😮Thank you so much Daria. I can't believe that I am learning Russian. This is a language that was too intimidating for me. Today, I took two classes, and I realized it's not as hard as I thought. It's all thanks to you, many thanks.
Daria, you're such an excellent teacher, and you have a quirky human touch that reminds me of all my best teachers, and says that we are on the same wavelength. Yay for making С a snake and Р a lion! (Not a side-boob. Р absolutely was never a side-boob. Totally expunged from my memory.) Also thank you for showing me how to hand-write all the letters free-hand, without slavishly copying the printed fonts or using the dreaded Russian Cursive! I know the Greek alphabet from maths, so it helped to see my old friends lambda, pi, phi, chi, zeta and rho in modern dress. Like you I'm not sure about your handwritten И and Й. I think I will write them classically in my notebook. (I too have learned that writing something down by hand is the best way to learn it). Duolingo is fine for practicing and reinforcement but totally falls down on *explaining* things, so I am very glad to had found this channel. You are explaining all the things that were frustrating me with the alphabet, such as vowel reduction and how consanants can be softened by the following vowel. As a native English speaker I would second what other commenters have said: your English is *exceptionally* fluent and easy to follow. Are you from a bilingual family perhaps? In lesson one you make the very important points of defining goal and time, so I thought I'd put them down here. I'm good with Italian, French and German for reference. Goal 1: Because she has learned my language (to a very high level), I want to reciprocate and learn hers. Goal 2: Learning a new language gives me better cultural insight. Always up for more of that. Goal 3: I'm intruiged by the grammar of human languages and love to investigate their grammars. Moving from the Latin family to the Slavic family is irresistible! Re time, well I'm in London in soft lockdown. Got all the time I need.
How has learning Russian been going for you? For the reasons you mentioned I learned Arabic. It was an absolute blast learning a language so far from my native English. However my mother's side of the family left the USSR, and I want to learn it because it's part of my heritage

Am I a cheater if I'm a native Russian? Shall I be disqualified for fluent speaking?

Thank you mam...my name is Himanka Saikia, I'm 15 years old student and I want to learn Russian.... I wanna say...Really you are the best teacher in the world for me... Because of your help my Russian is more improved than before... Till now I'm not be fluent in Russian but now I can understand something.. So thank you very much... Your explanation and English speaking style is really awesome which helps the students to overcome their laziness..
😮Thank you so much Daria. I can't believe that I am learning Russian. This is a language that was too intimidating for me. Today, I took two classes, and I realized it's not as hard as I thought. It's all thanks to you, many thanks.
Same for me.
I'm amazed that I'm learning russian in english as a french dude ^^

Yup!
I always have captions on, but I keep my eyes off the screen when she asks a question.
Вы большая молодец!
Тем , кто смотрит - вам сэкономили уйму времени и выдали выжимку из огромного объёма информации!
Daria, you're such an excellent teacher, and you have a quirky human touch that reminds me of all my best teachers, and says that we are on the same wavelength. Yay for making С a snake and Р a lion! (Not a side-boob. Р absolutely was never a side-boob. Totally expunged from my memory.)
Also thank you for showing me how to hand-write all the letters free-hand, without slavishly copying the printed fonts or using the dreaded Russian Cursive!
Thank you Daria for your time and commitment to teaching. I really admire what you're doing! Спасибо большое!
и Вам большое спасибо:)
the fact that I can read Russian words in a day and only from your lessons are amazing. I guess this is the fastest language that I can learn. your lessons really works on me. I cant believe myself. thank you so much 🦋

Why is this the language of the communists? Modern Russian is the language of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Pushkin and other famous writers and poets of the times of the Russian Empire.

why is o sometimes said like ''a'' and sometimes ''o'', can you explain when I say it which way
Sometimes we pronounce О as А when it is not stressed. There are some patterns, but, unfortunately, you'll have to memorize most of the time.
Thank you! I was wondering the same
It's called "diminished vowels". She has a sub class on that topic.
But Anatoliy is right, there aren't really any rules for it. There are a couple guidelines but mostly you just have to learn it with the vocabulary words. My girlfriend is constantly correcting me on it.
That's my problem too.
I am learning just for my madness of learning. You're a really good teacher!!! Thanks a lot.
Pls don’t say idiot to your self, you are such a wonderful & beautiful & clever teacher to me , love you from Kurdistan ♥️
