I have a Ball Python. She's a sweet, gentle and docile creature.
ball pythons are barely able to eat full grown rats. how are they gonna eat you. nearly every snake can not eat you. and those that can would only be able to eat you if you were pretty small
@Derek Hershey same. I have a Ball Python as well and shes very sweet and calm and actually enjoys being handled because she's allowed out of her enclosure lol. She's my first reptile. I did tons of research before I decided to get one. I have kind of been afraid of snakes most my life but the fear came from not understanding them. They're not out to get (or eat🤦♀️) humans. 🤣 I'm sure you enjoy your sweet girl as much as I enjoy mine😊🐍

I fucking love snakes. Easily my favorite kind of animal now, a few years ago i didnt have any snakes and i didnt really feel any particular way about snakes, but my friend took me to a reptile shope because he just likes to look at the cool animals and they let me hold a ball python. Well i immediately fell in love with snakes and a week later i rescued a snake off of Craigslist when i saw he was being kept in poor conditions. Needless to say Monty is doing great now and hes gotten a major tank upgrade from when he was with his previous owners.

I used to LOVE snakes. I used to try to find them in the garden and put as many as I could in a bucket. My mom told me that there were giant ones like boas that can stangle people. I was terribly afraid. It started to get better lately. This vid helped a lot! Thank you!

I miss out on MONTHS of every year due to my fear of snakes. I live in Georgia, USA. I only go out in the summer if I have errands or appointments I can't miss. Otherwise ... I'm in the house, in the air conditioning, watching out the window as life goes on around me. I am TERRIFIED of snakes. I'm so scared of snakes that I've fainted more than once when I encounter them unexpectedly. And forget going through a reptile house or zoo. Nope, not gonna happen. I don't think anyone will ever understand how much I want to get rid of this fear and be able to live a life that is fulfilling year round. :(

I absolutely have this same fear and also don’t leave my house. I have never once encountered one or I would be dead! It’s serious and I totally understand. I can’t even see a picture of them. My heart goes out to u. Hell I am even scared of the garden hose.
You do know they're not really that dangerous at all, right? That's the first part to it, even though it won't get rid of a phobia, just knowing behind it all that they can't really hurt you. I'd say from the safety of your own home you should expose yourself to them in videos from people that LOVE snakes. They're the ones that don't feed INTO phobias, there's a whole lot of videos that thrive on making views by perpetuating lies and myths to the mass. Avoid those at all costs.
Stay around the reptile lovers, they study them, they love and respect them and they truly know what is and isn't dangerous, behaviors, personalities, etc. Just work yourself up to watching those types of videos, seeing people handle these animals. My 4 recommendations would be SnakeDiscovery, Clint's Reptiles (I recommend him first actually, he's got a very soft spoken and optimistic style), GoHerping, and JossersJungle. All very positive experiences with their videos. This way you can hopefully feel safer to live your life and not stay locked up inside, not that you HAVE to ever touch a snake, but you can live.
I love them personally but I've familiarized myself with my states venomous species. There's only 3 in my state. I know that the rest I'd encounter are not in the least bit deadly to me. This would be something I'd recommend for you too. You have 6 in your state. And they're all either bright, or loud. So easy to tell apart and stay away from. Exposure for fear is a big part of overcoming it and yeah it can be pretty uncomfortable. There's really no way past fear but through. Avoiding it tends to compound it and it just gets worse with time.
Maybe start with a skink lizard and work up to looking at a garter snake.
So many people asking if it works, facing your fear does work, no question about it.

Garter Snakes are little sweethearts. They can be pretty stinky, though. They will fard when threatened.

My fear has always been one lunging at me unexpectedly. So when the snake just moved towards her, she freaked out because that's the one thing she was afraid would happen.
Ok, yeah I don’t think I’m ever gonna get over my fear of snakes. When I was a kid I had a big fear, and in order to conquer it I decided to hold a snake at this event. The snake instantly began wrapping around me and my neck to the point where the staff got concerned. They rushed to get it off me. Needless to say, my fear WORSENED that day. Oh well, guess I’ll be afraid forever 😔
hey,i know this is late but i just want to say. snakes are docile and sweet creatures,either it was the species that you held or you got really unlucky with the snake you got.snakes are really fascinating creatures and i really hope you get over your fear one day

You should try again :) one time doesn't mean every time, and just like people, these snakes are not all the same. They're animals like us, and can have a bad day, just like us
Try holding a Garter Snake or a Kenyan Sand Boa. You don't have to start off with the big noodles. Start with a tiny noodle and see how you feel from there.

When the snake jumped to look at her a got scared more than the lady... i liked snakes as a kid then somehow i started to fear them and 2 years ago i stepped on a grass and venomous snake was lying 1cm from my foot since then I am chronically feared
This is the same thing I fear the most. But your case also proves one thing and bcoz of that you're living today. You see,
You pulled your leg away even when it was 1cm away from you which is what is called fight or flee situation in our body. Everyone has this ability and is totally reliable. I had the same experience as a child, but my body automatically pulled me away and I screamed out loud 😅
Altho I think that even they don't want humans to step on them, so they also pull themselves away from our foot when we're walking

I’ve always been startled by snakes but I held one of those giant yellow ones and it freaked me out then my cousins put their ball pythons on my neck and I hated it. I’m afraid of snakes. And that’s pretty much the only thing that startles me. Spiders don’t scare me at all. I like them actually.

