    Oh boy, i love seeing new players who come to return after playing a good league and really experience how just a bad league mechanic amplifies the very worst parts of poe.

      tbf we probably won't see what people really think about the league until a few days in. People hated Sanctum for example with a passion in the first couple of days before they started to finish runs. I mean it might suck, but we should give it a fair shake. :)

      My take is this, the crafting has insanely good potential, the map mods HEAVILY punish HC players if you arent running a really tanky build. Also alot of the mods seem to just be blatantly annoying.

      I remember people HATED affliction first week. We’re only on day 3 now, as soon as people figure stuff out it will become fun again
      The only league that was genuine trash lately was Kalandra

    Since I started playing PoE I've always found that it was pointless or too hard to interact with the league mechanic beofre the end game which feels like a missed opportunity to provide fun and engagement.

    These days I'm way more interested in the core game additions than the league mechanics. I ignored the actual trials in TotA for ages, I was in red maps by the time I even did my first couple.
    Way more excited about T17 maps and all the QoL additions than I am for the league mechanic.

      I played standard in TotA lol. Had a blast with all of the updates to the game. I'm up to red maps in this league but it looks like I might swap to standard to enjoy the other core changes to the game.

    This is something we've been fighting with GGG on for a long time. GGG is obsessed with extreme difficulty and highly limiting reward systems that are not really conducive to keeping a large player base around. There are just too many quit moments.
    If you can manage to hang around long enough and make it through to the later game, it starts to become enjoyable, but the length of time GGG makes you wallow around in ARPG "poverty" kills the game for most people.

      Yep, I've played just about every ARPG created and there's pretty much no way, after D4 changes for S4 that I would ever choose POE over D4 or LE (and yes I've played a lot of POE)

      @@matthewburt8632 lmao then u havent played a lot of poe , poe as game and the development team beats literally any devs out there they instantly listen to players and changes stuff almost instantly just like they did with this league , i play poe just for that one reason solely just out of respect for this devs which unlike any devs of any game knows how the game actually works and they play it themselves, i started playing poe like 3-4 leagues back and just playing this short while i could definitely say "overall" poe is the best ARPG out there its not even something to argue about, and i have played many arpgs aswell

      @@AntiCx69 First off that’s factually incorrect. Some of theee quality of life changes have been begged for years and they got nervous when they saw D4 patch notes. Also, No matter how good the endgame is, making the rest of the game obnoxious and difficult to play up to that point isn’t fun for a majority of players. They have had plenty of terrible leagues and they were not fixed immediately. Having to use 3rd party sites to play the game is so dumb and bad and POE2 says “we can’t do better than third party so why try” 🙄 and let’s not even bring up the free to play nonsense. It’s free but if you don’t pay your life will be miserable and we designed it that way to make money. 🙄

    I'm a new player on act 4. I crafted in the graveyard twice. Once with intention. Both items were garbage. Now, I still collect the corpses if I see one, but otherwise, ignore the mechanic as best as I am able. I rarely even see what monsters are part of the league mechanic until there's a body I can collect. I don't anticipate going to the graveyard again. Overall I'd say this league is very underwhelming.

      It takes a few corpse to guarantee some decent specific explicits you want, and it takes more to raise the tiers. Usually it takes a lot of corpses to make something good, but it is a lot more deterministic.

      You can get tri ele res gear with life that have an ok roll in campaign and it’s a 4 link on a basis you want, but it takes quite a lot of corpses to achieve that

      in poe u need to know exactly what u are doing , even if u think u are doing something right u arent 99% of the time u need to see guides and stuff to grasp even 10% of any mechanic its just that complex unlike any game

    I agree with you that they lack focus on the league mechanics in the early game. It's not without reason most skip them until maps, when they can, which they can't now. It was sort of emphasised in the Delirium event, where the Delirium fog would be between 1-20+ from the get go, which means you had your stick and your shield and had to beat monsters that required equipment you didn't have, and you couldn't do anything about it - instead of being eased into the difficulty. I would say that is the biggest problem GGG tend to have when they are making league mechanics.

    Affliction was the juiciest League ever in the history of PoE by Leaps and Bounds. This current one is more on par with the other leagues, but you always have to wait about 2 weeks to get all the bugs worked out, because GGG always makes a lot of early league changes. It will get better. It always does.
    You Playing HCSSF for your first league "on your own" is a bit ambitious but I think you can handle it so long as you can deal with dying about 30 or 40 more times.

