Why do you say it is old fashioned to trim their hooves? I assume you don't have to as much, because yours are mostly outdoors year round. But, how is that old fashioned? Plus, the first Sheep Game video I saw was of you trimming sheep hooves! (Scottish black faced, show herd.) You did a sheep version parody of Graham's Hoof GP. (It was extra funny because I was a Hoof GP subscriber, but was sent from Sandi's Sheepishly Me! )

Very good kiwi gear. I started using Racewell gear about mid 1990s and was amazing how easy they are for weighing, drafting and dagging. My son now uses one here in NZ so see him on Kiwi Farmer on UA-cam.

They’re a great thing to have we’ve had one 5 years now and couldn’t be without it, good to see everything I don’t like about our slightly older one has been changed on that new one you’ve got looks like they’ve got it perfect now. However we never really got on well with the dosing gun since it’s a total nightmare to try and clean or take apart and is just bulky and slower than we are with a manual gun so interested to see how you find it.

That’s a bit different Mark. Her’s are inside and well fed so they need trimmed. Mine are just on grass and outside so naturally extra hoof breaks off. 👍

I’m Still learning on that front. I’m still using my Flockwatch system for my medicines / moves etc. i plan to use the tepari software to monitor lamb weight gain for selected treatment of worms 👍
I’m looking at this and going this would have done Sandy in Canada a lot of good when it comes to sorting sheep because sometimes she not as quick as the sheep and it would give her alot more data points on her ewes health. You showed back feet trimming use but what about the front feet. It’s a shame it doesn’t rotate the feet towards you vs the body. That would be my only critique of the system from what you have shown.
The most negative factor about farming any kind of livestock is, the physical toll it can take, on those doing the work. Any technology that can lessen that toil adds years of productive life. Not long ago many farmers were physically crippled by mid life, or at least dealing with serious disabilities. Back injuries and torn ligaments, from wrestling with beasts that weigh as much or more than the farmer, being the main concerns. It's great to see how modern crushes alone make the operation much safer. The Te Pari does all that, and boosts productivity and vital data collection. Now... If they can just make life a bit easier for shearers!

Perhaps you’ll find yourself favouring this one or the manual depending on how precise the dose needs to be relative to body weight?

Looks like you just flip out the front half of the crush instead of the back half if you need to get to the front feet.

Back injuries and torn ligaments, from wrestling with beasts that weigh as much or more than the farmer, being the main concerns. It's great to see how modern crushes alone make the operation much safer. The Te Pari does all that, and boosts productivity and vital data collection. Now...
