Over 1.5 years now with my OG AW3423DW (received March 2022) and it has been such an amazing monitor. No burn-in to report of. Just a beautiful display. My Sony Inzone M9 (received August 2022) was replaced via RMA (great support and smooth process) due to a no display issue. The backlight and dimming still worked and you could make out that it was receiving input (you could move the mouse and see zones move with it), but the actual display itself was dead somehow. This happened 10 months in of ownership (replaced June 2023).
For those in Europe looking for ~ 4K 144Hz+, the Gigabyte M27U is hideously expensive over here in most (not all) regions, and the M28U became over 100,- € more expensive after Black Friday, as well. Keep an eye on the LG 27GR93U - compared to the US it's way cheaper over here and it went up only ~ 10-20,- € after BF. Again, not necessarily true everywhere, but it's worth watching.
Samsung is completely insane. It's one thing to offer a very high curve 16:9 display (for the 3 people that like that), it's another to refuse, and effectively forbid your megacorp to make a flat panel VA. Seriously, where are the flat panel Samsung VAs? Is it company policy that any employee who suggested one gets sacked? Luckily other manufacturers provide 16:9 VAs. There are actually a number in the $250-$450 range now with HVA panels. Hardware Unboxed does not review these though. Like Samsung's odd bias to ignore flat panel VAs, Hardware Unboxed has a policy to utterly ignore budget VAs. But yeah, Samsung is insane. The rule should be simple. The big value tradeoff overall in a gaming system is between FPS and pixel pitch. You can either have increased spatial resolution/smoothness or increased temporal resolution/smoothness (and reduced latency), but not both. If you value FPS, then 1080p is still basically the ceiling of value, especially if you play cutting edge graphics intensive games. 1440p is probably the ceiling of value if you want at least 60 FPS with the smallest pixel pitch, but you're more at risk for dropping under 60 FPS with future titles.
@@SimonWoodburyForget True, there are other factors. In the end there is an element of subjectivity in how one weights the factors to come up with a definition of value.
I’m running twin Gigabyte m32u and you’re bang on about it being an average performer. But it’s excellent for productivity. The sheer amount of realestate is perfect for me with the option for a decent amount of gaming. I work from home and spend at least 12 hours on these things
I actually got the AG276QZD for $1130. Considering it’s the cheaper side of oleds, in Australia where oleds are still pretty pricy I’m loving this for cost value. Sure it’s not as good as the asus, but I just can’t justify an extra $600-$700 for a 1440p oled.
I just picked up an LG UltraGear 32GN-600-B from Walmart for $219 right before black Friday. 32" 1440P, 165HZ refresh rate. It has very limited connectivity but, I don't need a KVM built in. To date, it's the best monitor I've owned. I just wanted to get passed 1080P @ 60HZ gaming on an old Dell monitor, and it does that job very well.
This has always bugged me about this channel. Bloody Aussies talking US dollar 😂 . Even if you convert the US dollar most PC accessories here are still more expensive 😢
Recently got a Brand New ultrawide 34'' coolermaster GM34 CWA ARGB 3440x1440p with quantum dot for 290 euros (After conversion from USD). My unit has an impressive 5000:1 native contraste ratio, and not so much ghosting for a VA, and 98% coverage of DCI P3. Not bad at all for less than 300 euros :P
Appreciate the devotion to picking one monitor for each price point. Also the rec to wait till CES is hugely appreciated as I was about to pull the trigger on a monitor just 2 days before CES started! 🤦
Recently bought the G274QPX and so far i am liking it compare to my 4k monitor when it comes to the refresh rate and responsiveness. Currently set to fastest preset., I dont notice any type of ghosting though.. But im starting to miss the sharpness of my 4k monitor.
thx for this round-up! your $700 pick, 32GR93U, was $550 the last 2 weeks on Amazon in the US (might be worth tracking/notification for anyone else interested in it). if it was 240hz, or even 175hz, i might have picked one up... just feel like i need 2 or more major spec jumps before i can justify replacing my 32" 1440p 144hz. could be worth holding out for HDMI 2.1 tho?