      @@AmayuOnx Are you okay? Why the hell are you this aggressive about a league mechanic in a video game? GGG certainly isn't perfect but some leagues are good and some are bad, you can always come back in 3 months.

    So my personal experience with the league mechanic is that I enjoyed fighting harder enemies and it also made me think about the kinds of monsters in each map which made the campaign more engaging, when you've played through the game so many times, that makes it say more enjoyable. Also for me, i crafted like 5 or 6 items through the campaign and they were nearly all upgrades, some were duds though. Im actually getting way more duds in maps now than i was before so i think it works pretty well during the campaign

    man, you got carried last league in sc trade with early godly items crafts.. most people learning curve isnt like that, this league you played hcssf and of course you wont be able to get that power lvl up that quickly.

      Nah, Sushi carried him. He borrowed him a day a mirror bow and this is crazy for MF players when you suddenly can run juice T16 affliction. Now he needs to learn the game

    Yeah I was wondering this too, I know a lot of people who are trying to jump into POE for the first time and are running up against it. Some gave up, now you might say "well good riddance", but i think we all want this game to pop off as much as possible, especially going into POE2. For veterans this is expected, but for new players it's a double whammy when you consider how much more complex the game is compared to other ARPGs.

    Raxx has a great point. 90%+ of the time, we skip the league mechanic completely until early/mid maps.. why throw the league mechanic in our face if its going to be too difficult/not rewarding until then? POE league mechanics definitely need much better rewards and tuning during the campaign. Great video! And I agree with Raxx on this one.

      The problem is he's wrong. It's not mandatory at all, not during the campaign. Why did no one spot you had to just click on the zone, not the lantern to proceed without using the mechanic?

      Its not skipable and I still agree with him on the rewards part, the mechanic is kinda janky and doesnt seem to work like I feel it should right now..

      It can't be skipped. If you just click the zone entrance, mobs are still buffed you just didn't give yourself the chance to move the buffs to different mobs. You see the league icon above your skills on the bottom right. If you hover over it you can see what buffs monsters have. This is still there if you try to skip by just clicking the zone.

    Tbh you started with Affliction which was pretty unusual league when it comes to amount of high quality loot drops.
    It was the first league in ages where making currency and getting highest tier of items was RELATIVELY easy, especially for streamer or some1 who plays a lot.
    Necropolis is mixed bag, sure. But the core game is now way more in line with what PoE usually feels like.

      @@TossedSalad69 Sure, I agree. I'm talking more about PoE in general tho. Raxx got into PoE last league and Affliction boosted drops A LOT and entire game felt way more "loot happy" than usual PoE.

      @@Schizm1 When Affliction dropped, and people like Raxx and DM started POE for the first time, everyone said this exact thing would happen lol. Next league was never going to be anymore near as good as Affliction, and they would all see the glaring issues with POE.

      ​​@@TheNichqBro, did you check the new scarabs? Finally you can force any content you want on your map device. This is probably the best change ever. Especially for mechanics like Beyond and Beast it is a godsend

    Everyone was saying this was going to happen during the last league. So many were coming to POE for the first time, and got a insanely screwed perspective of the game because of last season. Now a normal season comes into effect, and people realize why POE has always been a niche game.

      crazy right? People came in to a good league and everything was having a great time, and now ggg has dialed all of the fun back to Zero and nobody is enjoying themselves. Who could have thought that a boring, hard, rewardless league wouldn't be doing well.

      I totally agree. I feel each league mechanic should be fun and rewarding pretty much the whole time. Like early stuff should give you fully 3 linked items with good mods like life move speed attack/cast speed etc. And then open up to crazier stuff later.
      Changing the mods in the all flame feels ok, like I enjoy moving mods that give massive xp to bigger packs etc
      But the crafting is just awful and way way way too time consuming. Should just be something like checkmarking the corpses you want to bury instead of having to bury each individually... didn't they learn anything from OG harvest? It was aweful
      And now that I stopped trying the mechanic the corpses visually block the loot that drops and the morgue is full lol
      Otherwise I'm enjoying the base game changes really good stuff except i miss the left click

    I made one almost god roll weapon with the league mechanic crafting with 20 corpses. It still somehow rolled lighting modifications when i put -700% or something on no lightingmod

