thought I was the only one having trouble with that. I love pineapple (or ananas as it is known over here) and I still have eye floaters. Especially in summer it's worst, since the abundance of light makes them easily visible. You're talking about people with 1, 2 or 3 floaters? I have many more. By the way I recently visited an eye doctor and she said that we're seeing the shadow of the floaters, not the floaters themselves. I never knew that. Sometimes when you're looking into the far at night and towards a light in the distance and you squint your eyes you can see the form of the floaters quite clear. So I'm wondering if they are part see through. Oh question: does it need to be fresh pineapple or can it also be pineapple in those little cans? Thanks for the video 👍
Pineapple and Bromelain are indeed intriguing options for managing eye floaters with their low-risk profile. Unless there are specific contraindications, considering this natural intervention seems like a reasonable step to explore. Very interesting!
But it will cause vitreous synergy and there will be fluid movement all over the eyes. It will seem like you are looking through a clear tape or cellophane and floaters swimming everywhere. I wish there are research on how to thicken the vitreous humor because i am 31 and currently experiencing this. @@DrRupaWong
Thanks so much for this video. Interestingly, pineapple has been in my daily morning diet. So I have noticed floaters for the past week but they are not only clear, they are also black dots and some seem attached to small pieces of tissue, all manly concentrated on the left side of my eye. Why so many black dots?
Hi Dr. Rupa, I just started seeing floaters about 11/2 months ago. Saw an Opthomologist who tested me and assured me at this point there is no cause for concern. Will see again I 2 months. As soon as I saw the first floaters I check your UA-cam site and went right out and bought a pineapple. The test is on. After about my 4th pineapple in two weeks there are some days I 😮rarely see any floaters. Will keep you updated.
Regarding the side effect with tetracyclines. Bromelain acts against biofilms hence prevents antibiotic resistance Bromelain acting against biofilms etc potentiates the antibiotic so requires less antibiotic to be effective. I have been taking bromelain with minocycline many year for osteoarthritis.
That’s very interesting. Minocycline is one of the few prescription drugs that is associated with increased life expectancy from an analysis of the UK Biobank database cross referenced with Merck’s no longer cross reference database of outcomes of after prescription drugs were prescribed for more than one use for at least a month.
Well, I moved to Thailand and have been eating a fresh pineapple from the local market everyday for the past three months. It’s done ZERO to improve my eye floaters. I’m also in perfect physical health.
@Lee Jones Yea not surprising, the single study she references isn't even controlled let alone double blind. Can't really base a medical recommendation on such sparse evidence
@@frankyancy1347 Respectfully, she doesn't do scientific studies. Any answer would be speculation. I'd suggest googling for studies of pineapple on other maladies
It most likely has something to do with the surface area of the collagen and/or the matrix medium the collagen is in. Such that in the eye the less "dense" form of collagen is more easily acted upon.
I am guessing that the pineapple must be raw and not canned. My floaters are black and mostly in the left eye and sometimes so thick it is like looking through shrubbery! I am putting pineapple on my shopping list, thank you for your upbeat and informative videos!
@feyHiker THANKS for Getting Directly to the Point of this Video and What Part of Pineapples (the processing there of) might benefit eyes with Age Related Floaters. By the way, have you found staying out of bright light helps by having your eye's pupils dilated?
I have heard this before and try to incorporate pineapple into our daily diet. We usually use the bags of frozen pineapple, no syrup or liquid. I do think it helps with floaters.
I was bed ridden w/gout, if I eat pineapple every day no attacks, If I eat ketchup or tomatoes I won't be able to walk in a week. So I buy whole pineapples, turn upside down on counter They ripped backwards, if you cut too early they leave a metallic taste in you mouth, that's why people are thrown off
I tried it some time back, but didn't see any help. I also triedied bromalein as a supplement. Not sure if the pineapple or bromalein will disolve collagen in other parts of the body? Please clarify.
I am 45, and I have a history of vision problems. I am extremely nearsighted, and I have astigmatism. I had to have a shot of Avastin in one eye at 30 years of age to stop new blood vessel growth. This caused some partial vision loss in that eye. I developed a huge floater in the other eye almost a year ago, and it is really bothersome. I’d love to know any ways to care for my eye health and preserve what vision I have left.
I am in the same boat as you except I had Lucentis as the treatment for my CNV. I then began taking bilberry, high dosage lutein /zeathaxin and astaxathin and now has less floaters.
I'm 75 and had cataract surgery last year. 8 months later, I suddenly had a large floater appear that looked like a 3-sided leaf, green with green/brown border. The leaf was gone the next day but a smaller green donut remained attached to a translucent mass. I read about pineapple and Bromelain, so I had both fresh and canned pineapple along with a Bromelain supplement for 90 days with minimal change. My eye Dr's P.A. did an exam and said it was a vitreous floater and could be treated with surgery. She did not recommend laser treatment as it usually caused the floater to fragment into many visible parts. 6 weeks later the floater seems to be gradually fading and not a problem while playing golf or other daily activities.
I’ve lived in SE Asia for 20 years and eat fresh pineapple every morning for breakfast. I’ve had floaters in my eyes since I was 13. I’m now 66. My floaters have increased in number.