At $350, I would recommend the Dell S3422DWG. Great response times, vibrant blacks, and tons of space. Only downside is a weak stand, but I use a desk arm.
Bought the LG GN800, I had a 1080 @ 60Hz monitor and my only regret is not spending more. It was a massive upgrade over my Triassic Era 21 inch monitor though.
If anyone is looking in the $500 range for a 1440p 240hz display and doesn't want to chance it with Asus given their recent track record, the Alienware variant is also on sale at that price point down from $650. I just got one myself and have had no issues, response times are excellent, it can be overclocked to 280hz, and it was factory calibrated. Lately I trust Alienware more than Asus when it comes to monitors, how weird is that.
I got this monitor in India for 650$ should I return it or keep it? I feel the motion blur reduction in this monitor is negligible, which is not good as I play valorant etc...
As I said before those that are looking for a smaller 1440p monitor get the AOC Q24G2A. I have it it's great and Amazon UK ships to the US . 24", 165hz, IPS, Gsync, reviews are out there and have been good.😎
He loves 27" e-sports monitors but a disservice not to tell you about the 48" 4K OLED LG UltraGear 48gq900-b. Currently on sale for $699us. Get a high refresh rate 24/27" 1080/1440p for CoD, Halo. CS etc. and use this 48" as your main for BG3, Starfield, Forza etc.
Can you give suggestions, even just for other resources to check out, on monitors that are good for BOTH color sensitive editing work as well as gaming? I'm attempting to research that right now and even finding consistent information on what one needs for a suitable color calibrated setup is pretty difficult, but the simplest solution (even if it's expensive) seems to be something that supports loading custom LUTs and a wide color gammut/range in addition to having good response times and refresh rates (honestly, I'm satisfied with just 120 or 144hz), but even just figuring out what monitors support custom LUTS is challenging, if anything under like 1000$ even does it at all.
Just looking at price alone is kind of pointless, because there are so many other factors like resolution, refresh rate, and screen size that are going to be filtering the list for virtually all buyers as well. Maybe you hit their combo in your price range recommendation, but more than likely not.
for the 300 dollar tier I would also think about the KTC M27T20. on amazon for 300 currently. 27 inch 1440p 165hz with a 576 zone mini led backlight. 500 nit sdr and 1000 nit hdr brightness that has contrast that will blow away these edge lit panels in the lower price tiers.
I just hope the 4K OLEDs won't be horrifically overpriced, considering the DWF can be had for $800. 34" 1440p UW isn't that much smaller than 31.5" 4K in either real estate or pixels, so the new monitor just doesn't make sense if it costs over $1200.
There’s also the 24g2spe which is just the 24g2spe without an adjustable stand. It’s been working well for me, I got it for 100$ on sale but I think it goes for around 120$ normally.
@Monitors Unboxed Can you review those 0.3/0.5 ms IPS monitors and mention the infamous fast ips technology. I have friends crazy abt it but I have noticed no one talks about them in YT. My gut tells me that is all marketing bs. Can you clarify please? Thanks a lot, love the channel.
LG Ultragear 24GN650-B should be at the top in the group of 24" monitor. It has worse black level than Gigabyte but if someone is looking for a monitor to play games as a professional player, they must choose LG 24GN650 - B. Lowest response rate, brighter, 99% SRGB. The monitor is also bright enough with MPRT turned on and can be overclocked to 149 Hz.
I'm seriously considering a QD-OLED monitor now. I do a lot of work in my home computer, but since it's also my main media consumption hub, I just cannot justify not investing in one. Bye saviiiings...
I got a G274QPX. It came with one dead pixel in the bottom left corner (like literally a few rows from the edge), which doesn't really bother me, and other than that it was a pain to calibrate to match my other monitors, but at the end I'm very happy with my purchase.
12-4-23 it is over now...What I see I got a good deal...Maybe not the best monitor but for the price. I got a Acer Nitro XV322QK Vbmiiphzx 31.5" UHD 3840 x 2160 144 HZ Gaming Monitor for $399.99 before taxes and shipping $436.99 after. Not a bad price. Not the best but it was a great deal.