    Yeah, it could really stand to have some early game "Guarantee X affix at tier 4/5/6" corpses. They would be complete garbage at end game, but if you could clearly make just the items you need during campaign it would provide that fun injection that is so missing.
    Also, rather than all the enemy modifiers starting as enabled, they should be in a separate pool and you just opt in to the ones you think you can handle, but you're only going to get drops from the ones you pick. I would even consider going so far as putting on the assignment screen the corpse that could drop if you beat that mod. Like you see +4 proj, and think you will skip it, but then it has a good reward so you go into the tank to find a way to play the mod so you can get the reward.
    Overall the rewards are far too divorced from the difficulty. Wildwood had some separation, but it was abundantly clear what you were getting Mobs this much tougher but this much better rewards. Necropolis is "Here are some harder mobs. They might drop some mystery corpses that might or might not be useful. You then have another layer of randomness actually crafting the item where those corpses you used may not even affect anything."
    I am still having fun, but its in spite of the league mechanic, not because of it. Did not get a chance to play until last night, so still about midway through campaign.

    I only just got started (only in act 3) and I haven't looked into the league mechanic basically at all yet. I assumed that if I don't click on the icon at the zone change then nothing would happen, like there would be no mechanic. But it sounds like I may be wrong about that? Honestly haven't noticed anything yet, league starting Pohx's RF Chieftain but maybe that will change later. I did look at what seems to be the main focus of the league in the whole crafting mechanic and my thought was "Well, I probably won't do that at all" and will just hope that the crafty types out there will use the system to flood the market with good items making them cheap for me to buy.

      This is fair. Main goal is to beat the acts and then work on your atlas, and if you ever feel lost, you can farm currency to buy gear upgrades. It helps to have a goal to work towards, like if you're following a build, getting the good items for your build.

      play the game, interact with mechanics, and research ones you like. youll never be able to take in all the information to learn about everything and youll pick up a lot of stuff along the way. i doubt youll be able to have an overall grasp of everything in the game until around 3 leagues after starting

    I'm a new player mostly to Poe , I've played halfway through the campaign about 5 times so far on different chars , just testing things on different chars and what not.
    But I was very excited for this league. It looked awesome , necromancy kind of vibes.
    Then I started it..did a bunch of stuff.
    Crafted about 20-30 items from the grave.
    And maybe got ONE item that benefited me.
    So I stopped messing with it and kinda forgot it. Just saving it I guess? For later on.
    But it's kinda been...blehhhh. for me honestly.
    I started playing grim dawn again today and I was happier. So idk

    At Rax' suggestion, I am playing Butterboy and so far I didn't come across any boosted enemy I couldn't rapidly melt away, until Act 5 where I'm currently at.

    I think that the modifiers are important to pay attention to as a hardcore player, I don't think it's bad that you have to pay attention to the modifers for the zones, I personally like that part of the league mechanic a lot more than affliction, I didn't wanna interact with the league mechanic at all in the campaign, which I think you should be interacting with the league mechanic. You can get some really good early game items with the crafting part of it, Not understanding the crafting is doing you no favors. I personally have had a lot more fun going through the campaign with this league mechanic than the last one. You could say, you don't wanna check the modifiers everytime you go into a different zone, but if you die because of a modifier that you could've moved to a more favorable mob to have it, that's gonna save you so much more time by staying alive and not having to restart. The game isn't new player friendly, it's not gonna hold your hand to learn the league mechanic.

    I've just gotten into maps and sometimes the new league mechanic has really nice rewards and it feels good sometimes, and then sometimes the combination of mob/affixes makes my map 20x harder than it should be and it feels awful. I think the mechanic would be fine if you could chose to opt out of it. The great part about poe is that you can chose how you want to play and interact with most of the league mechanics but the fact that this one is not avoidable AND it makes things incredibly hard at times, is a bit frustrating. Overall I'm still having fun though, at times the added difficulty makes things interesting.

    I Honestly went into Maps on the First day and never cared about the League mechanic 1 bit, only died once and never interacted with it except collect some corpses

      yah Ive just hit Act 7 and been collecting corpses. I don't even look at what the map changes are. I actually thought you had to click 'Enter' from the new pop up that you click at map entrances for it to happen. I didn't realize the monsters have been being buffed all this time lol

      @@krylesangerbeaver legit, gets to a point where you only have 1 empty slot to even move shit around, also the first thing I said as I hit mud flats at like lvl 4 was "I cba clicking on this shit anytime im swapping maps" lmao. Im playing the game like normal and get extra shit cool

    Felt very good during the acts, nearly all of my gear was crafted from the league mechanic. In maps it feels very tedious for little to no rewards, currently level 90.

