My husband and I have been on carnivore for a month now. After a week, we felt terrible. We were both extremely fatigued. Previously, I was very healthy, no arthritis. Now, for the first time, I had a swollen ear, massive diarrhea, skin sore, and I was out of breath - felt like a heart thing. Other carnivore channels just say diarrhea will go away. They don't mention oxalate dumping. I ate lots of oxalates on keto diet for years, so I'm loaded. Wild fruits like blackberries, grapes and apples etc were naturally available in the hot season here in the US and they’re available year round in the tropics . Yams and sweet potatoes peppers and tomatoes grow wild in the tropics year round . I don’t worry too much about eating what is provided by god . Most of the hybrids we eat today have been changed drastically from what they once were so that may be part of the problem.

I will say that finding about oxalates at this junction in my life has been a miracle. So many things make sense now. My platelets were going high again. They started to be dangerously high in 1995. I moved in late 1998 and found a tick doctor (I was lab tested positive for 3 different tick diseases). During this antibiotic treatments, my platelets went back to normal. It was an absolute miracle. However, my doctor died last year. I guess I need to give a bit of background. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. About 8 months later while on a road trip, my doctor called and said my blood glucose was dangerously high. I just cut out most carbs but not too strict. My brain was still a bit mushed from the cancer treatment and surgery. I was doing good but then I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2019. It was caught extremely early. Genetic testing came out negative. It was here that I did more research and buckled down. I decided to eat a cancer starving way of eating. I felt fabulous. Then in the middle of 2022 I started eating more nuts. They were on my approved list so why not? I started making and eating chaffles made with almond flour. Then, slowly, my joints and back started hurting. It was very similar when I had untreated tick diseases. I was so scared it was coming back. Started cat’s claw and it helped with the joint pain but 2 months in, my joint pain seemed to be getting worse. Then my platelets started going up and up and up. I was scared witless. Went to a blood doctor. She tested for all the known JAK2 mutations, I was negative. She said I should go to an arthritis doctor. I knew enough that I knew this was not the way I needed to go. I was already doing a strict keto. Then all of a sudden I had oxalates videos coming over my UA-cam feed. At first I just scoffed because it was so difficult to believe that what vegetables I could eat was trying to kill my. I watched many different sites and it finally struck me that maybe, just maybe, there was something about this. It was so easy for me to just go carnivore with some cheeses, heavy whipping cream, and sour cream. Oh My Goodness! My joints no longer hurt. My back feels normal. I’m excited to get my blood tested because I know my platelets will be normal. FYI: I was told that the platelets are made in the bone marrow and that my platelets were increasing due to inflammation.
Why don’t doctors know about oxalates? I wish I knew about oxalates in 1995. Sure, I had tick diseases but with a healthy immune system, our bodies should be able to fight them. I was literally killing myself with healthy foods. I now know better - knowledge is power. But what is more powerful is to have the knowledge and the willingness to make sacrifices that will change my body/mind health. I am no longer ADHD - bonus. I now love my mind. I never ever cheat!

I was VERY active when I got sick from oxalates. It was the oxalates that ruined my health in the first place. I was working outside, doing physical work, and inside doing very physical work, but I was eating high oxalate foods with every stinking meal. And of course, no doctor knew why I was feeling fatigued, why my joints stopped bending properly and why I had a positive ANA. They wanted me to take a bunch of drugs for the rest of my life. I had NO idea about oxalates. I tried every diet at the time that seemed "healthy" including (what a joke) juicing and doing juice fasts. I didn't even begin to feel like I was going the right direction until I found out about oxalates and stopped eating plants. Still lots of joint pain and joints that won't bend like they should, but I'm better now than I've been in years.

I was completely unaware of oxalates, until I passed a kidney stone! I used an online list of oxalate contents and made an oxalate diary, and it's REALLY easy to eat below 100 mg per day. Most days I was eating less than 25 mg per day. Avoid potatoes, almonds, rhubarb, beans, and spinach and you are most of the way there. Fruit is almost oxalate-free, except for avocados. Some vegetables are very high, some very low, so looking at a list is useful. Grains, nuts, and seeds tend to be a problem, which counters everything you thought you knew about a "healthy diet".

