    I've been anxiously awaiting your review of the new and improved NASM PT cert, and this is really great to see! Thank you for the work you put into these reviews, Jeff. They're so helpful. I'll be getting my CPT soon and have been torn on which one to do. Knowing NASM made some big improvements makes it easy to choose. You're putting out some great content! Thanks again!

    Yooooo it feels so good knowing these changes were made 😭😭 I watched your first NASM review video as well as all your other certification reviews and chose to go with NASM even after the negative points you made in the first video.
    Today I finished reading chapter 1 of the 7th edition 😎
    You should make a "how to study" video of some sort maybe, idk, just throwing you an idea 👍

    After doing some research on Indeed, I’d say 50% of jobs especially in big box gyms don’t require a certification and it’s best to start there. If you can’t make it in those gyms, how can you make it in the specialized ones.

    Generally agree. Overall the content was good. I thought their overuse of acronyms was unnecessary and incredibly confusing. I thought many of the test questions were silly and irrelevant. And when I had issues or question technical or otherwise, I found it difficult to get a response from them, yet they found the time to call/text me a minimum of 3 times per day until I purchased the course, which for lack of a better word felt icky.

My knowledge required today is not so much about the business and dealing with clients. We all go to the gym now but I always like to know more and be in the know. Good to know I made the right choice. I’m almost done reading the entire textbook. I’m an older newbie so all of the information is new to me and than being older definitely has an affect on me being able to process and memorize the material. All in all I think it has a shit ton of info. Yes shit ton is a scientific term😵‍💫. So far I’m really enjoying the content. I have the online version. I think they did a really good job of putting it together. I especially like the interactive parts of the program like the 3d muscle model. I will probably take the test in June. Than I’m going to take a nutrition course. Not sure which one . Precision I know is better but damn they are annoying with all the emails and hurry up your gonna miss out bullshit🤬. @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  Рік тому

      Thanks for the support! Your degree will be worth a lot more than the certification. It really depends on where you’re planning on working. Some gyms would still want a certification for insurance reasons. It’s best to ask potential employers what they want before hand.

    Great content! Thank you for all your videos, they've been extremely helpful in choosing my path going forward regarding certifications. One question: does the CSCS Certification count for CEUs on the NASM CPT or even the other way around? I had my CSCS out of college and am debating which one I should go for first since I will probably end up doing both.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the support! I’m pretty sure they would count towards each other for CEC’s. That being said I probably wouldn’t get both for education or employment purposes since they’re pretty redundant.

    I would like to know why you think SAQs are not important in a program. I believe that while they are important, they should not be the sole focus of the program, and only about five minutes should be spent on them.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  5 місяців тому

      I don’t think they provide much value for the average person/client. In my experience good old fashioned resistance training gives many of the same benefits, with lower overall risk to the individual.
      That doesn’t mean that SAQ drills have no value at all, or that they’re not good for certain clients. They’re just not that great for the average person.

    I just watched a few of your videos about NASM and ISSA and I think they both are great and helpful reviews! Currently I’m in Physical Therapy School so I’m working on getting my licenses in that but I also have people that want me to train them as like a personal trainer. So I wanted to know should I get a personal training certification or can I just use my DPT licenses for that. Plus if I do need to get a personal training certification which would do you recommend would be beneficial NASM or ISSA?

      @@Tooloud4Public ISSA’s certifications aren’t useless. They’re just not as respected as NASM’s in the USA. That isn’t true for all countries. If you’re in the USA though, ya NASM will give you an advantage when applying for jobs.

  • @silverthunder3
    @silverthunder3 2 роки тому +3

    I’ve seen some reviews where people said that they were paid less being ISSA certified (saying that their gym only gave them 50% of the money from the client whereas the other trainers with certifications through other programs were paid at least 75%) and that the gyms took it less srsly because of their open book exam. Obviously this kinda scares the shit outta me bc I just enrolled into ISSA (only with $1 down for my first month just in case I wanted to cancel within the allowed 7 days to cancel) because of their 4th of July sale which was nice considering I still have one year of Highschool left and I’d like to start part time so I can make more money to go out and live on my own and get away from this chaotic town faster. So would it be alright to go with ISSA? Or would it be worth it to go with a program seen as more “legit” to not take then chance of getting paid less and not being taken as srsly? Or do you think that ISSA’s perceived credibility w gyms has improved since then? Thanks for your time if you’ve decided to actually read all of this. Also anyone else’s opinion would be nice too.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 роки тому +4

      I see you commented on this one too. I wouldn’t worry too much about differences in pay between certifications. Most employers don’t care too much about which cert you have. That being said, ISSA includes the NCCPT cert for free in their package. Take that course as well to improve your odds of getting hired and also getting paid more.

    • @silverthunder3
      @silverthunder3 2 роки тому +1

      @@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation I’m so torn between NASM and ISSA. Having them both right in front of me I think that ISSA’s info is much easier to absorb and their customer service is phenomenal compared to the robot ladies at NASM, but at the same time I’d rather not take the chance of being seen as less legit by gyms that I’d want to get hired at… any more wisdom on that orrr? (Also I’m currently technically enrolled in both bc I’m that indecisive, I’m just trying to figure out which one to cancel, but I think NASM won’t give me the refund for the $100 down payment according to a few of the scary robot ladies

    Jeff, thanks for the review! I have been doing a lot of research trying to decide between ACE and NASM. Which one would I gain the most knowledge about working with a variety of clients in the gym? Do they both offer good video to help with learning? Some people can just read a book, take the test and pass. Im not one of those people. I need video content to help it soak in. It also keeps me engaged. With all that being said, which program would you recommend? Thanks in advance!!

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the support! I would say both programs are pretty good. In my reviews for both certs, I pretty much come to the conclusion that NASM is slightly better in most ways, training different types of clients being one of those ways.
      They both offer pretty good video learning, not amazing, but pretty good.
      Like I said before, as of right now NASM is slightly better in my opinion, but I’d check out both review videos to get a better idea as to why that is.

    Hi! I am a 22y/o senior in Marketing student looking to become a CPT. I recently purchased the NASM 7ed to learn everything for my coaching. I would like to focus mainly on strength training but based on your review I know this certification will NOT make me a fully competent trainer given the lack of strength training cues and compound lifts.
    What would you recommend I do to complement this knowledge? Is there any additional course, video, or certification I could take to learn more about this specific area of training? I would like to become an online fitness coach and although I know I do not LEGALLY need the certifications to coach, I need to learn the structure and how to become one.
    Thank you very very much! Your advice is highly appreciated!

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 роки тому +1

      It sounds like you’re on the right path with the right mindset! I think the 7th edition of NASM’s course does do a better job with teaching cues. That being said, if you want to do online training I’d recommend training clients in person for a while first.
      You learn far more from working with actual people than you do from online courses.

      If you’re dead set on working with athletes the CSCS is the certification that will do you the most good. You need a 4 year degree in exercise science or a related field to get that cert though.
      If you’re planning on working with less serious athletes or the general population, the regular NSCA CPT course or the NASM course would both be fine. I think the NASM course is designed better, but either would work.
