Let me just start by saying I don't disagree with you at all and that Raxx is one of my top-3 favorite content creators. That said, I think he (and most content creators) are just wildly out of touch with a lot of gamers. That's not an indictment, it's just the nature of his play and the "echo chamber" created by the type of people that can follow and watch his twitch/youtube with any regularity. Raxx (and most if not all content creators) are in the 1% of 1% of 1% of players, and are often followed, subscribed, and interacted by players in the 1% of 1%. Even the "casuals" that are often referenced by these creators and players are in the 1%. There is a *massive* world of players out there that are still *loving* D4.
Did anybody bother looking that that dude's reddit history? He's a veteran, with multiple non-gaming related hobbies. He had almost no gaming subreddit interactions. I'd bet copious amounts of money he falls nowhere in the spectrum of the typical gamers that regularly watch/interact with content people like Raxx put out. And this isn't the fault of Raxx or any other content creator. It'd be like if Phil Hellmuth sat down with you and your buddies around the kitchen table for a poker game with no money at stake. He probably hasn't interacted in a setting like that in *decades*, if ever. Think of what playing with that dude, listening to that dude talk about poker would be like. It doesn't change the fact that Hellmuth is a fantastic poker player, has incredible experience and insights into the game he plays. But the fact of the matter is, the majority of poker players are those players sitting around a kitchen table once a week, drinking beer, and socializing with friend with little to nothing at stake. It's two completely different experiences that neither side can possible understand or relate to.
At the end of the day, the content Raxx and others like him are creating simply aren't for that guy and never will be and unfortunately to that guy (and people who game like him) videos like this *aren't* going to change their perception because both sides simply aren't in the same venn diagram, let alone intersecting.

Let me frame my response this way. I am a 70 year old female who leads a high end raiding guild in Wow. I started playing games in the late 1970's when the first games came out on mainframes. So yes you can say I have been gaming for a very long time.
Of all the content providers I care to watch, Rax is at the top of the list. The reason is his measured assessments and responses to the games he reviews.
I LOVED my Diablo. I watched bliz attempt to monetized and refused to even try it. I didn't need Rax to tell me it was crap although it was nice to hear him agree.
I was all in on Diablo 4. The shortcomings were glaring and with my bliz experience of constant promises and horrible delivery over the last few xpacs (Dragonflight excluded), I knew that they were not going to be fixed or they wouldn't be fixed for a long time. To see Rax agree and not only agree but bring the receipts as to why.
My absolute go to for analysis and guide analysis is Rax. I have NEVER heard any hate. I have heard careful measured response.
Rax gives every game he tries a full try. Even with negative game mechanics or quality of life, he doesn't just sit and badmouth the game. He tries to correct it. How many times have we seen Rax make lists of what need to be changed and why, and seen companies respond.
Rather than ragging on him, let's just appreciate that if you need honest true information, complete with guides, builds, pros AND cons. This is the channel to come to.
So haters, since none of you do this, sit down and shut up.

i disagree partially with you , and i think it became an American thing that whenever someone says something against the MAJOR opinion they are labeled hater, for example i am not a what you call a HATER , i like Raxx i follow him and still do and love his content but i mostly not fully agree that content creators has a big role in wanting to make games fail , even if they have issues they dont help they make people hate it even more , even though i agree about lot of things that for example Raxx says a LOT i agree with , so just as i liked your opinon and read it , you should just be more respectful as a 70 years old woman aka a prety adult woman , so its pretty LOW labeing different opinions HATERS , , at least the opposition that you call HATERS dont make money out of it , but content creators do , so with 1% logic , they just see it with a different opinion but its unessesary HATING them by labeling them HATERS , i think thats something a young person would do not a 70 years old ultra adult . and i mean no offense at all so i appologize if you felt offended or felt i am also a HATER.

Saying that raxx had a video with an overall negative tone isn't ragging on him though, it's highlighting that he seems to have a negative outlook on Diablo 4 overall, and both things can be true. Raxx can want the game to succeed while also not necessarily sounding that way in his video. Watched the same style of drama unfold with Escape from Tarkov and its creator base while it was on a downspin needing to revamp and improve for the game to function on every level they were trying to achieve.

