That Jack a Roe is sssssmmmooookkkkinnnn.
Spot on sit!!
Jerry's vocals are as sweet as honey...... :)
just like the honey from the bee🐝
I was an usher for the Fabulous Fox at this show. I was not overly familiar with The Grateful Dead. Funny thing, when we came on duty, pretty much everyone was already in their seat. What an eye opener. The sound in the theater is excellent. It was a blow away performance. I have seen a lot of concerts in my years. I have been to six Dead shows since then. Which I know, is nothing compared to those of you who have been going since 1877. But I think that gives me enough perspective to say, no one I can think of even comes close in concert.
Get outta here
@@ras124 Well, okay......If you insist. Ummm...Would you care to elaborate on that?
Since1877. LMAO! Thanks for the good laugh this morning. Keep on Rocking!
Cool. You are welcome Dirk Evans. Always rocking. Thank you !
So lucky, I envy that. I didn’t get to one til 89.still good but not this level
Now this is a classic Eyes everyone doing everything right.
I usually prefer the 73-74 versions with the bass breakdowns. But lets take a listen
Check out the Eyes...holy shit
So. Many. Adds. Not sure why this show has so many but it's almost unlistenable. 77 I know it's not your fault. Definitely missing the cassette tape days here! Interrupting Jerry's WAWA is blasphemy! Nonetheless I am GRATEFUL for this show! Have a super freakin awesome day, family!
@ Hospital Music 🎶 🎵
😀
Commercials totally ruin it 😢
This show gets overshadowed by the following night. It's ALMOST as good though. The Eyes is perhaps the best version they ever played; Jerry doesn't start the lyrics until about 5 minutes in. If nothing else, listen to this Eyes 1:51:58
Very nice! And Jerry sounding especially good, playing like nobody else can on the jam out of Estimated before
@@billc5060 exactly! You are right. That jam out of Estimated is intense!
@@billc5060 i recently heard the Eyes from 9/2/78 for the first time in a long time. There is a good matrix of that show on archive.org. Anyway, I have to say that the 9/2/78 version is my NEW favorite version of Eyes, ha. I'm sure you probably are familiar with the version I'm talking about, but if not, give it a listen. Damn, I promise you won't be disappointed. It's not quite as "pretty" as this version, but it's fire nonetheless. Take care
The Lakeland Fla shows were ripping too
Yeah its killer
My dear friend went to all The Fox Theater shows , he was an Atlanta native ,
he got me hopped up on the Fox show bootlegs . Then oddly enough , I lived 6 blocks away from The Fabulous Fox the fall of 1985 and walked to the venue from my apartment to see the 85 shows , what a freaking treat ! ! !
Nice!! Yeah, absolutely. The Fox Theater in Atlanta is such an amazing venue. 11/30/1980 from there is a really great night too. I hope you enjoy the shows man. Peace

I too am an Atlanta native and this was my first show. My buddy from Delaware turned me on to his bootleg collection....there was no looking back. The Fox is a GEM
Blam! Love when a plan comes together;)
my first dead show, my first rock and roll show. I saw them at the Fabulous Fox in Atlanta 5-18-77, 4-11-78, 12-17-78 (or was it 4-19?? anyway, my first Shakedown!!), and the last was 11-30-80. What a great time to be a young man!!
Hey Forrest from two years ago. You had cancer then and ruminating on the end, thankful to have dead tunes for supplication during treatment. Smiling to have your first show available to hear. And here you are now, listening to it AGAIN, cancer free (so far!) and deeply grateful to have been left so much auditory treasure by these guys. Life is good.
Can't stop replaying the Lazy Lightning & Supplication - Thanks for the post 77
Oh man decent sound and levels too. Thanks!
Killer!
Slowest Stella ever! Killer Jack-A-Roe!
Another that , in my honest opinion, blows Cornell outta the water , in sound and setlist....I still dig my 3disc Cornell cds but I wish we could have this
..thanx for posting
Dick's Picks Vol. 29 contains both this show and the next night. You might be able to pick up a used copy.
These are by far the best sounding recording out there. Thanks so much for this channel. Peace, love, happiness and MUSIC!!
This has got to be one of my favorite’77 boards from you. Great mix and the band sounds in great shape too!
love that 77 vibe. much love from Cleveland thanks
My favorite run. I always loved 6/9 and 5/13. Never gave this show its due. Great show. Great mix. Thank you for all these great shows.
This performance of The Other One is simply (or stunningly) magnificent. Jerry is other worldly moving around.. the transition into Stella Blue.. wow 🤩!!!
My first dead show
All I have to say is damm Phill and them bombs
High time
Weir plays insane rhythm guitar during the lazy lightening/Supplication jam. So nice hear him up in the mix equal to Jerry and Phil... crackling with energy 💥. Also one of the most heartfelt “High Time” I’ve ever heard, and so clear, you can hear the strings buzz sometimes ...amazing
Don’t sleep on his Jack a roe insanity
Love that "Brokedown Palace." The Grateful Dead have many special tunes, but that one always stands out to me as deeply sacred.
My goodness, WoS. I think you’re Spiderman: you always appear when we ALL need you, which is, of course, all the damn time! That Cassidy? Yeah, heading into my memoir right now. As always....
This is such a great show. Did you know that Reggie Jackson turned 31 years old on this day?
Such a lovely time too be aNEW Head.🌈🌟✨✌💥💫👀😎

