Hi there, I am in the process of studying for the NASM CPT exam. I was scheduled to take it in a few days but decided to push it out to the latest date eligible since I have not been able to pass any practice exams. Now I have 6 weeks. Im close with a score 68-69. Feeling very frustrated. I am in my late 50's taking this on out of passion. I have had lots of involvement in sports later in life and am have become a certified yoga instructor. And took classes at community college last 2 years. So I have a good foundation but I feel like I am really struggling to get it all the information in the book processed to pass. I took notes on ALL your videos. Any other tips?

Hello everyone, I just passed my NASM exam last night and it was not as bad as everyone is making it out to be and studying does not have to be as dramatic as well. I did the self-study course and simply reading the material, taking notes on what does not resonate with you, and doing each practice quiz, section test, and practice exam 3 times will have you more than prepared. Make sure you are averaging 90+ on all of these before taking the exam, and always take notes on what you missed on the practice problems and study them. DO NOT JUST MEMORIZE THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS, if you do this you will fail, the exam is WORDED differently but the material is the same.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  Рік тому +31

I think this is a good take on things. Try to understand the material instead of memorizing the questions and answers to the practice quizzes.

    Hi everyone!
I just passed my NASM test (04-27-24), and first of all, I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to this guy! I can't stress enough how INCREDIBLE these videos are for those who are about to take the test.
I went through the whole book before even thinking about “cheating” and studying only the important chapters 😂
But I promise you that I’ve learned more from this channel than from NASM material.
Besides the videos, I downloaded the material and did self-study, writing down all the things that weren't clicking.
The content this guy offers is GOLD!!! You don't need to spend money buying any other study guide.
One thing that I HIGHLY recommend is studying the corrective exercises or recommended exercises for specific types of populations (different distortions, obesity, hypertension, etc.)
    GOOD LUCK TO ALL! 🍀

Hey everyone! I passed my test on 10/12/23!! These videos are INCREDIBLY important and they helped so much! I mean, I'm terrible at memorizing stuff but these vids are simple and easy to understand! I got lots of questions about OPT, underactive and overactive muscles (especially overhead squat assessment) , lots of balance and some about kids and elderly. I was listening to these vids over and over again every day on a repeat 2 weeks prior to the exam. Practice tests for me were confusing and sometimes didn't make sense, but overall they helped me too. I would also go to chapters you're least confident in and do the quizzes on those over and over. Overall the Final Exam wasn't difficult, but questions were worded completely differently. Once again thank you so much for doing these vids, they are a lifesaver!!! I'm definitely recommending them to everyone who wants to pass.

Just took my NASM exam and passed with what I’d assume was flying colors! Watched part 1 and 2 once a day for 2 weeks straight before the test and by the day before the exam I felt like I was listening to a broken record because I knew every word that was gonna be said before it was said. When I finally took the test it was the easiest thing ever and I knew the answers to the questions before I finished reading them, thank you so much for putting these videos out they are better than the resources provided by NASM!!!

Just passed my NASM exam this morning and I wanted to share what questions I saw most on the test!! I watched this video as well as part 2 for about a week. I also went back and looked up some of these key points in the book as well and it really helped me!! This was my first attempt taking the test!
I will say I saw A LOT of questions on overactive and underactive, there were behavioral questions & questions on the stages of change. I saw questions on what workouts a person can superset (opt model) so definitely have a general idea of different exercises and what level of the opt model they go in. There were some business questions, know the difference between subjective and objective. There were a few questions on what exercises to use for ppl with hypertension & obese clients, so have a general understanding of that info. There were blood pressure questions as well, so know that info (systolic, diastolic, and the different numbers for hypertension etc) Basically everything in this guys 2 part series will help you pass!! I recommend watching these videos over and over and get someone to quiz you on the slides from the downloadable study guide and you’ll do great!

Just passed my exam last night (11/20/23). Holy guacamole, Batman! That was not an easy exam. Jeff, I know you said don't just use your videos for studying, but I basically did just that this last week. I'm a procrastinator! Well, it worked. Thank you so much for all the work you put into these videos. They were easy to understand and follow. I had these videos on repeat for hours everywhere, whether on my lunch break, at the gym, or at home.
There were a ton of questions on the OPT model, and the assessments (overhead squat primarily). One thing I would suggest that would be helpful is to learn the basic anatomy. I believe Jeff has two videos on this (upper and lower). Knowing the location and basic functions of the muscles will help with the assessment questions. Also, don't just memorize these key concepts. You have to understand them for the exam. They definitely worded the questions differently from the practice exams, but understanding the principles really helped.
Thanks again for everything! These videos were clutch, bro!!!