    When I started doing white maps I started hoarding corpses so I could craft a good quiver with attack speed. After finishing yellow maps I went to the morgue to craft, added a bunch of Speed modifiers are more common and shit, the result was projectile speed, which does nothing to my build, the item wasn't even showing on my filter when it dropped.

    what do you mean with interact? i never cicked the orb en got through campaign no issue. or is it a hardcore thing?

      The league mechanics interact with the campaign maps regardless of you clicking the orb.
      It makes things harder inherently with near zero reward.

    what do you mean not optional in campaign? I am act 4 now and have not interacted with anything. Just dont click on the mechanic think for the next zone, isntead directly go to the zone?

      It still applies the modifiers to enemies. You just don't get to rearrange them if you don't click on the lamp.

    started an mine build and didnt even notice the "buffed" enemys.. just facerolled all of them. About the crafting part.. had the same experience then you but i'm glad that GGG made already a post that they are working on that :)

    I actually had fun during the campaign and was able to blast thru it for the most part. It was when I got to my first t1 map and I got deleted by the mobs with the 6 affixes to their damage that I couldn't avoid. I was barely able to do one t1 map, and altho I know I need better gear, I am unable to get better gear if I can't get currency by doing the maps. I found myself in this weird catch 22 and so decided to leave with the fun I had.

    everyone talks about crafting insane items with high level corpses but so far i havent seen a single corpsecrafted item that wasnt a mid rare

    Honestly i think the mechanic was very good early in the campain to get items. Now in mid game (early maps) its a bit useless because for a really good craft you will need like at least 30+ corpses to get something out of it. I can see it being really strong in the late game again when you can get corpses faster with atlas points etc. Also I feel like someone will start creating corpse recipes to more or less garantee good outcomes for certain items. Because that basically whats possible if you study craft of exile long enough its pretty apparent that you can garantee strong items if you have the right corpses. But thats very endgame. Mid game its kinda meh. Also the red maps extra mob modifiers are quite stupid and ther eis alread ypeople who are just chain opening maps for the chance to get the divine orb conversion or the nameless seer. So i don't know about that either lol.

    Honestly I don't usually interact with the league mechanics all that much. What brings me back is trying a new build and having that fresh economy. Last league was one of the ones that I actually interacted with because of how much power and convenience we get from it.

    Agreed 100%.
    The 2 big problems:
    Forced interaction with a punishing mechanic...
    And the base game isn't rewarding enough in any reasonable play time without a pinata league mechanics, and necropolis isn't that.
    So in this case they multiply together to make this the worst experience in quite a long time.
    There needs to be an opt out, or more preferably a ludicrous rewards system, not locked behind arcane crafting that requires a phd, external websites, a 3rd party guide and 5 hour setup.

    I've been having a lot of fun because of the build I am playing more than the league itself. I am really enjoying the new call to arms gem and trying to make a coc zerker with call to arms to trigger warcries that feed rage and so on

    I'm playing it casually and I must admit that I've tried the league mechanic only once for now and I'm nearing to use it for the second time. It would be good to have two modes of creating the items. One with more predictable results, but low gains (for leveling) and the second (for endgame) with high gains but more unpredictable. Like you said in the video. I've used all the corpses I wanted for my item to be and still got something completely out of touch that has nothing to do with what I've chosen. The corpses were scarce and result was a let down, so I was ignoring the mechanic for now. Waiting until my morgue is full to try again. The knowledge of how number of used is affecting the result would be great from the game, but it's just not there.

      Every zone since act 1 contains buffed (necropolis) enemies

      Even when you don't click the lantern, the mobs in the upcoming zone will have the modifiers applied to them. They already have been decided on for adjacent zones the moment you load into a zone.
      Same with maps; your map has lantern modifiers on all the packs, and you can only shift them around or use an Allflame to replace a mob pack with another pack.
      This is my first time playing PoE. Personally, I am of the opinion that when "leagues/seasons" come out with a mechanic/theme, it should be a core component of the gameplay. I understand this hasn't been the case in the past for PoE, but I feel like you typically sign up to interact with a seasonal/league mechanic when you... click this seasonal/league button?