Try petting a Garter Snake or a Kenyan Sand Boa. Maybe those little friendship noodles will help you to be strong.

Same hpnd with me. I was never afraid of them,but last week i saw one in a market area and after that I think they could be anywhere in the rainy season, specially.
But the good thing is, they don't like to attack ,but only defend themselves as we are not their food
@@samhere8869 for me is i liked them from far away but lately at work I be finding them in bushes and in my tools and stuff like that I feel like my fear was built by me constantly having snakes slither up my hand or just Turning around and seeing one by my feet my job has them all over I work in agriculture

Bro i can't even look at a snake's Photo cuz i had terrible experience like a trauma from my childhood. Whenever i hear someone talking or even come across a photo, video etc my heart start beating fast and it feels difficult to even breathe

I have a very weird relationship with snakes. I used to LOVE them as a child but in my teen years I started to have nightmares out of now where, it was so odd. I went from hunting them down to pick up and play with, to relocating them if needed, but all of a sudden I started having nightmares and I was TERRIFIED.
What's funny is that I love snakes and always been fascinated by them so I don't get why are they scared...but spiders...oh fuck if that was a spider I would feel the same lol

Tbh you're more likely to be attacked by a dog or a cat rather than a snake. Some snakes are faster than others but honestly they're more docile than a puppy and a kitten. The only reason that a snake will do a bluff strike or a strike is if they're stressed, been provoked, are scared, accidentily strikes you (when you're feeding it, they usually let go right away), or if they thought you were food (mostly if they catch a scent of their food on you). I have a Colombian Red Tail Boa and he's so sweet and curious, he and my boyfriends snake (he's a Hypo Red Russo Boa) amd they have never went into strike pose to attack us and they've never tried to harm us in any way. They're not slimy, they feel almost like learger in a way. Depending on the snake tjey could have rough or smooth scales. Like for ball pythons for instance, they have what we call a puppy mouth. A cats bite and a dog's bite are also alot more painful than a snake bite too. Yes you'll bleed for a little bit but it wont hurt as badly and they woukdnt bite you on purpose. Also not all snakes are venomus. I do hope that i shed some light in your direction and i hope you do get over your fear of snakes as i do anyone else. You wont get over it if you dont try. Trust me since ive had my first snake I feel mote at ease that I did with a cat or a dog. They do kind of give you madsages too, which feels amazing. Just do research and all.
@@briannawray4384 what comforts me is that they don't bite a walking person from behind or sides. Only danger is if you step on it, and that will happen if you don't pay attention to road in front

I have such a bad fear of snakes. Two days ago my grandpa found a pretty big black racer on my front steps. That day I almost couldn’t convince myself to go outside. I know my grandpa chased it away and it’s no longer there. But even now every time I step outside I have to look around for it. And random little things keep making me jump because I instantly think they’re a snake. Yesterday a squirrel ran through the grass and I almost screamed because I thought it was a snake. A couple hours ago I jumped because I saw a leaf out of the corner of my eye. The way the light reflected on it made it look like a curled up snake for a second

i could honestly use this kind of help....ive held an iguana who I got very attached too almost instantly. I named it godzilla because she was HUGE guys...ive held beardies and theyre so beautiful and derpy to me the best friend youd need. same with an iguana stoner pets they are lol! but when its snakes we just dont get along and this kind of helped me a little. if i had a friend who owned a snake id ask to do this kind of therapy with me.

@@KerwinRaeSydney thx the only problem is that she makes me really sad just because of her attitude, when I say how happy I would be if she got rid of her snake phobia. She says that she doesn't care about her phobias, as long as she isn't near a snake she won't kill it and then I said she could have one less thing in the world that she hates. I would of taken her to see my friends snake like just look at me hold it and she's just so stubborn she doesn't want to go, then she just said that she doesn't want to talk anymore and that I shouldn't get everything I want even tho I'm not getting anything I want.
My stepmom is terrified of snakes, we have snakes in our yard and she kills them as soon as she sees them, I really want a ball python but she would never allow me to get one :P

It was a strike (possibly a bluff strike but a strike nonetheless). Doesn’t mean it’s aggressive though, just stressed/scared. Not sure why whoever provided the snakes chose that one because it seems to be not well socialized.

Just like the woman in the pink shirt I'd start to tense up and want to move away if I got close to a snake. Something about the way it slithers and the way it feels. The thought of it striking at any moment. One of my worst fears.
See i fear snakes and would love to get over that fear....But no one wants to hear "please dont bite me in thr face that would really freak her out". It shouldnt be common for your own pet to bite you. Thats what always stopped me my friends and cousins had snakes i wanted to try to hold it until they start talking about hiw many times they bite them. So im like no if he bites you and he knows you what you think they will do to me.
