There are so many inaccuracies in this video that it probably can't be salvaged. It should be taken down. The anachronistic pictures and maps are the worst. For example, when talking about Margrave Leopold I of Babenberg (10th Century), a painting of painting of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I (17th Century) is shown.
You just flash random images on screen, completely disjointed... I was fully expecting to see an Image of Barrack Obama or Kim Jong Ill or a Mac Donald's store in the images at some point. Terrible video.
First: 6.06: You show the wrong Fredric II, its king Fredric of Preussen (Hohenzollern) who lived around 500 years later. No clock ringing when you talked about an emperor during the 1300 century but used a portrait of a man in full 18th century costume with powdered hair? That kind of portrait did not even exist until around 1500. Its the most cleancut 1800-portrait you could imagine. Second: 6.33: You show the wrong Rudolf II. Its not Rudolf of Schwaben which it should be. The one you show was an emperor of the holy roman empire and lived in Prague around 300 years later (also a Habsburg). Third: 5.52-7.03: Pictures of plenty of 16- and 17th century portraits and paintings. Fourth: 7.10-7.21: Motives from early 19 th century, guaranteed not a motif of any Habsburg history from 14th century. And: Austria is not a country without history!! What a strange notion!
I heard somewhere that Austria got its name from the Ostrogoths when it war part of the Ostrogothic Kingdom. There are some similarities between these names, although it's more likely due to both deriving their names from the word "Auster", which means sunrise or east (or more specifically dawn) in old high German. In fact "Austrogothi" just means Eastern Goths, while Austria was originally called 'marchia orientalis', which meant "Eastern March".
Austria is the latin version of the german name österreich , which litterally means eastern kingdom, because it was the eastern part of the frankish empire of Charlemagne
In Norse mythology, four dwarfs hold up the sky. The dwarf of the east is called Austri and there is a legend that the name comes from this dwarf. Austria is called Österreich in German, which literally means "Eastern Realm". In the Middle Ages, Austria was also known as the Ostmark (eastern bulwark) because it was tasked with defending the empire against enemies from the east, such as Hungarians, Slavs and Avars.
I don’t know how to say this, and I can not understand at all how you could show a photo of Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor (of the Habsburg house 1640 - 1705) while going on about Leopold I, Margrave of Austria (of the Babenberg house 940 - 994) There is 700 years of fashion evolution in between the two. How could his ridiculous outfit not give away the fact that you had the wrong guy!?

Austrians were not "victims of the nazi regime". The majority of the population enthusiastically welcomed the Nazis, and hundreds of thousands of Austrian troops fought for the German armed forces.
"Austria accepts migrants with open arms" Ya when I went to Austria I literally walked passed a graffiti sign that said "migrants go home" that was in English for some reason 🤔
Current Austrian society is far from being an open society. They frown upon brown skin, i have never experienced racism to the extent i experienced in Vienna. Its spread and practiced openly.
The places shown at 13:25 and 13:35 are actually in Budapest, Hungary. (Fishermans Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica)
1:37 Accidentally show a map of the HRE instead of the Roman Empire 😂
Yeah. Pretty incredible. If someone makes that kind of mistake, it's hard to take them seriously as a historian.
Confused the absolute hell out of me for a moment

We have a hard time coming to terms with our past ? I do not know anyone who feels guilty for the bad actions of others.

Dude, at 7:20, that's a photo of Canadian John A. Macdonald (1st Prime Minister of Canada)!!!!!
Yup, good catch! That’s the classic pic of Canadian Confederation, not the Austrian Confederation.
This video was made with no hard left bias whatsoever

the common denominator there is east not goth though . Auster is a general world not related to gothi except as a descriptor.

@Ondřej Matějka Do they have any real support? If they do then I am incredibly surprised
Cool

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!
Very sloppy video, images make no sense. Back to the drawing board if you expect likes
The maps you use are WILD. As in super random and not authentic. E. g. countries named Spain and Italy in the middle ages?
A nation without history? Lol thats dull statement
great video
In the building to hear about the birthplace of Mozart and that guy with the toothbrush moustache !
Many mistakes and misinterpretations
Austrians were not "victims of the nazi regime". The majority of the population enthusiastically welcomed the Nazis, and hundreds of thousands of Austrian troops fought for the German armed forces.
Austria died when the Habsburgs monarchy was abolished. I hate repulbicianism with A passion.
Habsburg dynasty made Austria a major power
Österreich.
Stopped watching when I recognised a huge mistake. Sorry.
🙏🙏🙏🙏
The commentary is so monotonous I had to stop listening
"Austria accepts migrants with open arms"
Ya when I went to Austria I literally walked passed a graffiti sign that said "migrants go home" that was in English for some reason
🤔
educate yourself on austrias migration history of the last few years, maybe then you will understand why austrians don’t want it anymore.
yeah, judging 9 million people because of one graffiti makes sense
So German but with extra steps 😉
Yeah, Austria wasn't that much of a victim of the Nazis as they were mostly happy to be part of Germany
"Before Christ" rolls off the tongue much easier than the awkward syllables: B - C - E. What's your point in all that mouth contortion?
This video is a joke…
another dumb google image fake documentary
Ai is terrible
Disappeared huh 😂
The ruins were Greek and are in Italy. And Austrians were not the victims of the Nazis. They were Nazis!!!!!