Hi Dr. Wong, I like it that you are a board certified ophthalmologist and not selling anything that could bias your evaluation that eating pineapples or taking bromelain may help get rid of or reduce eye floaters. My wife has had a huge issue with extensive floaters after cataract surgery by a physician who had been top notch 20 years ago but now seems to be less competent. Wow great explanation and fascinating information. I have had floaters for several years but I am young and it happened when I was a hair stylist and a bottle containing just mixed hair color in a syringe type bottle with almost a hydraulic mechanism that suddenly exploded and the color went in my eyes. I promptly rinsed it but my eyes got irritated and sticky after and I got antibiotic eye drops to treat it. It worked great but after several days floaters appeared. It is not clear whether they are just ordinary floaters or possible corneal scarring from the trauma. Would bromelain still work for something like that ?
Before you eat the pine apple you should make sure that all those brown prickly nodes from the yellow flesh need to be removed so as to avoid the throat irritation. This works for me.

Great video, been wondering about this since I have many floaters! I'm also curious about possible cures for amblyopia. I heard about a recent study in Finland where they tried to see if SSRI medication would increase neuroplasticity and therefore help normalize the amblyopic eye. I think they didn't get it to work though.
I have just watched your video and you said check that the medication you are on. I do not take any medication for any thing so what do you suggest i do?

