Great news indeed. Best wishes to all involved. Godsown is fortunate that Santana have spent considerable sums proving up this claim. It would be terrific if the authorities get behind them and dont attempt to derail the project
What a silly idea it was moving the School of Mining to Auckland. Imagine digging up Queenstreet! My understanding is that O of U agreed to give Mining Engineering to the U of A in return for the U of A giving their Physio School to Otago. So it did make sense!
The proposed Bendigo-Ophir gold mine could require a consent for 25 years, the company’s chief executive told the Cromwell Community Board last week. Santana Minerals chief executive Damian Spring told the board the company expected to submit its consent application in February. "We are on track to submit an application, if we are admitted to the fast-track Bill, in February next year." The company had previously estimated the Bendigo-Ophir project, beneath the hills of the Dunstan Mountains, could generate $4.4 billion of revenue over its 10-year lifespan. However, in response to a question from community board member Mary McConnell, Mr Spring said the amount of work required to get the mine up and running would require a much longer consent. The company will be holding weekly drop-in sessions in Cromwell and Tarras beginning today and continuing until the end of the year. from ...the Otago Daily Times

do you reckon if they did end up putting that airport in out at tarras it would be any cheaper than flying out of QT? little bit closer if your coming from cromwell but no shops out there etc so idk it makes me wonder
@@petefinnegan3873 oh ok, I know they go to aussie and I have travelled to Canada and London from QT with my family, both times we had board bags so driving to chch would have been terrible logistics and besides I quite like being able to park our car around the corner there (for 6 weeks once) and not having to pay any parking fees! 😂 does chch fly long haul? I would have thought literally everything runs out of auckland..
Great to hear Damian Spring’s insights on the Tarras Mine! It’s exciting to see such promising developments in the mining sector. His leadership is certainly paving the way for innovation and growth in the industry.
