    Just came across your videos really enjoying them. We have young kids so its really nice to see how you guys are getting on with your travels. We love Spain but still a bit unsure about Morocco cant wait to see how u get on.
    Plus we love your overlander and would like to build one ourselves one day.

      Thanks so much! Morocco could be a culture shock, but we think we’re going to have a whale of a time! Time will tell!

    Hey love the truck may i ask i was looking and doing somrthing similar. Where did you soce the skeleton for the living quaters of your truck

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  2 місяці тому

      Hey Jack, the living quarters box was built by Motorcraft’s Adventure Developments in England - near Doncaster. Give them a shout and they’ll get you sorted on the right path.

    Looks great, but I don't understand how to travel with such a beast. With my normal car, I can easily camp behind a bush or something, or even hide in plain sight on a parking lot. But with a truck, it seems difficult to park overnight anywhere but at a dedicated camp site?

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  2 місяці тому

      It’s a good question, but in reality it depends on where you want to go. If you plan to spend time in and around cities it is not the right vehicle choice. But we prefer wild places and out of the way spots, and we hunt out areas and parking places where we can go. There are many resources to help find parking spots, it’s just a question of using them.

    Great video, what was the ballpark figure of the build?

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  5 місяців тому +4

      It was about £150k all in but that was a few years ago and now you’d be looking at not far off double that with increased material and labour costs.

    Great build guys, awesome, currently looking at doing the same with an HX60, in NZ to do a global trip, may I ask, why was it so imperative to remove all the waxoil? and would it be possible to just add another HX60 fuel tank making it 600ltrs all up?
    Love to pick your brains more.
    Regards Harold

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  5 місяців тому

      Hey Harold, happy to answer any and all questions so fire away - dm or email if you want?
      Wasn’t imperative to get the waxoil off, but it makes for a nicer finish. But, it is a pain and maybe next time around we wouldn’t.
      And yes, totally possible to add a second standard fuel tank. During build we thought we’d be okay with 450L and wanted to maximise storage, but things change on the road, we’ve saved some space and could give over a locker to another custom tank.

    Very cool. What was the cost from mil surplus in the UK? There are still a few of these available. Also, what type of driving licence do you need?

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  3 місяці тому

      The prices have gone up and up. We got ours for £20k but now you’d be lucky to get one for less than £40k.
      It’s an 18t rigid, so Cat C license.

    Great video. If it’s not a sensitive question, ballpark, how much did Bebe cost including base vehicle purchase? I’m wondering what sort of budget is needed for this type of vehicle.

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  9 місяців тому +1

      It’s a very common question and we’re happy to answer! All in it was about £150-160k but that was a few years ago and both materials and build costs have gone up a lot. Not to mention the base vehicle - back then they could be had for less than £20k, now they’re more like £45-50k or more depending on where you buy from. Total cost now would be much closer to £250k depending on spec chosen.

    • @thelittleredbus
      @thelittleredbus 9 місяців тому

      @@globaltraces thank you. I assume that’s without doing any work yourself? I see the Gap Decaders pushing to do a conversion for £100k, but for that they definitely have to do a lot of work themselves. I guess this is your only home, no bricks & mortar homebase?

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  9 місяців тому +1

      We did a couple of bits and pieces but essentially yes, it was done by others. Phil and Izzy have a great goal and we’re really interested to see how it goes.
      We still have a flat but it’s rented out, so this is the only place we can actually “live” full time.

    Hi there! Nice video!! What happened with your diesel generator??? Not good with the dometic tec 30??

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  9 місяців тому +1

      The dometic had an error that we diagnosed as a faulty main board. It was going to be expensive to fix and they couldn’t guarantee it was going to work, so we binned it off. In hindsight we should have just got this one from the get go because it’s so much more convenient - and quieter and more powerful!

  • @davidpaxton4879
    @davidpaxton4879 9 місяців тому

    Is it possible for you to give an approximate over all cost to build something like this?

    • @globaltraces
      @globaltraces  9 місяців тому +2

      It was about £150-160k all in but that was a couple of years back. You’d now be looking at c£250k due to increased materials and production costs and possibly around 1 year to get a build slot.