    Me as a softcore player, for the entire campain, on zone transition, I have just been avoiding the league mechanic prompt altogether.
    There might have been a few tough monsters in there I can't remember. I would just instinctively skip them if they didnt die, like I do with every other 'hard' monster.
    Now in red maps - All Im doing regarding the league mechanic is trying to squeeze rewards from the boosted packsize mob types.
    Other than that the entire focus is on atlas progression and exploring the new atlas skill tree.
    And Im having a blast.
    But apparently people dont like the league?
    Time to skip youtube and reddit yet again. I hope you enjoy next league then

    I picked up poe again during the archnemesis league and had a blast playing it. I was hyped for the season after archnemesis because I thought the game was fun to play and I had also found maxroll that had awesome guides to help with builds since I don't know how to play poe. Anyways the season after archenemesis was horrible I can't even remember what it was, played for a few days and was not having fun so I stopped playing. Don't get me wrong I like poe but I don't like how it presents a "challenge" early on in the game, like getting one shot with capped resists and high health because you thought being defensive was a good idea. I thought about doing this league but quickly noped out.

    I tried Necropolis but after killing Brutus just went back to Last Epoch. I just wish LE would bugfix faster and hopefully optimize the game at some point.

    I agree with you, as a newbie. II started last one 2 third in and manage to build the character to good gear and it was fun. In this one I have been through many monsters that would have dropped something but in this one all white not good. This league has not been done for fun.

    Literally my interaction so far in campaign is to sometimes come back out at the door of a new zone and move the modifiers to the mobs that are more rare at the bottom so I can play regularly. I hate being forced to play and reduce mobility power since there’s no incentive since they don’t drop anything at a base level…. Maybe once in awhile I’ll get a yellow modifier that might give something extra. It’s not rewarding. And the crafting takes forever and tbh it suck’s so far. I haven’t gotten anything of value. I see quite a bit quitting early. It’s a miss for me.

    I started playing poe last year with forbidden sanctum it was a ton of fun. Then came crucible a with a very expensive side order DOA D4 that I can never get over 😂.

    gotten deep in too red maps, and currently it is very unfun..
    it seems like you need too spec into it, feels bad without atleast, the rewards do not seem too correspond too the difficulty that it can provide.
    the crafting is convoluted and it always seems like i am missing something so i only get shit crafts.

    I started to play during Affliction league and it was crushing but also rewarding and very fun to wander around the wildwoods and all that. This league it feels like if you don't want to interact with crafting, all there is left is the QoL improvements and changes (?) idk I miss affliction greatly

    Honestly i dont know if your comparison really means much. Last leauge you were sc, now you went to the total different end and went ssfhc. Completely different. And you weren't doing the leauge mechanics 2 days in last league. Just doesn't seem like a even close comparison

    Bit late to the discussion but I actually thought the league mechanic monsters weren't overturned at all for the campaign. I do agree on the general sentiment that the league mechanic should be optional but beyond that I wouldn't want GGG to focus any more attention on the campaign experience as it's very hard to make a new mechanic that's fun in both early and late game. I'd rather have a league mechanic to explore and figure out late game than something that's gotten stale because I played it to death from day 1.

    85 in hardcore and it only gets worse. The base campaign is so bad that the best way to do it is just get through it as quick as possible. I am a normal 4-4.5 hour campaign player in HC and I think I spent maybe 6-7 hours this time around because I knew how close I was dying on those 1 in 5 scenarios you were referencing that I had to overfarm gear and levels to ensure I didn't die. Not fun for a prerequisite to the actual game (mapping).

    It's fine to up the difficulty to increase the rewards especially if you chose to do it. When the difficulty gets ramped up too early and you have no choice and aren't ready that's bad.

    My start was smooth.
    The random extra mods for packs felt bad, but it forced me to start interacting with it to not get oneshots XD
    In general I don't like mandatory stuff being that hard in campaign, but its not as hard as if affliction was mandatory by a mile.
    TLDR: Mandatory=bad

    I encountered a Yellow monster that I couldn't kill in the cave in Act 2... life regen was crazy... so I just skipped it. Also you're only allowed to use at most (from what I've seen) 4 corpse mods

    Hey Raxx. Love your content. I'm a very experienced player and I loved the league mechanic in the campaign. I thought it was pretty compelling to look at each monster type as I was hitting the next zone and thinking what monsters I wanted to not power up and which monsters I felt my build wouldn't have an issue with. I'd say I didn't really feel the mechanic much at all until about act 4. The monster modifiers weren't very scary up until that point for me and I could just ignore them. I think that makes sense as most builds don't really progress enough an identity to evaluate what they can do well early on in the campaign. I kept my crafting to a minimum for the most part. I had good enough gear combined with bench crafts that I didn't need it. And I suppose for reference, I don't spend very much time in the campaign. About 5 or so hours on average, so even if I didn't like the mechanic in the campaign, that wouldn't have bothered me much.

