- Hello September and hello Kindred Spirits! It's finally here! This is the time I slowly start decorating to create a cozy fall home in New England by adding layers over the next few weeks, then I slowly transition over to Halloween. I'm also sharing my Halloween theme for this year along with a couple of items I've already purchased! I will also be showing you an easy costume I put together for our Country Club's annual dinner and dance and then I will take you to the party to show you a few more friends dressed up. The color of the candles on the mantel sconces are absolutely gorgeous with the garland. They really pop now. The grey blended so much you could hardly notice them. And love the simplicity of the cake plate and pumpkin without the grapevine wreath. I think it competes with the beautiful mantel display. I love the tall clock between the windows. Its perfect in this setting. Adds a nice cozy feel to the room. And finally.... the country club party looked like so much fun! What a unique theme. The boarding pass and tickets were spot on!!!!!

Oh my gosh!, what fun!! 😆. I love theme parties. I love to dress for the 20’s to the 80’s, and I love any other themes as well. I welcome any them, as I love to be challenged of how to come up with something that works, and looks real. Your suitcase and tickets were a hit!! Never be afraid to go further than you think other people will, as far as costumes and props. I don’t care!.. lol, if I’m over dressed, more than others, I just enjoy the attention, and being in the moment, imagining I am really from that time period, and then I’m usually hearing others say, that they wish they would have done the same. What fun to step out of our reality, and put yourself into another time period, or a role that you know you will never be or live, in this lifetime. My favorites are old Hollywood, and the fifties. 💜
How much fun you had at the dance; it was so enjoyable to watch. Your home looks so beautiful in every season. Here in Minnesota, it is 99 degrees today and I am so ready for the colors and the coolness of autumn.
Good Queen Linda: I just loved how you decorated the table and the mantle. You brought out the colors of the Queen in your pumpkins. You know how much I adore her. As always, looked forward to my “Sunday with Linda”. In the South, we decorate Sept 1 for Fall, and add the Halloween to the Fall decor, then on Nov. 1, we remove only the Halloween and add the Thanksgiving decor. The Fall base decor always stays. Makes our world a little simpler. Of course, the Friday after Thanksgiving ( if we are not still entertaining holiday guests) it all gets put up and the joyous Christmas decor comes out. In our 1892 home, I put up five Christmas trees - all different and and all are 9’ to 12’.5” tall. I love the beginning of Fall decorating. Your home is as lovely and tasteful as always! You inspire me to plan another wonderful trip up North.
I do the very same thing, seasonal decorating (3 months at a time) with Holidays added when they occur. I also start my Christmas decorating on the Friday after Thanksgiving (different themes that come around every 3 years)....This New England girl has found another "kindred" sister down south! ~ Blessings

You are so ambitious to create three different decors in the fall. I decorate with the pumpkins, leaves, scarecrows, turkeys for September thru November. I don't like Halloween so I just skip it!
I agree with one of your other followers, my fall decor goes through Thanksgiving as it's one in the same. I don't do Halloween. My pumpkins have no faces..😅. Christmas comes out sometime after Thanksgiving. I love how Willow likes her benches to look outside ❤❤

I forget to add this. If you buy some artist's paint brushes (Michael's or Walmart etc) you can paint that window frame without removing that latch. They come in small packs of multi sizes, use one about 1/2" wide and you can paint that difficult area pretty quick.
Good Morning Sweet Linda! UGH! I can't believe I missed your "Fall in a Box"! Will I ever get some of your New England "vibe" into my Southern "jive"?? I have been trying to get a New England trip on our calendar for the last two years and something always comes up!! We may just have to get in the car and go!! We do have a lot of colonial history here in Georgia and it has been just fascinating to learn more about that. This was a fun watch!! I decorate for fall from the day after Labor Day and add just a tiny ceramic Bat for Halloween (I love fall but Halloween is not my favorite). I am (Because of how wonderful Yours was!) adding a Thanksgiving Tree! I take fall as far as I can.

September 1st i always add little touch of autumn. Than October add Halloween than November take Halloween decorations out and add more fall colors.

Vintage clothing making a comeback....sourcing, ThredUp (but typically sells quickly) and a local antique shop in Wethersfield, CT. The latter I snagged a pink 50s dress. As usual, Linda, I very much enjoy watching you decorate for the season. Gives me ideas!

Fireplace is beautiful. I have to say I almost had a heart attack when you put a nail in your mantel😬 I watch Joe on Life with Mary Ann and Joe. He uses a painted piece of wood with tails in it and then he wraps his garland on that. If he has too he puts grippers on each end and the garland covers it. It is your mantel, so this is just a suggestion. I love how the table came out. I just love those kind of pumpkins, I have a few of them. I never thought of putting it on a cake stand, I love that idea. How fun your event must of been. Those ladies as Flight attendance were absolutely perfect. I remember seeing them dressed like this when I was young, in pictures and in movies. WOW that was a great memory. Thank you for sharing Linda. I love how Willow loves sitting in the window seat looking out. The perfect look out seat😄

I take the glass jack o' lanterns and turn them around until Halloween, then back around until after Thanksgiving, when they get boxed until next fall.

The sign is a reproduction of a Queens Head taveran sign ,one of many types. Some say Good. The queen is often different or you found the Green Queen Head Taveran. Could look for printable images to make one.
The Tin mirrored scones arrange in different prices and have been reproduce in different shapes and styles even with shell inlays in later years.
