Wonderful sail in the TI. Love all the mods and free use of the motor assist to keep you going. Good repair on the fly for the mast and sail! Keep the sailing and videos coming. Every make it to the East Coast, look me up and we will go for a sail in my TI.

I have a couple of Hobie Adventure Islands that I sail (and fish from), mostly in the Monterey Bay in California. No motor or solar panels for me, but I have done quite a few mods, including a roller-furling jib. The front hatch is a known leakage point on these boats. Fortunately, there are some fairly easy fixes that will reduce (and might even eliminate) water intrusion through that hatch. A few minutes searching on the Hobie forum and you'll find some good suggestions. I use a ring made out of silicone tubing that compresses under the edge of the hatch, and when the boat flexes, it still maintains its water-tight seal. Of course, you can still get some leakage through the round hatches and where the rudder lines enter, but that's a few cups after a hard day of sailing. If you are getting gallons of water (which you were...), then it is almost certainly coming in through the front hatch.