    I will agree that PoE always has interesting league ideas, almost no two are the same but some of them are a lot better for leveling and campaign than others. For instance, when the torment league came out (the green ghosts that can absorb into rares) I would say that was probably my most fun experience in levelling because they were essentially like loot goblins. By the time i got into late game/ maps they were still dropping decent stuff, but the fun level definitely went down seeing them as they were a very hit or miss mechanic. I dont see this necropolis league going into the core game, with poe 2 on the horizon i imagine a lot of these recent league are experiments.

    My interaction with the lead mechanic has been mostly positive. I've probably gotten 15 raw divines since League start, and I'm into your 15s. Clearly it's going well
    Deaths are mostly from expedition. Not the league.
    The campaign was hard at times. But I actually liked that. But I might be weird

    I think folks just don't put any though into it. Just running whatever mods show up and the wonder why some cold casters with extra projectiles kills them when they are not freeze immune aswell. I get it, it shouldn't randomly be that hard. Well, "randomly". It was a choice to ignore the mechanic.
    Tha being said: I don't understand why it's mandatory either, i have no problem with the league mechanic whatsoever, but being forced to do it doesn't seem to have any positve impact on my gameplay.
    Another pattern i see is: People rush it without any thought put in, get dumpstered by it and then ignore it for as long as possible. Was the very same with Affliction. But then they saw some lootexplosions, tried it out again and put some work in. Turned out to be a very well received league all of a sudden and not so hard to do either.

    This is my 2nd league in poe now, about halfway through the campaign. I got to the point I stopped checking the lantern cause got sick of interacting with it before going into every zone. I have never visited the necropolis as I heard a lot that during the campaign the items are pointless. So Im at a stage where i cant really use the crafting and I have no choice but to interact with the league mechanic on some level so the whole lot combined is tedious. It should be if you dont interact with the lantern then the league mechanic in the next zone shouldnt apply and should be "vanilla".

    Yes the game is very fun and this league does take more work... It would be nice for GGg to make a short tutorial before launching new leagues or at least make the rewards worth it for hardcore, But then again it's all about perspective maybe play normal league so you can understand the league then go hardcore 😅

    Going through the campaign this league was trully painful and unfun.
    Just reached RM and it was not fun getting here either as the leage mechanic is not rewarding if it is not experience.
    Feels like the difficulty is amped as some mobs hit like a truck, while the drops are basically default no matter how much quant/rarity you give to a pack.
    Leage crafting does not seem to work at all, but I still have to check out red maps.

    For me as a beginner, I find the mechanics better than in Affliction. I couldn't take advantage of the Affliction mechanic because I hardly ever survived. In Necropolis I survive and I also have the feeling that I can craft something cool.

    As a moderately skilled player, I couldn't agree more with your assessment that GGG needs to spend more time making the league mechanic more enjoyable and profitable in the early game and throughout the campaign.
    I did ruthless league (as I mostly do) and after taking two character to the end of act 4, I just lost the will to keep going. This wasn't a problem in Affliction. Now, I made the same mistake as you, using 4 corpses only to produce a lame blue item. This was kinda soul crushing being the amount of corpses you seem to get - even post buff - is just pathetic in campaign.

    I think, crafting would be almost fixed, if you could toss in a white base-item yourself - could be a a (very) rare modifier with item-level-restrictions.
    For the Maps - we should always be able to skip what we don't like - so i am feeling the same here.
    For now (in Act 9 at the moment) i have died twice on my Zoo-Necro - both times to buffed Monsters (and visual clutter - who would have thought) - but apart from that - campaign is is a breeze.

    Did not actually notice the mechanic much during campaign even though i did not bother to check most of the time. Yeah there were some modifiers but typically the campaign is so undertuned once you get a 3 or 4 link that even with the buff is not really a problem. Only timne I noticed was in the beast since that a rippy area to begin with so had to adjust them there a bit. Did not notiice much reward though either during campaign or during maps so currently its just whatever ...I get mostly devoted modifiers in maps since I clear so stick that on the most common mobs and its only rarely that the others are a problem ... so league mechanic is kinda whatever currently
    But I gotta say you saying " but then I got my headhunter and started having real fun" ... yeah that was a one league thing. It will be a lot harder to obtaib now and you probably wont have 5 or 6 just laying around again. Its a bit curel for most player that jkoined during Affliction since they will obviously percieve this as a big nerf and probaly dislike the league (without the mechanic) purely because of that.