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is supposed to be good for floaters. I've used it on and off for months and see a bit of improvement. It can be used internally as well as drops. The stronger conectrations burns/stings like strong salt water (think of ocean water times 2!). but they now make weaker concentration drops online as well. What research/thoughts about MSM Doc?
I noticed higher number of eye floaters recently. After watching this video I realized that I take turmeric&bromelain as a supplement. Can you deacribe why I have more eye floaters after taking this supplement for over a month?
I started getting floaters when I was 18 years old. completely freaked me out. Started having panic attacks and everything. I went to the opticians, they told me my eyes were healthy and couldn’t even detect the floaters. I then thought i was imagining them or going mad! as the years went on, the floaters have become much more prevalent in both eyes. They negatively affect quality of life. Im pushing 40 now I’ve been to the opticians countless times over the years and they just keep telling me my eyes are healthy and there’s nothing they can do about the floaters..Unless I pay 6 grand and have them suck all the jelly stuff out of the back of my eyes and replace it with air…with risks involved… umm no thanks. I honestly thought after 20 years of this bull**** they would have came up with a safe & effective treatment to take away these annoying floaters. But no. nothing. just got to live with them. 😔
You should see a vitreous and retina specialist. Yag laser procedures do a great job getting rid of floaters. Yag procedures did great with mine, but floaters can come back. I have minimal floaters now, and thinking I will at least try the pineapple.
I have another question regarding this topic: Not ony do we not know if any Bromelain gets to the eye, but does it end up in your blood and metabolism at all? Does it even get resorbed by the gut? Enzymes are proteines and large proteins get broken down into peptides and aminoacids by the proteases in the stomach and denatured by the stomach acids. Which is a problem with many oral supplements snd medicatuons, right? So: is there any reason to believe, that any Bromelain stays intact and gets into your cells by just eating pineapple? I don't find it plausible. Also, als ypu said: we need collagen in so many tissues all throughout the body. Wouldn't a medication that just breaks down collagen also do a great deal of harm and wouldnt it be indifferent to where it breaks down the collagen? How and why would it go specifically to the eye (and attack specifically the floaters there) and not everwhere else? To me this research seems like whishful, magical thinking after just hearing two pieces ofninformatiin without knowing the conplexities around it.
Hello Doctor Wong. I am very surprised that you don't guide people nor tell them that the high concentration of bromelain is mainly in the core of the pineapple, and that it may take 2 to 3 weeks to work
I just started using a pineapple powder. The label says zero sugar. Can this be true? I've also been eating kiwi a couple times a week. I've been noticing a reduction in my floaters...a lightening in the 1 big floater. I need to watch my sugar though. How do they take the sugar out? Its a freeze dried pineapple powder.
Will taking bromelain destroy collagen in all areas of the body, as in the joints, where we don’t want to lose it? I would appreciate an answer relating to this. I noticed that several people have asked.
No not at all. As we grow older our bodies change. Antioxidants and enzymes our body has manufactured for us cease with age. Osteoarthritis and fluid buildup in knee joints causing pain is an example of this. SMET or systemic multi enzyme therapy helps stop the build up of fibragin in joints.
Here's an odd thing. When making Jello shots, say strawberry, cherry, orange and pineapple, then add a tiny piece of each type of fruit into their matching jello shot, then add alcohol (vodka), into each shot...When you freeze the jello shots, the pineapple shots will not freeze. All the other fruit shots will freeze. It's odd that the combination of Pineapple and alcohol will not freeze. I assume it's the Bromelain. It did not get rid of my folaters but after a few shots, I didn't care. 👀
Instead of eating pineapples just use Adolph's Original Unseasoned Tenderizer like salt because it's Salt, Dextrose, Bromelain (Tenderizer), and Calcium Silicate.
I'm having another awful hormonal migraine and period, so I'm not sure maybe it's that, I do have hay-fever too. But I ate pineapple for the first time 24 hrs ago, im sat In an oat and green tea bath because I'm so itchy, all over. I can feel tiny bumps raising on my face and I'd like to claw my own skin off and ripped a few hairs out because my hair is very fine and baby hair kept tickling my face. That's not a side effect of pineapple is it? Wouldn't a reaction be immediate? Didnt kick in until bedtime. My palette and tongue itch too. Hope not, I enjoyed the eating bit
If you hop three times on one leg twice a day some studies have indicated that it may decrease the incidence of floaters in people that are otherwise classified as being dink toed.

Will it go when anxiety got recovered?
But what about collagen in cartilage? Will bromelain break down our joints?
I takes 100 mg a day of Bromeliad and it helps reduce small floaters.
How are things now? Is it still working?
There is a treatment for floaters. Its called a vitrectomy surgery. They can also do a vitrectomy with laser to obliterate the larger floaters.
Please let me know how it works for you
Did it work ?

I recently had a vitreous separation and as a result developed a Weiss ring floater. Have you ever had a patient successfully get rid of floaters (specifically the Weiss ring floater) by consuming pineapple?
Agree! Thanks for being here!

Wow! Can you update me on your progress? I would really appreciate it.
Regarding the side effect with tetracyclines.
Bromelain acts against biofilms hence prevents antibiotic resistance
Bromelain acting against biofilms etc potentiates the antibiotic so requires less antibiotic to be effective.

Could bromeain have a detrimental effect on collagen production? Also, will taking collagen supplements increase the occurence of floaters?
Yes that and other enzymes also too may help assist in repair

So sorry. 💔 Best wishes!!

Also good for jelly fish stings
Have you tried this? Did it work for you? Thanks for sharing!
@@genesearch5676 Interesting!