Would it be possible to do some reviews on portable monitors? It's a niche for mini-ITX gamers that no other channel seems to cover and the market for it is like the wild west with no good information anywhere and quite shady looking products. Your review a few years ago of that ASUS portable monitor was by far the best of any portable monitor, but it's been ages since. Adding a segment for these would be very welcome!
@@Clashy69 it's good. But I think AW2723DF is lacking in motion blur reduction. As I am a valorant player, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. otherwise it is great in all terms.

I’m running twin Gigabyte m32u and you’re bang on about it being an average performer.
But it’s excellent for productivity. The sheer amount of realestate is perfect for me with the option for a decent amount of gaming.
I work from home and spend at least 12 hours on these things
I just bought the Philips Evnia 27M1N5500ZA/00 for £229. Love the colours and response times.
Wish you would also include AUD pricing seeing how you guys are also based in aus as well.
You wouldn't notice the bump to 175hz I promise. You should wait till you can get a 240hz panel at least.
Unfortunately it has a fan which is noticeable. Monitors with fans are a deal breaker.
@@saltysteel3996 I have a 32gq950-b it has a fan and I don't even hear it at all.
thx for the additional perspectives, peeps
:)
At $350, I would recommend the Dell S3422DWG. Great response times, vibrant blacks, and tons of space. Only downside is a weak stand, but I use a desk arm.
Please review Dell G2724D
Would Love to See another one of this Type of Video Just for Europe
in EUROPE we pay 30% more then in USA.
Bought the LG GN800, I had a 1080 @ 60Hz monitor and my only regret is not spending more. It was a massive upgrade over my Triassic Era 21 inch monitor though.
Brighter HDR = faster burn-in.
I feel the motion blur reduction in this monitor is negligible, which is not good as I play valorant etc...
i had the AOC 24g2sp really good preformance for its price
Neo G7 is the one to get, well, at least until OLED matures!
Hey, Love your videos! I have a question. Whtas the difference between the msi G274QPF and the msi G274QPF-QD?
Maybe QD stands for Quantum Dot, i was wondering too
Gigabyte M27U is $549 far outside the $400 price range you recommended it at.
As I said before those that are looking for a smaller 1440p monitor get the AOC Q24G2A. I have it it's great and Amazon UK ships to the US . 24", 165hz, IPS, Gsync, reviews are out there and have been good.😎
The Asus XG32UQ is under 700 bucks. Best IPS monitor on the market.
I am not buying OLED unless it gets rid of burn-in issue and the price should be less than $400.
Was able to snag a G7 for $350 via Samsung’s EDU discount. Was a limited time sale. Can’t wait to try vs OLED.
4k 240hz would look so insane. Hope the 4090 owners enjoy that next year
Got the Neo g7 for $450 after EPP/Education discount, add onto that 10% back from Rakuten and I paid like 425 for it. Should arrive soon
He loves 27" e-sports monitors but a disservice not to tell you about the 48" 4K OLED LG UltraGear 48gq900-b. Currently on sale for $699us. Get a high refresh rate 24/27" 1080/1440p for CoD, Halo. CS etc. and use this 48" as your main for BG3, Starfield, Forza etc.
the m32uc is cheaper than the 32u on amazon! I got the 32uc for 530.00 when it dropped in price on black friday this year!
Oled monitors 100%. All other options are good for either one or the other, not both
Just looking at price alone is kind of pointless, because there are so many other factors like resolution, refresh rate, and screen size that are going to be filtering the list for virtually all buyers as well.
This video should've been before black friday
i am discouraged by the recommendation of samsung brand and rgb lighting on monitors.
Yeah, modern Samsung sucks.
I'm still happy with my M27Q 1st revision. I'm currently looking for a second used M27Q 1st revision to add to my setup.
Thank you Tim. Now I know where a portion of my next patcheck is going😂
The Samsung G8 34" is $899 through Christmas, and if you have the $$$ it's the best I've ever seen.
