I love the second set! They never finish the Shakedown! It just flows into one of the fastest versions of Playing in the Band ever, the drums are amazing and the whole back stretch although imperfections are there, just rocks 💥🔥🛸🧌

Let me tell you about this show. First, it was the only Dead show I ever snuck into. It wasn't hard cuz I'm a monkey, but I did have to climb about three stories of chain link to get to the top of the back of the grandstands. The venue was a clay tennis court surrounded by those metal framed stands. The court was filled with folding chairs, and as the show got underway, there were a lot of well-dressed people sitting with no clue what was coming. Things seemed relatively tame during the first set, but at intermission a lot of locals made the mistake of leaving their seats and not getting back until after Shakedown Street launched. You can't hear it in this recording (which sounds great), but a lot of chairs, most if I remember correctly, were folded and thrown in a pile to make dancing room. I'm thinking some folks were highly annoyed by that, but I was too busy dancing. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to put a bunch of chairs on the dance floor!? I'm pretty sure they never played there again.😆🤣
