    David, I definitely think you show us more options and I think we’d all value your opinion on the pros and cons of the different models.

    Amazing piece of technology there. A bit of a disclaimer here: I’m 71yo and never been any kind of farmer, barring all the ‘ahem’ gardens my dad had around the county we had to help with. Any way, people seemed to be concerned that the clamping mechanism might be too, aggressive, or harsh maybe. Myself, other than the fact the ladies and gents just didn’t want to be there for any reason, I don’t recall any painful bleating or cries of pain. This was just another day the crazy human wanted to make them take a walk….again.
    Besides, how often would a machine like this be used in a year? Two, three times? Four or five? More? Managing sheep (or any large farm animal for that matter) requires maintenance as well as health care for them, especially if they will be going to market. To do that requires something like this. Also, to point out, the man said the pressure on the ‘clamp’ can be adjustable.
    And please, I’m as much , maybe more of an animal lover than any one else. Don’t any of you wild-eyed, ketchup toting crazies come after me about this. I’m a realist and my name is NOT Pollyanna!

    Love what it does for the farmer , very easy on him , fantastic for weighing and separating but its big money for this system , ive about the same amount of ewes as yorself , no way could i justify that kind of money ,it seems very complicated , alot to go wrong , and deff sore on the sheep when clamping , love the videos keep them coming .and good man Robbie 💪

    Oooooooffttttt! Bit brutal closing in on them. Wouldn't take much to break a leg or neck with that snap. Definitely needs to be smoother and gentler on those little ones. Amazing idea! Looks awesome just very rough and aggressive handling for such a delicate job.

    Great video and would love to see more videos showing all the different technology.
    Looks great bit of kit that but in my opinion the Shepherdsmate is worth looking at and a fraction of the cost of that!

    Would be grateful for your opinion on other models/types. Ive done research on most of them. If you keep 1000 ewes will pay for itself in no time. Obviously for small flocks price is on steep side. But prolongs working life of shepherd. Assume price mentioned does not include eid stuff, eg eid panel, scale reader. Loadbars built it so included in price quoted. Appreciate the vid

    Definitely david show us more systems if you can. Love to see the dagging and sore feet treatment performed in the next ones as you know its an important operation that applies in the calendar year of sheep farmers . Best of luck in what ever decision you take .

    This is going to be a very useful series of videos. I'm still inclined towards the Cotter crate so it will be interesting to see what you go with in the end.

    That looked great. If you move that front sensor a little farther forward, it might be more ergonomic in the standing position. I enjoy fine-tuning devices like that, so the adjustable sensors would suit me perfectly.

    Great demonstration. I haven't seen that make before. Only the te pari.
    My thoghts were,
    Maybe it was the mic but that metal (ringing sound) combined with the compressor would get on your nerves.
    What are the parts that wear/ break.
    Price is always the biggie when it comes to sheep equipment. So if can demo equipment big to the small it will be interesting to see the good & bad of each manufacturer.
    On the + plus side,
    Lambs did flow well and held them.
    Can work at either end of lamb.
    Stress levels were cool - coolish.

    Great demo of the handling system in typical irish 'Spring' conditions.
    I think your suggestion of other demos would be great. Even simpler manual turnover crates etc.
    Also dosing equipment like dosing guns etc. It's hard to get decent quality dosing equipment a lot of cheap plastic stuff that doesnt last.
    Also what sort of dosing regime you use for fluke, worms and minerals you find works for you.
    Good work.

      NJ phillips are the only dosing guns that seem to last. Spare parts can be gotten too

    Love to get your thoughts on the Te Pari System. I have seen that being operated by a neighbouring farm, was very impressed up till the point of discussing the price. Nearly blew an artery!

    • @S_Eglington
      @S_Eglington 22 дні тому +1

      Price is a big issue with these systems. If I have 300 ewes, spend £23k on a handling system and still have 300 ewes my labour efficiency has improved but my cost of production has gone up dramatically. The contactor model makes more sense. Buy a bit of kit for your own farm then drag it round the country working for other people to pay for it.

      Thankfully I'm ambidextrous so I don't mind which side I work. I should have asked if it comes with left or right hand options. Will try and find out 👌

    • @nancystevens4992
      @nancystevens4992 22 дні тому

      I’m not a farmer, but am a leftie. My questions all have to do with that. Can one get access to the sheep from both sides of the unit? Could right-handlers dose from the other side? On the other hand (pun intended), the direction the table tilts combined with how the back section opens looks like it would be awkward for a leftie to shear bums and easier for righties. I look forward to hearing what you find out about this.

  • @AnjiDuff
    @AnjiDuff 22 дні тому

    Yeahhhh not sure if I would be comfortable with that snap action pressure. Especially if they were pregnant.
    It's very efficient system just looks like it's very quick, strong, spring pressure for potential injury against the law of average. Lol.

    I don’t like how hard it hits the sheep. It can’t be good.

    • @sheepschool365
      @sheepschool365  23 дні тому +1

      I did notice that and that was why I asked about the pregnant sheep but really should have tried it at the 4 different pressure settings to see if it was any more gentle!