What about the GIGABYTE GS27Q? Is it worth buying?
Amazing contect as always! Thank you for that!
I just hope the 4K OLEDs won't be horrifically overpriced, considering the DWF can be had for $800. 34" 1440p UW isn't that much smaller than 31.5" 4K in either real estate or pixels, so the new monitor just doesn't make sense if it costs over $1200.
bought the msi oled for 850€, pretty happy with it for now. replacing my 9 year old ultra wide. Stopped liking the form factor.
Sucks that we can't buy the MSI G274QPX anywhere. They are completely sold out on every site with no in stock date available.
There’s also the 24g2spe which is just the 24g2spe without an adjustable stand. It’s been working well for me, I got it for 100$ on sale but I think it goes for around 120$ normally.
Thanks for the reviews Tim. Looking to upgrade my 28" 4k 144hz Acer IPS monitor to an oled, but waiting for the new 240hz 32in is the best option.
The monitor is also bright enough with MPRT turned on and can be overclocked to 149 Hz.
or the updated 24GN60R that can be bough as low as 120€ in Europe
@@GewelReal I gues it is the same thing but GN60R lacks one HDMI port.
What about the Dell G2724D?
Where is the KTC OLED? Where is the Samsung Odyssey QDOled?
I'm seriously considering a QD-OLED monitor now. I do a lot of work in my home computer, but since it's also my main media consumption hub, I just cannot justify not investing in one. Bye saviiiings...
I got a G274QPX. It came with one dead pixel in the bottom left corner (like literally a few rows from the edge), which doesn't really bother me, and other than that it was a pain to calibrate to match my other monitors, but at the end I'm very happy with my purchase.
Should have returned it/return it if still can.
I bought Alienware aw2723df 1440p 280hz for 600$, did i made the right choice??
It’s on sale on their website for $499.99 right now!
how good is it so far? i've been thinking about getting it or the asus xg27qmr/hp omen 27qs
@@caligaming9386 I bought the monitor in India in 56000 Rupees which is 650$... 10 days ago...
@@Clashy69 it's good. But I think AW2723DF is lacking in motion blur reduction. As I am a valorant player, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. otherwise it is great in all terms.
Great gaming monitor video. I see you don’t review monitors for other types of use cases like photography or videography. Any recommendations on where to go for monitor reviews based on those use cases? I am looking for the best monitor for $500 or less to use with a MacBook Pro. Thanks.
The title should be "Best Gaming Monitor" instead of just "Best Monitor" !!
In my country the odyssey neo g8 between $870 to $890
There are many interesting 34" 21:9 displays much cheaper than Alienware. Pity none of them made it as a recommendation.
msi bought the commercials, I get it
For every OLED you cite the risk of burn-in, but how real is that risk right now?
Do you have any good 32' 1440p picks?
Thoughts on GIGABYTE G24F 2?
All of these are a lot more expensive in EU
Thanks for the comprehensive list. It cracks me up to see the Astralis vs Avangar match from the Berlin 2019 cs:go major playing multiple times. That is some vintage cs footage :)
From 1440p 165hz IPS, im waiting for 4K OLED 240hz to come down to like 700-800
Our guy here doesn't blink lol I didn't hear a word
It is sad that 165 hz monitor are ridiculously common but newer aaa games started to become unoptimized to the point that i need too pay 1500$ plus for pc build to take advantage of that 165 hz on that 150$ aoc without massively destroying image quality. If you play older aaa games, esport games, indie games , thats not apply of course
What are the differences that would decide whether you buy the m27u or m28u?
Why is everybody sleeping on the dell g2724d, its better rated then the lg 27gp850 on rtings with the only problem being additional features like a USB hub
Would you recommend a high refresh rate 4K monitor paired with RTX3070?
I wouldnt recommend 4K with a 3070, i'd stick to 1440p. My 3080 struggles at 4k
@@SiriusFPS ah thanks, I'll prob stick with my 1080p for now until i upgrade my gpu
vram quickly would become a problem
