It's a good topic but realistically most people over 40 years will be too detached from computers, software, code itself that they can't become part of the software developer economy. Just like not everyone can become a poet, writer or musician in a highly automated economy, neither can most people work towards building or improving existing robots. Just the best of them can and it's an exclusive club just like that of the arts. For the young people right now, sure it's a great career advice but that still doesn't guarantee success because the more people work towards this goal, the higher the quality of their skills has to be and most won't be able to compete. By all means, learn programming languages, don't expect to be the next Bill Gates of robots though, just a few will make it to that level and it's unlikely to be you.
That's bullshit, realistically you can pivot as long as you have all your faculties and are driven. I know plenty of people who go from being a mechanic, an engineer, to computer science, programming, data center stuff. There will be plenty of jobs after the robots get rid of manual labor and risky jobs. Unless you're unwilling to change and adapt, but that's just natural selection.
You're not going to catch 99% of them when they are technology illiterate and can barely work a smartphone, if that. It's not about not being willing to learn, it's that they're not able to, it would take a decade or more to become proficient, even more to master programming languages. Too few to stick with entry level job at an age where they expect senior pay and retirement security. We won't get an app economy just like we won't get an artist economy, not everyone will find a job in this industry.
There will be plenty more jobs than what i just mentioned there. Also, If you can't learn new concepts then again, natural selection. Healthy old people don't become concrete and demented, they're still able to retain and use new information. The old people you're thinking of who can't do anything in the modern world without assistance did not use it, so therefore lost it. Your brain is a muscle you must work out and treat right. If you spend most of your life being mentally comfortable and content, not learning much about the future and what has changed, your brain will disintegrate by the time you're 70, and you'll wonder why time flew by so fast. I know LOTS of really sharp, technologically capable old people.

AI will take over all of those jobs so yea bad logic.
Y’all are paranoid. This can be used for evil but it can also be used for good
My thoughts exactly. Well, minus the paranoid bit.
These robots will replace jobs, people will get unemployed
this will be used for bad. what u think we are over populated. robots can kill without feeling. u can to take out a whole race with kids. u send in robots.u my friend are naive.
But it can also be used for evil 😅
Same like nuclear energy
That robot is so charming. It should host the oscars.
Forth season of black mirror 😏
Metalhead
Yessss. Exactly what I thought
like...its just like the episode...all the needs are the high powered guns. We are already making fusion weapons too...plus graphite batteries to run these things indefinitely.
That episode is more of art imitating life actually