I totally was born in wrong decade. Missed much. Will help make sure the music never stops....
This made my night, wow. The boys were on fire
Saw panic there 97 98 new yrs runs. This must have been nice😍
Saw panic and mow and trey there
I love Panic, I have seen them near 100 times, but I don't think I ever caught them at the Fox. As for seeing Panic in Georgia, I have seen them in Macon but not yet their hometown Athens, was at The Philips Arena, ATL New Years 2007, after seeing the two STS9 shows the two nights before at the beautifully unforgettable venue known as The Tabernacle. Oh yea my point was I saw a sweet two solid night run of THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT back in oh, maybe 2007 as well? I miracled some at least 2 friends and also a homeless dude named Gary. who got kicked out for smoking a blunt, but two minutes later he was back in with us dancing! ole Gary,, a real street-guy, unfortunately ended up stealing my gorgeous red-and black Les Paul, but I shouldn't have been so careless. That part is a long story, and makes the full story ultimately bittersweet. LIFE...So it goes! Other than that...good times had by all! Ha! Cheers from Nashville! ~RRR~
97 NYE was the best!! 1990 GA theater is 2nd!!

The rhythmic approach to Jack a Roe is sublime.
Grateful - thank you!
To me this show sounds 'different' than the other Spring '77 shows. Not sure why.
it sounds different for sure. not as 'present' as they say.

I went to this concert while I was in college in Atlanta. Love the Dead!
This is a fukin gr8 show!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
And who am I?
wtf is the song playing between jack and minglewood?
Assuming you mean Mexicali Blues
Ahh yeah son!
Good graces
i was 13 days old
Wow, Donna's harmonies are actually good (which wasn't always so) on Cassady and other stuff. Keith always was the best sounding and best playing keyboardist of any of them, he had that Ragtime piano Honky Tonk Flair and only used organ and synthesizer when appropriate. I was only ten years old but I wish I could have been there. Before the time of the last run of Philly shows 1995 at which on the first night 11,000 fake/ photocopy counterfeit tickets were confiscated at the entrances of the Philadelphia Spectrum on that magical night when they played unbroken chain. Before the time of band members becoming political and using their influence to get people to do things, to manipulate them. Jerry said that that sort of thing terrified him that he could actually have that kind of influence on people and yet look at what they have been doing since 2007. Not one of the incarnations since since Jerry passed has been any good and you know that if you were there. Jerry was the Grateful Dead and when he died the magic died with him.
1978 camping in the upstate NY Oneonta College hills - freezing winter - fire goes out in the middle of the night and this song was playing on my radio - while searching for firewood - I stumbled on gravestones from children from the 1800's - I can still feel the shiver up my spine.
This is a really good one thank you
Play in the band!!
Love
Awesome Jack A Roe
wonderful stuff.
The wall of sound
I know unreal!!!!!!!!! We got to enjoy that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the wall of sound was no longer in use in 1977. They left that in 1974

Kind of ruins the jams, man.
