I’d love to make one of these! I have been pondering for years how to make my own. I would like to offer the idea of a deisel stove. You mention that the heat is already deisel and truck I expect as well. so instead of needing a propane tank continue to use the fuel you have. This will save on storage and as well in the colder months the gas will put a surprising amount of humidity into the box which isn’t helpful, where as the deisel exhaust is directly exited and there is an exchange of heat through a glass plat which when not in use (and cool) can double as counter space. So twice a win in the space saving department. More counter less tanks, and better access to fuel.

Thanks for the comment. Initially we thought about installing diesel cooker and doubling that up as a heater but I felt it was just too slow on the heating up aspect and the actual cooking temperature. (At home we normally cook on gas at high temperatures , like stir frys, etc). I appreciate the comment about the humidity but that is relevant to what you are actually cooking. For example, boiling potatoes on diesel cooker or gas cooker will make no real difference. The only other consideration is in the future- I have an option to install a Propex heater if required. However, they are all very valid comments and I have thought them all through when planned the build of the truck and it really drills down to personal preference as nothing is a perfect fit/solution for all.

The propane exhaust is in large part water as waist in the burning process so it is actually an increase on top of or despite what ever you are cooking. But if the climate your in, it’s not an issue, go for it. I do expect the heat transfer rate would be less as you say. I’m not savvy to the extent.

the heating is going to be fitted under the single bunkbed. It is a truma D6E, we also have an Eber D2 fitted in the cab and as back up- the Truma aircon also does hot air and this runs off electricity as oppose diesel 👍

@@thewanderfulfour OK - but i talk about the missing radiators under / in the benches / bed area. Or will you just heat with hot air?
Don't you think you will have a problem with condensation in the children bed area / at windows? Not to cold in front of the windows
Running noisy heating all night in winter?

@@felix.leiter thnanks for the questions. We will have air con outlet and heating outlet in both bunkbed areas, under the kitchen area and in the main bed area as well as the toilet area. The truma unit is going to be placed under the bunkbed in the locker accessible from outside to alleviate noise from the unit itself. And with the heating on and with the vent/window open, there should be no condensation. Regarding the noise matter, there is as much noise from creaking and groaning pipework throughout the box with the wet system. Furthermore, I wanted no chance of having water leaks from the heating system.

hi Boo, thank you. We use Victron energy storage by means of 2 300 AH 12 V LiFePO4 batterieas connected in series operating at 24V. Total stored energy is 7.6KWh of which up to 80% or 6.08KWh would be available