This explains so much. I have autoimmune disease and refuse to take meds for it. My Dr suggested the plant paradox (focuses on lectin removal), which I went into 100%. I was 'cured' of so many problems! My inflammation went away, my skin cleared up, brain fog went away, I had massive amounts of energy, and I lost 50lbs. Then almost as suddenly, my symptoms started coming back no matter how 'clean' I was eating. I found my body unable to consume vegetables - any of them at this time make me sick. I've started to focus more on the meat, and I'm already feeling better. I had no other symptoms, but it was concerning. I take no medications, only supplements and was very puzzled. I quit my supplementation and nothing changed. After starting to see articles/videos on oxalates, I reduced my consumption of oxalates and the bubbling slowly resolved. Started taking my supplements again and I am still having no issues. Plant based diet + high oxalate literally had me crippled. I was on a "super food" wfpb vegetarian for 3 years, was eating yogurt and cottage cheese. Almost everything I was eating was high Oxalates in extreme amounts. Full bag spinach salads, omg I get chills thinking about it. By the end I literally became cripple, my body was breaking down so bad between the lack of meat and extreme amounts of plant. I was poisoning myself everyday. My back and joints were horrible I couldnt move both my arms at one point because my shoulders were so bad. I'm a mechanic so my injuries just never healed and joints just got worse.
The weird thing is you seem to get addicted to some of the foods. One such as pepper, I used to put like 10 of those little packs on my pizza at school.. used a ton of pepper my whole life. I started having back and joint pains at 20. Could never figure out why I was feeling 80 at 20. Going off plants for the last 4 years has given me less pain in my back and joints than I've had since 18, I'm 44 today.
I never had much dumping that I identified specifically. I started on raw Milk right away when I went "carnivore". That may have helped with dumping, I drank 2-3 gallons a week, did kefir with 1/3 of it most the time.

I'm glad you're open to the idea that plants increase their alarm molecules in relation to the assaults that they face in their environment such as oxalates and salicylates that then get transferred to us. What is wrong with the world is Short Memory. Both oxalates and salicylates are life chemicals that have been with us from the beginning but Poison Is In The Dose. So how is it that former civilizations consumed the same foods and thrived but all of a sudden the modern world is melting down after a salad?
NO ONE is taking an integrated look at The Problem. Part of the problem is a psyop called Raw Food. We developed cooking for express reasons of destroying anti-digestion (protease inhibitors) enzymes and if you had HARD WATER instead of municipal softened and aluminized poison then cooking alone would make soap of the oxalates and other toxins that could be skimmed while cooking.
EVEN PARROTS IN THE JUNGLE EAT CLAY BEFORE CONSUMING THEIR MAIN FOOD SOURCE THAT IS A POISONOUS NUT! Nature adapts, people are fools.
Yes, spinach is off the charts in oxalates. I hated it and swiss chard and beet tops since I was a kid. BUT what no one tells you is that beef, wheat, dairy, spinach, and lettuce also contain either opioids or their analogs so in a world where nearly everyone has over a dozen herpes-family viruses the ADDICTION to the OPIOIDS is what drives food choices. It's like being a drug addict without ever knowing that you were using a drug or addicted to it.
If you are referring to Black pepper then that is a unique chemical that inhibits certain cytochromes. Even the ancient yogis in India knew there were two kinds of people without the benefit of clinical science: those who could tolerate or benefitted from cytochrome inhibition and those who were made seriously ill from it. Pretty much I subscribe to the Three Stooges version of medicine: "Doctor! Doctor! It HURTS when I do this!" "Then don't DO that!"
I think 'dumping' is part of a psyop to get people's attention off of the fact that Roundup has so modified the entire biosphere that they talk about a word that has NO CLINICAL DEFINITION instead of doing root-case analysis. Cheers.

