Masae approached me about doing the credits theme when she was first planning her Okami let's play. I thought it'd be super fun and when playing around with it, we found it was sounding really cool with kind of a Zora's Domain vibe. We achieved that by just taking the chords and arpeggiating them in the same style as Zora's Domain. We thought it sounded cool so I hope you enjoy it!
I also had a lot of fun working with Masae's vocals along with a new string library and electric keyboard library. This is a bit different than what I normally post, but I really enjoy changing it up and doing different styles.

FamilyJules Okami is one of my favorite Wii games I own a copy of the other two being Metroid Prime Trilogy Edition and LEGO Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. Okami is one of my favorite Wii games specifically because of the soundtrack so I enjoyed this video a lot!

@@zachariousmccool5768 I know this is late, but japanese is incredibly difficult to sing in, and she's generally nervous/embarrassed about her voice. While I agree that facial expression is important, it's her first full cover.
What I'm getting at is this is still a giant step forward, and I think she took it in stride.

I just checked my vinyl soundtrack to see if it was on there and it is. Track 2 on Side H.
I didn’t remember this song at all and it’s probably because I was so disappointed with the ending that I couldn’t remember anything that happened right after it.
This could have been one of my favorite games of all time, but the story just completely fizzled out and utterly wasted Issun’s character. I’m okay with the way they kind of made it into three acts with three different big bad bosses, but there really should have been something to tie everything together more neatly. Instead we get a boss rush inside a spaceship, we fight a giant orb, and then we go to heaven with gay flute dude. For literally no reason. No foreshadowing, just “the end.” Unbelievable letdown. Still a great game who’s first two thirds are amazing.
@@Tohlemiach the ending is supposed to be abrupt though. the point was that by that point you should have kinda put together what was going to play out, and the final "chapter" was just supposed to be a slow, dreading buildup to it. It's incredibly well written, it just doesn't translate well into a video game
edit: not trying to invalidate your point or anything. I've played this game like 4 times so I can understand that I obviously went out to pick up on things i didn't notice the first run through: very crucial things that really should not be that easy to miss. Definitely a flaw in that aspect of the storytelling

I have always wanted to hear Masae sing professionally, and in Japanese it's better than I could have even imagined. I am in love with this.
After watching the finale to Masae's Okami LP, hearing her sing in the credits there (and only realizing it was her after she mentioned it) and hearing her speak of her attachment to the game and this song, you bet I was looking forward to this upload. And it did not disappoint! I really enjoy hearing people passionately gush about their favourite games and the things they love about said games and this is basically an extension to that.

The first few strums blew nostalgia through my ears and it just kept getting better. I never expected an Okami cover in 2020, thank you for this! Reset was a powerful song that helped me through alot of tough times in my youth and you absolutely nailed it, probably beat the original honestly.
If you haven't played Okami and own a Switch, get that HD remaster and experience one of the most unique art styles and adventures you'll have in a while.

Masae's always been a beautiful singer and this cover will stand as one of the pillars to keep this truth standing. I hope for a lot of people they can also use this as a reminder that anyone is capable of creating something beautiful and touching even if they are far from resembling a professional.
Reset is probably one of my favorite video game songs ever, and the first Japanese song I ever listened to. I listened to it almost non-stop back in the day. Another thing I did back in the day was watch Masae's videos a lot...
While admittedly I haven't watched much of Masae's lp of Okami yet (I left off at Ryoshima Coast), this cover is a dream come true. Thank you Jules and Masae for bring this to life.

She's really passionate about this song, she's usually has a more chipper tune to her songs especially when she's joking around like with the Cucco marching song in Majora's Mask, this is a serious song so she emphasizes that with a more mellow tone.

HOLY HELL! I know very little about the Okami series and yet I’m blown away by the quality. The beautiful guitar melodies, the excellent mixing, dynamic camera work, and OH MY GOD MASAE CAN SING!? Is there anything she can’t do? Good at games, an excellent artist, extremely charismatic let’s player, and an amazing singer! So cool to see a more laid back Jules cover with so much talent in it!
Jules, I am absolutely amazed with this cover! I knew you played acoustic guitar a few times on Adri’s streams, but here, I can really see it at its best, as well as the extent of your skills. All the instruments and bass is arranged so well, the camera work is excellent, this is undoubtedly a groundbreaking cover!
Masae, I’ve already said quite a lot beforehand through my letter, but I guess I’ll give you more compliments now that I heard it completely on its own! The way you start your high notes gives me life, which I feel works especially because of the kind of intonation you have. After hearing plenty of Reset covers with English lyrics, it’s incredibly refreshing to hear one a bit more faithful to the original! Plus, I can feel your entire personality through this song and the experiences you’ve been through to reach this point. It also makes me think of the amount of resolve (get it?) it took for you to accept Jules’s offer for a collab after years of being anxious about your singing. Congratulations to your first official cover!

Wow I'm getting nostalgic! I used to binge and practice this song on piano years ago (posted a Reset: Thank You piano video on my channel back in 2012) because Okami was always one of my favorite games ever! And Reset was such a catchy and dramatic tune.
I'm so glad the song is getting new life in 2020 thanks to you guys! If anyone who loves Zelda hasn't played Okami before, I highly recommend picking it up! Beautiful game :)
I was not prepared. It's Family Jules so I know the guitar is going to be excellent but the vocals were extraordinary. There were moments I closed my eyes and I could easily picture the Okami credits rolling. You both were amazing.
This made me absolutely ball my eyes out. The song alone is so incredibly beautiful and precious to me and my love for Okami. But take all of that, on top of just how incredibly talented and kindhearted you two are... it was a match made in the celestial plains. Spectacular job to the both of you.
Masae included this during the credits of her Okami LP, which ended on my 2020 birthday. It's nice to be able to hear the music, without Masae talking over it, and I love her singing voice. This brings back memories of seeing her play through that singular game, and all the fun asides about the mythology and the yokai included in the game... along with Masae studying Japanese in school. It was cool to see her read the signs in Shinshu Field, among other things this letter knowledge affords.

I remember playing Okami on my PS2 when it first came out and it had such a strong emotional impact on me, especially with its music. After playing the HD remake on the Switch last year, that emotional impact came rushing back. This really was a fantastic game and I’m glad it’s still brought back today by people like this. Every time I see Okami, I think of it as a beautiful masterpiece, a swan song made by a studio that really *did* have its Final Fantasy. And Reset is that sad, but bittersweet goodbye. Masae has done this song, and the hearts of millions proud with her voice.

This means so much to me. My connection with my favourite game of all time runs as far back as I can remember. This game has brought happiness to me when I needed it most. Through a history of loneliness and depression growing up, just thinking about this game makes me feel better.