You have always been the most level-headed, reasonable, completely chill person and it's just a joy to sit back and watch you play or play simultaneously. Every one of your videos relating to criticism on Diablo has been productive and hopeful, even when you're disappointed you try to look to future; I don't see how some can see this as "wanting a game to die". If they actually followed you they would know this is not true at all.

It's actually crazy and many games that are on the decline or don't meet the expectations of the playerbase have these fans. "Oh its the influencers fault!" or "Influencers are killing the game!". Yet... after the campfire chat, many content creators said they are interested in the changes they presented and want to check it out. Where are the reddit threats discussing that? Nowhere because like you said in the video, that will get like 3 comments and 10 upvotes at most.

He might not be a dev, but he is good at playing games, he has a sample of the community reactions (chat) and he's able to provide detailed feedback. Not only he is helping the game, he should be paid by Blizzard to do it, since he is helping them to improve a product that make millions on a monthly basis.

Not to mention people don't even have their own opinions anymore, whatever their fav streamer say they will also say , and will follow. So yeah world of content creators for sure ruined game industry to some degree , people believe their opinions more than their own feelings about something and thats a fact. Personally i dont mind , i also watch videos of games sometimes to check what people say , but i never follow any guides or anything i play my own pace and i try to not stick to negative reviews and videos . I think Tribalism is the biggest nail on the head personally. Lately that is what you can see everywhere, everyone is tribalistic about pretty much anything nowadays and I personally think its the main driver for negativity. Everything nowadays is Black vs White, Man vs Woman, Left Vs Right, Meat Vs Vegan, PC vs Console, This vs That, etc. Its exhausting. Its sad we live in 2024 with so much technology to keep us all connected and yet we as a species have never been so disconnected and divided. Its one thing to have differences but to be pit against each other for simply liking something or giving constructive feedback on something is so disappointing to see. Thanks for the good vid as always Raxx keep up the good work!

Raxx, I've been watching you since about Season 20 or so of D3. I don't know how long you were streaming before that, but it was your streams in large part that got me excited for new seasons and excited for that game again in general. I played D3 when it came out and gave up on it pretty early because Seasonal play just didn't interest me until they started giving carte blanche to the Seasonal devs to kind of play with the mechanics of the game (something I actually found out because of you talking about it).
D3 was a game that always seemed surrounded by negativity, and still is to a large extent, but I LOVED that game and I LOVED the Seasonal content once they started mixing it up. And there you were, EVERY SINGLE SEASON, discussing builds, discussing the changes, giving advice, coming up with tier lists, streaming every single day, and all of that drove my excitement for each new Season.
It seems wild to me that anyone would say you were being negative about a game for no good reason after your tenure with D3, which seems to have a terrible reputation within the community. Honestly, looking back, I MISS D3...I miss GRifts, I miss class sets, I miss the power fantasy that that game provided when I would enter a dungeon with a full Inna set and just wash over waves of mobs. I definitely don't miss bounties though.
But I'm that demographic that Blizzard wants to capture with D4...I'm that couch dad sort of guy that just wants something to play casually and have some fun with friends. But there's something missing from that equation that D3 had...I can't put my finger on what exactly it is... maybe it's because I still don't have a single level 100 in D4 yet despite playing since launch and playing a lot of Season 1 and 2. It's strange, because honestly, there doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference between D3 and D4. There are some major differences when you dig into the gameplay, but it's mostly the same sort of arc...level up, build gear, Grifts have been replaced with Nightmare Dungeons (poorly IMO), sets have been replaced with individual legendaries and Uniques...It's still the same game at the core it seems...
My point is there's something wrong with D4 and I'm not sure what it is, or whether it can be fixed...I'm glad to see the changes coming to Season 4...I will definitely give the game another shot after skipping Season 3 almost entirely. But I do wonder if D4 can be saved at this point. There seems to be something fundamentally flawed with this particular iteration of Diablo that makes it less interesting to play for me, and I cannot figure out what exactly it is.
You've made several videos about the flaws of the game, and I've watched a lot of them...but I don't think you're being unfair in your criticisms ever. You and Wudjio seem to quite genuinely want the game to succeed, I can't speak for the rest of the content creators. I think it's important to note that you guys at Maxroll have largely built your brand off of the Diablo franchise. Why on earth would anyone think you would want it to fail?
I blame the algorithm and the viewers in this case. We know well at this point that negative content drives more views than positive content, and I think people aren't looking at the aggregate and simply assume things in a baseless fashion.
I feel like if you wanted the game to fail you'd simply stop covering it, you'd give up on it and play something else, just like you did with Diablo Immortal.