Just to blow your mind: Did you know that Vitamin C the darling of all health nuts is a plant toxin put there to deter insect predation?
Caffiene is so toxic that it is sequestered in special cells of the coffee plant so that if you don't keep the leaves and beans and twigs away from the drip line it can kill the plant. Nicotine is a nerve toxin used to kill bugs....

I had a very high Oxalate diet for most of my life (64 yrs) until close to 90 days ago I went carnivore. I was so sick with numerous issues including horrible daily leg pain, chronic exhaustion, sleep issues, weight issues, fibromyalgia, high insulin, and so much more. Since carnivore my leg pain is completely gone in the first week, I now sleep like a baby, (first time in years), have slowly lost over 20lbs; yet I'm having terrible back/rib pains when I get up in the am! It will dissapate as the day wears on, but always returns when I get up in the am. I also developed a bladder infection for almost 2 weeks (haven't had one in decades) when started carni. Tho I've gone from chronic exhaustion to chronic fatigue, to fatigue to just tired over the last 3 months. I share this for those who start a healthy carni diet but wind up with other issues. I know about OXALATES and believe I'm detoxing from them so despite the pain I still feel like I'm healing. Each of the four basic types has foods that are beneficial, foods that are neutral, and foods to avoid - all based on many tests to determine which lectins affect which types, and how certain foods also disrupt or support the microbiome. I've benefitted from even loosely following the diet, and many even today report their issues being cleared up. Worth a look. (And BTW, the Plant Paradox book cribs from D'Adamo's work, although he never brings up blood types at all, so... stick with D'Adamo. OMG I was shocked!!!!! I have more energy, mental clarity, better Digestion, no more bloating n cramps. My fingers use to get numb while I was putting on my makeup but hardly ever now. I consumed 5 grams a day for ten years. It didn't kill me but, man, did it ***ck me up. I'm on 50mg a day now and dumping oxalate constantly. It's absolutely brutal. The problem is that, if your body can't excrete or metabolize your intake (and no one can with that quantity), you will probably redirect it to outlying areas where it will accumulate. That means you can go for a long time before you hit the crisis point. By then your health will be extremely compromised, and doctors won't know what is happening to you.

@@lowella8600 Here is the most up-to-date data based upon current research: Daily urinary oxalate excretion in healthy individuals: 10mg to 40mg. Average person's total capacity to metabolise and excrete (fecal) oxalate: around 250mg, depending on microbiome.
That's 300mg in total that your body can process.
And yet an average portion of spinach contains 1000mg. A spinach smoothie can top 2500mg of oxalate if you empty in the bag with some nut butter.
      So, let's look at that.
You can excrete and/or metabolise 300mg daily. And yet you consume 2500mg in a day ... Or more ... Serious question, Lowell: Where do you think the rest went?
Many people's microbiomes contain no oxalate degrading bacteria at all. Antibiotics wipe them out completely. But even if, let's say, YOUR microbiome is so damn exceptional that it can torch through 1000mg oxalate a day. You would still have 1500mg left in the tank.
What do you think happens to that ...?
If you eat low-ox' for the next week, your body may dump out the residue. But what if you are having those spinach and nut smoothies every day ...?
      I was.
Along with piles of other high-ox' "superfoods". I was consuming 5000mg oxalate a day. Loads of people are nowadays.
We are adopting extreme diets that we didn't have access to, even 100 years ago. Sure, fruit and vegetables are healthy, I eat them too. But humans simply aren't adapted to process three/four/five thousand milligrams of oxalate in a single day. Let alone, day after day for years on end. We need to make more informed choices based upon science and research.

Gut disbiosis will lead to oxalate poisoning. Healthy and specific gut flora will break down things like oxalates and lectins(limited) in a healthy way. The biggest problem is that antibiotics kill off beneficial gut flora and they are never replenished resulting in an unhealthy gut that can’t handle oxalate. Doing the work to improve populations of beneficial flora can take a lot of time vs carnivore adaptation. If adding vegetal foods back in, fermented foods will be necessary to replenish beneficial flora and overdoing it can have unpleasant effects. 🚽🧻👍😇

Some facts that people don’t consider when wondering why vegetables are causing them problems:
Nothing we are eating existed for our ancestors. Virtually everything is a hybrid or gmo. Our ancestors used plants as a survival food when they couldn’t get meat, or maybe indulged in some seasonal fruit just a few months a year. That fruit was also a fraction of the sugar content. Many of us old enough can even notice the difference between now and when we were children. Compare a wild strawberry or apple to what you get in the produce department. 10x sweeter than wild.
Second, early humans, with the exception of some very tropical areas, ate animal flesh and milk most of the year. We developed very strong gut bacteria, that could easily handle the oxalates, lectins etc that we had minimal exposure to. We didn’t eat every damn 30 mins either. We didn’t have numerous environmental toxins affecting our gut health.
I have found extraordinary results from an animal based diet. Carnivore is a healing diet, individual genetics/damage will determine how many fruits and vegetables you can work in after you have healed. Grains are nothing more than slave food.

In the vast majority of kidney oxalate stone formations the causes are dehydration, low urine movement & inadequate vitamin C which only forms increased oxalates in “vitro” (urine in a petri dish) & not in vivo (in the body) of otherwise healthy kidney GFR presenters with moderate magnesium levels. By magnesium I mean a type that is bioavailable, which is usually not available on store shelves. Instead magnesium “oxide” is everywhere, which falls in the lowest 4%+- in bioavailable even in the presents of manganese, zinc, copper, etc.

Oxalate is very reactive to heat. When you cook or roast oxalate rich foods, oxalate will decompose to co2, co and water. There is 0.15 mg /100 gms of oxalate in raw almonds. However, if almond is roasted slowly for 15 mins, it will have only 0.02 mg. So heat does really gets out a lot of oxalate. However, soaking doesn’t remove much. Plus my HRV just keeps dropping lower and lower too. I used to eat bananas all the time. Every day. And for years I had this awful lower back pain. It would come if I tried standing for a time in one spot or if I tried laying flat on my back. Also if I would start going for a walk my lower back would start killing me. Awful pain. @@TheMiriam333 the answer is to avoid those bad foods! Which unfortunately is most foods. I think I had leaky gut for many years which lead to countless food sensitivities plus one doctor I saw thinks its the MCAS. MCAS is often comorbid with hEDS. And the EDS I have is most likely hEDS. I certainly have the skin writing and everything that Dr Afrin mentions in his book "Never Bet Against Occam". And many people on the spectrum have problems with sulfur foods too. Its like they can't process it or something. For the moment I am just avoiding countless foods. The good news is that on this crazy diet I don't catch colds or flu! Haven't been sick since 2018 (and that was from someone who had convinced me to eat a small fruit pie - bad decision!!) ... But even during this pandemic had 0 symptoms of the C-19. I only get these dumb food reactions if I try a food. And I get burning eyes, brain fog, face swelling from stuff like air freshener (which would be the MCAS).
But I do believe all of these conditions work together to make each other worse. I recall one time eating some bread from a bakery before I knew I was gluten sensitive and boy did it ever do a number on my knees! You would have sworn I had advanced arthritis!! I could barely get up onto the bus or even walk a block. And to get up off the toilet I had to hang onto the doorknob and pull myself up with great difficulty!! So these foods really affect the EDS. And it took a long time for the knees to heal! I was just diagnosed with EDS in Dec 2021. I am 50 now. But my whole life I had thought my joints were normal...never realized other people didn't have elbows that bended backwards or that they didn't have toes that go up 90 degrees in the air!

I wonder if most all lower back pain is due to calcium oxalates?

This Oxalate poisoning thing is no joke. It was the missing piece that was killing me slowly.
Seemingly unrelated health problems disappeared when i eliminated oxalates and nightshade plant family foods!

Oxalate is not a joke! My 25 yo friend died after a vacation trip, where he drunk few glasses of star fruit juice.
