Verdi: Requiem - Groot Omroepkoor & Radio Filharmonisch Orkest - Live concert HD

In dit AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert klinkt de dodenmis die Giuseppe Verdi schreef voor zijn favoriete Italiaanse schrijver Alessandro Manzoni. Bij het horen van Manzoni’s overlijden was Verdi ontroostbaar. Drie dagen later bezocht hij het graf in Milaan. Op Manzoni’s sterfdag een jaar later dirigeerde Verdi de eerste uitvoering van zijn Requiem in de San Marco in Milaan. Vanwege het enorme succes ging Verdi met zijn Requiem op tournee door Europa. Nu behoort het tot de absolute religieuze top­stukken.