I haven't taken my exam yet, but as a person who over-studies and tries to learn from multiple sources, I want to say: WOW! I have been watching a ton of different videos over the last couple of months and as far as videos that are specifically made for NASM CPT test yours are by far the best! You go at a good pace not causing boredom but still not to fast to keep up. You aren't going straight from the book (I have the book I don't need someone else to read it to me) but you are putting key definitions on screen so it is easy to pause and make flashcards. I will definitely be using your videos through test day! THANK YOU!

I passed my exam TODAY! I was convinced that I wouldn’t pass and would have to use my retest voucher, but I didn’t need it!
    Things I used to study:
    - This video & Part Two (watch it on repeat until it becomes engraved in your brain)
    - the study guide he offers
    - NASM’s study guide (keep an eye on the items they deem ‘important’
    - also take the practice exam as many times as you can! I took it about 10 times and failed 8/10 of those times. The final two times, I passed (barely). But seeing a wide variety of questions and keeping an eye on repeating concepts (mentioned in these videos) really made a difference!

Thank you for these videos as they are very detailed and great for people like me who did not buy any resources except for the textbook. I went to school for exercise science, so my background mainly helped me with passing the exam on my first try today. I will say that my content included only 3-4 questions about the OPT model, but far greater questions about movement assessments, overactive and under active muscles, and NASM code of conduct. In my case, it was a matter of knowing a little about every chapter. For those trying to take short cuts, it is best to know all contents of the textbook.

I pretty much read all but about five chapters and listened to NASM CPT podcast. Of course that’s a lot of info to retain and I felt a bit overwhelmed. The day before my exam, I found these two videos and I felt a lot more prepared and ready to take the test. I wish I would have found these videos earlier. Thank you Jeff!

Just passed my exam! In large part because of these review videos. Very well put together and much, much easier to understand and digest than the textbook, which I read all the way through but retained next to nothing. Thanks Sorta Healthy!

Wanted to stop by and say Thank you for taking the time to make both of these videos they were super helpful and guided me towards passing my exam today ! I read the book then focused on chapters 6,7,11,12,13,20,21 along with ur videos which helped a lot . The test included a lot of over active and under active , OPT , and SMART questions . A few questions that threw me of were on when to breath in or out during a concentric and eccentric movement but it’s common sense but nevertheless THANK YOU ! 🎉🙏🏽

I passed last week after stressing out so much!!! My biggest advice would be to actually go over the entire book (not read the entire book) and there is many videos on UA-cam that go over each chapter in detail (about one hour each) that is easy to watch and follow along. After that, watch these videos to really get it cemented into your brain. And I mean watch these videos at least 10 times each and take notes. The most important things to know for the exam is the OPT model, behavioral changes, and overactive/underactive muscles especially for overhead squat posture deviations. But instead of memorizing every postural deviation, just make sure you know pes plantus syndrome (knee valgus), lower crossed syndrome, and upper crossed syndrome. If you know those 3 and the oactive and uactive muscles for those, all other deviations will be very similar and easy to choose from multiple choice questions. Jeff, I cannot thank you enough. You made an overwhelming process understandable and exciting to learn.

Used your interactive study guide and found it extremely supportive in solidifying the knowledge in the textbook and the practice exams.
Took your advice and used Fitness (Pocket) Prep and found the wording of their questions more comparable to the wording on the physical exam.
I heavily watched your Pt. 2 video on postural assessments and found it extremely useful when executing my exam.
Thanks for the resource. Liked and subscribed!

Fantasic review videos. I just did my proctored exam a few hours again and PASSED. Truthfully, these videos are incredibly thorough and helpful. First, I read the course, took all the tests and read NASM’s study guide. I found it daunting and stressful to do it that way. These videos helped make the information CLICK for me. Watch both, takes notes on his notes and review those. Helped a TON! Thank you!
Ps. I found the practice tests to be MUCH HARDER than the actual exam.
