lets be honest, an amp like this NEEDS a controller pedal. What's the point of having all those effects if you can't change them in the fly with a footswitch? Anyway, I can't wait for my Airstep to get here. Besides, back in the day when I learned how to play guitar, stomping on stomp boxes made me feel like a Rock star.
Two things about this... - Being able to change the individual effect using the footswitch is absolutely a game changer. Can't do that with a GA-FC. But some kind of indication of which effect you are using... the LED on the Airstep changing to the same color as the LED on the amp... would be very nice. - Can the footswitches be programmed with any effects we want to group together or are we stuck switch 1 being the booster group, switch 2 being the Mod group, switch 3 being the FX group, etc.? I don't use any of the distortions or overdrives in my Katana. It would be great if I could set switch 1 up to be say, either pedal volume or pedal wah. Can we do that or would I have one switch I can't use because it has nothing but boosters in it? I already have that issue with my GA-FC.
Be nice if you added a video showing how it updates with the Airstep Updater APP (since you indicate you did that), because it doesn't seem to work and their support people confirmed to me the fact that their apps are useless with the product despite the manual saying otherwise, very frustrating!!!!! As such, I see no way to update the firmware on this thing. Hopefully you can shed some light on this. Thanks.
Hey Karl, is there a momentary signal drop-out between channel changing, like there is with the GA-FC, or is the channel changing seemless and gapless?
I cannot get my Airstep Kat to connect to BTS AT ALL either through my iPhone or Android tablet. I have followed all instructions as in the manual and any literature, but it just won't connect. What's going on here?
possibly go into Settings in the iPhone and manually connect if it's not recognizing it? Also, from what I see on the Katana Air download site, it's only compatible with either iPhone of iPad...not Android unless that has changed recently.

finally, a GA-FC for the 50, I will buy it mainly to be used as that, but I appreciate the ability to use KATANA-AIR BTS, I'm also quite happy that the ability to use an Expression Pedal isn't blocked on the back sincethe Airstep KAT didn't have a port in it to connect it to an Expression Pedal, otherwise finally, I can save myself another 100+ dollars with this pedal right here.
Hi to anyone that can help. So I've just recently paid £200 for both the Katana 50 mk2 and the kat air step. Does this mean I can use the official boss tone library app? Haven't had much time to tinker with it yet since work life gets in the way.
From what I understand, the only official Boss app is the one for the Katana Air...but it "mostly" works with the 50. The Librarian app is 3rd party..and isn't free but likely worth the money.
Hard to believe that Boss hasn't picked up on this pedal and started charging $200 for it. As it is, they are dropping the ball by not making a footswitch for one of the most popular amps on the market.
@@Karlgolden you don't get that worked out at rehearsal? I could see parameters being altered according to the space, but that's typically sound design, as in (the PA). And, I don't know how you go about rehearsing material for gigging, but I typically know the exact settings needed for a song so well and all are so dependent on the particulars of my settings (from guitar > effects > rig) that even changing the speed or depth of a chorus (more particularly a delay, phase, or tremolo) could throw off not only myself but everyone else in the band who've also become dependent on the exact parameters and nuances of my entire rig. Not something I've done or witnessed, but hey.... if it works for you. 👍 I will amend that from song to song could be an issue if you needed sharply different modulations from one song to another, and in that respect, I could see the need for very fast adjustments.
I really don't like the shape of those Music Man guitars. They just look like they were trying to copy ALL the big guitars, and ended up with that bulbous thing.

This is litterally whats been missing for the 50. I can use a expression pedal now. And no need to dubble press to go channels.

I believe so but double check on their official website. You should be able to toggle both.

No I’m pretty sure once you set it up it stays. You can save preset as well to amp so it’s always there if you like it

Does the Airstep need to be connected to your phone via Bluetooth to operate or can it be operated completely without a phone connected at all?
Yeah it can be operated without bluetooth, all you need the bluetooth for is the Boss Tone Studio

I do! If I did a soundcheck and a setting isn’t cutting though you can edit it before gig 👍
