For 90% of the video, you don’t even see the suspect vehicle. Didn’t it dawn on the trooper that when he can’t catch up that the van went a totally different direction? With him being so far behind, they could have turned anywhere.
I've watched hundreds of these videos and it always amazes me that the officers seem to know the vehicle is still in front of them or has turned. I know on these side roads you can normally see well down the crossroads across the fields, so other than more grown-up areas, it is easy to see if someone turned.

It is seen several times but you have to REALLY be looking hard. I saw it at least 5 times again, and right before this cop crashed, that was the van in front of him.

I ws driving a semi truck. A few months later a female driver got into a accident with a officer responding to a call and they charged her with failure to yield to a emergency vehicle.I think she didn't see the officer at all until near impact. However after that a officer hit someone and kept going, He was reported and it was found to be true and the sheriff ordered him to be arrested.

If it wasn't stolen, i.e. no police report was made of a stolen vehicle, then they have ways of determining who was driving. It's not stated why the officer wanted to pull the vehicle over. Maybe expired tags, or the driver committed an infraction we don't see on film.

There are many cases where they "know" who was driving but can't make the case stick because they officer can't positively ID the driver. I know that people run for stupid reasons, but the way this started would make you think it is something major, with the vehicle cutting through traffic as soon as the officer hit the lights.

There were times it shows 120 MPH. No way. If you have ever driven 120 MPH, you would feel like you are in a real-life action game. It is scary. Whatever you see in front of you is behind you, an instant later. @4:32 -- There is no way that he took that turn at 117 MPH. A Ferrari LaFerrari might make that turn at 117 MPH. But no police cruiser would survive that turn at 117 MPH. How can the camera's calibration with the car's speed be so wildly mis-calibrated?
Had the same thing happen to me. I was still doing 25 mph when i hit the truck, this guy, 45 mph. I was laid up for over 2 weeks, i can imagine this guy was hurting a little while too.
100% on the officer. They yeilded well the first light, but didnt yield on the second. I didnt see any lights on the officers car and the truck can't stop on a dime.
Well first off, I hope the cop was Ok ! That having been said,this was sad,on multiple counts,a mini van out runs a cop. Once he gets dropped in the dust, he has no idea where the perp has gone. Even if the cop was going in the right direction, he was so far behind that the poor truck driver had no idea the cop was coming,(even if he was at the intersection) when the perp went through. Now if this was ASP, the title would be the same, it would have been half as long, and the perp would be the one wrecked out. What ever police force this was / is a couple things need to be addressed, you need to get faster cars, and pursuit drivers training from ASP.

Incidentally, the UK Police in London have all suddenly acquired Toyota Corolla Estate Hybrids. Good choice I suppose, because Toyota Hybrids are seriously underrated by a lot of drivers. They’re ultra reliable and will endure being raced about on emergency calls. They’re also cheaper on fuel and can cruise temporarily in EV mode, good for creeping up on criminals 😅