I have to say that of all the content creators out there you have been the one that has seemed the most genuine. And what I mean by that is that you have been trying hard to stay positive (which is a good thing) but you have also shown when you are not happy with the game (yeah the game is D4).
Content creators walk a very thin line when it comes to trust. There's been so many examples of content creators being bought to hype a game, being insanely positive no matter what the players think.
Therefor, at least in my opinion, it's very important for content creators to be ready to criticise when game is bad for some reason.
Staying positive at all times might seem like a good thing to do to keep the players/viewers happy but if that positivity goes to far, when it's not logical anymore, that's where the trust is starting to fade.
An example of that for me would be Rhykker. He was always so positive about the game no matter what and he also started getting invites to cooperate with blizzard. It got to a point where I personally felt I couldn't trust what he was saying anymore so I stopped watching.
Rhykker is in no way the worst example out there so please don't take this as an attack on his channel cause that is not my intent.
And also. I'm not looking for an echo chamber that just echoes diablo bad all the time. But when most players feel that the state of the game is pretty bad we want to get some kind of acknowledgement that we aren't wrong. Since we can't get that opinion from blizzard we turn to content creators.
Content creators makes a difference and especially big channels like this one or the other maxroll channels. Blizzard listens to you guys so in a way you are out voice.
    So again.
I feel that Raxx have done a good job at balancing those opinions.
You've kept me interested in the game even though I stopped playing before S2.
I still hope that the game will be good at one point.
    I really do.
And the only way the game can get better is if the players get a rational voice towards Blizzard and raxx (and others) have been just that.
    Sorry for the rambling.
    Hope it made some sense.

Rax, you are that guy who likes what he does and who constantly helps others enjoy those games. That makes you special (and why I was so happy you branched out to PoE and I can watch your awesome guides there too). Other streamers revel in negativity, they enjoy nothing more than taking something down and shouting at the world how bad it is. Not just in games, look at certain TV shows and how toxic so called "fan" channels are about them. I avoid those like the plague. You may not be overly emotional but to me you always feel supportive, and when I watch your guides I feel a lot less stupid about gaming. (Speaking as a 50ie-ish gamer who certainly isn't at the forefront of any success)

The most powerful way I know to live is to surround myself with people that will tell me the truth. I have to step away from the thought of "making someone feel bad" and I myself should never feel bad when hearing the truth. Some people are scared to tell the truth and some are not. The people just want to hear what makes them feel good are blind while those who are eager to know the truth as others understand it see the sharpest and are the most successful. I say, share information without the threat of violence or repercussions and remember, there is the "truth", like e=mc2 and then their is what I call "the truth of my understanding". That is me telling someone what I'm convinced is the truth but it may not be.

Raxx's your a great content creator I enjoy your opinions on D4. You keep up the amazing work. I hope blizzard goes back to there roots, maybe add an infinite floored dungeon thats not timed. Where you could go down by stairs or portals you stumble across. Have all the main and mini bosses from each Diablo games. Fighting Zoltun Kulle, Azmodan or Blood Raven for example, these can be clones of them. Every 5 or 10 levels down you come across them or they can be random as you progress down. Each floor gets extremely harder by adding more monster hordes and they go up in levels as progress through the dungeon. You could use portals a side missions in the dungeon. You can call it the Ultimate Dungeon of Hatred. That would be amazing too see but that's my opinion.

Raxx this was a great video, thank you for sharing your perspective on this thread. My thought is that in regards to the S4 announcement, your speaking tone was very neutral, though your words were generally positive and (most importantly!) critically thought out. Some folks think of critical thinking as negative in nature, which is simply not true. I've watched your streams and videos for years and that's been the constant - your even-keel tone subconsciously informs me that I can have trust in what you are saying. Some folks who are not as comfortable or experienced with your delivery may interpret what you were saying as being a negative. I'll keep watching because of your integrity and competence in what you do. I hope that others will realize that and do the same.

This video surprised me a lot. I think this channel is great because of its positive approach to game development. Anyone can talk on the Internet and just swear anonymously. I like your constructive comments and suggestions.
Before the release of D4, I was sure that the game would experience a stormy development. And I wanted to be with the game from the beginning and experience the development just like with D3 and other games. For me, Diablo is a matter of the heart. I wish the D4 was better than it is now and I'm really looking forward to the S4. But there's no point lying to yourself about the positives when the game isn't great. I really appreciate that when you say something isn't working, you take the second breath to make a suggestion on how it could work better.
Thank you for your channel. I appreciate your work.

Content Creators are out there with no integrity who create clickbait titles on their videos to pull viewers in, because monetization does exist and as long as that is the case these people will exist, in my opinion this brings down the value of YT as more people realise they have been duped into watching something with no relevance to the title or overly dramatized, it's up to YT to create a way of rating these individuals that is displayed on their videos so you can see the rating before you click it, we must recognise these individuals exist, and so does Propaganda, Fake news, Misinformation, Disinformation and downright extremism content.
Raxx is a genuine honest and open content creator and i appreciate him making a video to highlight the issue.

Sex and hate sell...in the news, "If it bleeds, it leads." The Schadenfreude is real. The more a game company has at stake, and the bigger it is, the more some will want it to fail...it means $$$ and clicks. The guys and gals who ARE in it for the $$ cannot wait to throw the "D4 Bad" Vid up with a cool thumbnail, and then the 'Reaction" streamers get it and multiply it's views. I appreciate what you have done for the community, and for the games D4 and D3. I appreciate your calm demeanor, and the logical way you lay things out. I've NEVER thought you wanted the game to fail; just the opposite! I too want the best for the game, and was really disappointed at the roll out of D4. Hoping they turn a corner with S4, and WILL be playing. For now I'm in LE and really liking it, thanks for the cool build guides! Keep doing the guides they are what I subscribe for, and keep giving your personal views of the games its always good to hear your opinion even if it is different from mine. Everyone is different and will have their own opinions, I liked D4 when it launched but season 3 launched and I did not like the changes and felt there was little to gain from continuing to play the game, I tried PoE and hated it after 3 hours, I am now playing LE and loving it, but in 6 months will I get to a point like D4 and see no point to continue to play, I don't know yet. CC's need the games to evolve so guides can continue to relevant and players don't feel like each season is just a repeat of a previous experience.

This does evoke that feeling of how I feel. Which is "I want Diablo 4 to succeed". Mainly because they spent unfathomable man hours and money to make the game look amazing, now they are so close to making the gameplay good and once that happens it will be a D3 situation where it genuinely redeems itself and goes down in history as a great game. It is already getting there, its just easy to forget the progress they've made and focus on the blunders.

When good studios produce fun games without predatory mechanics we win, you win, and the studios make good money and hopefully become fans of the studios long term. It wasn't a primal drop, or a massive XP hit, it wasn't power at all. It was an RNG surprise that blew his mind. When you have RNG surprises with crazy combinations, things you have never seen before every day, that's what people want to play for. They are looking for the new WOW moment. Not the new buff in power moment. If you make everyone the same power with no upgrades, IS the game still fun? If not, why not? Why do you have to bribe people to play boring content?
