Wow, how far surfing has come, I was the first I know of on the OBX to get free surfing stuff--Larry Gray, Davis, Less Smith, the boys from Manteo & Wanchese; the Wrights, Crocket, Larry McCotter, Saint, Bruce Shepard, Charles Perry, & the like were the first board riders north of the bridge----Buddy, Johnny & the boys are all the story south of the bridge--Jimbo Ward--loved surfing with those guys.
My summers in he OBX got me into surfing . I live in Sarasota Florida , but we do get some surf ....some !!!!! Better then Lake Ontario , that's for sure .
I'm so sorry I forget the Currituck boys--Lanny B, Johnny, Ray, and the rest of the gang; where have you gone? Currituck surfers have been asorbed into the OBX culture--you boys were once your own culture group----see 1970's Country surf coulture-- Country surfing was where it was at:
