  • It's finally here! Fall in New England! I have put together a compilation of some of my past fall house tour videos for kindred spirits looking for some fall decorating ideas. This includes how I dry fruit for many of my fall and Thanksgiving decorating projects around our antique Colonial New England home. Last year I was not on UA-cam much and many of my fall and autumn decorating projects were not shown or seen, so I thought while I am still painting and decorating our home for the cozy fall season, I would share some of my past autumn decor that has a bit of New England flair. One was even inspired by Martha Stewart. Who doesn't like Martha Stewart Fall ideas right?! I hope you enjoy this home tour and I have more fall and Halloween videos coming!

    I wasn’t born a New England girl. Since living in New England for several decades now I never want to live anywhere else (excepting England itself perhaps). There are all the obvious attractions, but there is something else far deeper into my psyche that makes my feelings now, a conviction. I LOVE New England-deeply. It holds me fast. The seasons, the Seacoast, the mountains. There are far more people here now originally from other places than when I first came here. It was heralded too frequently, in print and otherwise, I’m afraid. Still the appreciation for the place is evident from all corners. The place is precious.

      Hi Janice, I am gong to guess that you too have roots here that you may not know about. I think New England calls to those who are. I did not know I was a 12th generation New Englander, via both of my parents, until many years ago. Even my father, who thought his family was from Europe to Canada was actually Massachusetts to Canada and moved back to his roots without even knowing it. Same with my husband's father.

      @@janicebrowningaquino792 TO many invaders and non English types taking over the local and long traditional culture that Europeans created and I'm with you - I don't like it either - all though I'm a souther lady my state and city are becoming unrecognizable in my ĺifetime and I'm not liking it but most do not like it that's been here for generations- no matter how much we protest our cultural norms are being erased sadly and noones listening our kids kids kids are gonna have no place to call home and they won't know their own people

    I’ve already dried my fruit. I did cinnamon bread dough in different shapes.... and even put some brown spray on some of me Christmas greens. They look so much more natural. I decided as long as the virus is keeping us home, I’ll keep busy with fun projects. We’re blessed to have woods behind us. I take my gatherings basket and head out closer to Christmas. Enjoy your home, it’s lovely...

      Sounds lovely Cindy! Great idea to add a touch of brown spray to the greens! Isn't there just something special about carrying a gathering basket? I don't know what it is, but I think so.

    I bought fresh fruit and dried oranges slices for 2 hours @ 200 degrees in oven. . At the end of the 2 hours, they didn’t seem dry so I cooked one more hour. At end of that time still weren’t dry. I added 30 more minutes, turned the oven off but left them in the oven overnight. They are dry this morning but don’t seem to have retained their bight color like yours. Did I over cook? Will the slices become firm as they cool after a shorter cooking time? Thank you for any suggestions. Enjoy your videos.

    • @newenglandfineliving
      @newenglandfineliving  4 роки тому

      Hi Jane, Hmmmmm. On a low heat, they should not be over cooked especially since you mentioned they are still not dry. By any chance did you turn them over during the drying process? Also, the thickness of the slices could make a difference. They should not be too thick. They will dry a bit more in the air, but even after leaving them in the oven over night, I'm scratching my head to why they are not dry.

      @janelocke7747 4 роки тому