    In short, when you put more tier for resist for example, the resist is less likely to spawn. +100 to resist rating will make it 50% less likely to spawn. And they will fix it in the patch later this week. The league mechanic with new buffs will be great, not that exciting right now. The core of the game is in a great shape though.

    it's pretty much summed up by you. I strongly prefer to play HCSSF, and the mandatory part is why I don't like it. I have played every league and I can't remember it was mandatory ever before. In maps the mods are getting redicilious and I got two shotted by a white mob while being overlevelled and over-geared (tier 2 map., done for completion). I had missed an important mod. I should not have bothered by it in the first place as it shouldn't have been a problem at all. I don't like that I have to watch the mods on the mobs in every area. I first want to build by character and my atlas before engaging with the mechanic. Now they will likely nerf the overtuning in the coming weeks. I also don't like the necropolis guy popping up at times. One time I accidently talked to him while I was fighting for my life. I do love a more deterministic crafting system. I like the system. That said, my little experience with it was the same as yours. Random crafting had given me better items so far for me as well.

    Pre-maps, the intent of the necro crafting is "oh, I'm missing decent rings, I'll just spam corpses to get some options". The mods on the early-game corpses themselves are too low to influence the crafts in meaningful ways.
    Also, my own conspiracy theory is that the league mechanic is not skippable this time around, to start preparing people for the brutal nature of PoE2 leveling (which I also expect to be MUCH harder than anything we're seeing here).

    One thing for sure as a new player its not the best idea/league to play HC. And the problem with the league mechanic is that you cant avoid them, especially in HC. Because you can easy get doomed with the "right" modifiers for the monsters.

    It's mostly an issue with expectations, if you were super hyped about the crafting and it being accessible you'll think the league is trash.
    My expectation was to just plow through maps with slightly better juice than standard and it's doing it's job.
    I only have 2 issues:
    - Being forced to interact, but this is mostly an issue for HC players.
    - Crafting UX is horrible, having to bury corpses, manage your bodies with only 64 slots when unique bodies exist that need 4 others to combine and there are many of those. This just means you'll always be pressured in morgue space.

    Maybe it's because I'm playing EA. Champ, but during the campaign my league mechanic was fine, plus a ton of exp. Early maps is a bit rough, but I can fix that with gears soon. The crafting is very good for 5-6 links early, but the rest is a bit complicated tbh

    Softсore player here. Finished most red maps, have around 30 hours /played including afk time.
    Overall I find mechanic not noticeable in terms of rewards. I might have gotten one-shot a few more times then usual but wouldn't be able to tell you since I'm bow 6 portal gamer.
    As for crafting, all of my experiments failed and the best I've got is the bow that took almost whole cemetery and sold for 5c. Maybe once we have more information it will be more useful, but so far seems like fossils but with more ingredients.

      Watch grimros video about the crafting. You just need to sit on craft of exile looking at what mods you can block vs boost to find something to craft that will be pretty decent.
      Problem is, as with many bad leagues, the fun Factor is close to zero because you're not playing the game, you're just looking at an external tool to figure out what options you need to collect in maps. Very little of this league is interesting, and they've as usual learned nothing from past leagues like this one. For example the incredibly limited amount of corpses you can store quickly turns mapping into a chore in the same way harvest was because you could only collect X crafts.
      A few weeks in after changes that shouldn't be needed to begin with this mechanic could be pretty good tbh. It's just so tiring that they refuse to learn anything from past mistakes and consistently introduce leagues with glaring problems.

    If the mechanic is mandatory, a reward should be mandatory. You should either get a guaranteed corpse and/or reward affix. In Affliction, as a player, you understood that making monsters more powerful offered you more loot. In Necropolis, there is none of that. There are actually Necropolis monster affixes that actually reward killing either weaker or less mobs. And that is counterintuitive to a game like PoE.

    I have 4300 hours in poe, almost every league since 2017 (skipped a few) i have atleast a mirror worth character, and this league on Day 3 I'm back to playing last epoch. That's how fun this league is. I'm not about to have stockholm syndrome and keep playing poe no matter what, I just play the game I have fun in.
