Hi there - thanks for your comment about my R video on UA-cam. I've just launched a channel that focusses just on R teaching. First video was posted this week. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/9kYUGMg_14s/v-deo.html
True but I look at it kind of like that douche in Good Will Hunting i'm not really paying to learn, though that is a bonus, i'm paying to have a qualification i can parlay into a good job.
when I am using attach command I am getting error as "Error in median(pop) : object 'pop' not found". Anyone please help me this if not it is difficult to go ahead in the lecture. when i use histogram i encounter this message "Error in hist.default(LifeCycleSavings) : 'x' must be numeric"
First off, I'm completely new to programming and R. At first glance, I thought this video was useful, but then I tried using gapminder in R. Then I tried using ggplot > Well, it didn't work out. Why recommend complicated functions to a N00b when there are much simpler ones? You don't need ggplot to make a scatterplot, just type in scatterplot in R and then assign x and y variable like this scatterplot(x,y): Done. And as for data table manipulation, use the RCommander plugin, you will be able to do anything you want very easily and it will write out the corresponding commands so you can learn the syntax at your own pace. I'm tired of these youtube channels recommending complicated functions to beginners. It's much better to stick to the easy stuff early on and learn the fundamentals before moving on to more complicated functions.
Hi Greg. This video is the reason why I subscribed to your channel. Why? 1) The pacing of the information is just right (it's fast enough that it doesn't 'drone' on and on) ... and the rapid pace only works because ... 2) The zooming in on the where the audience's attention should be is VERY clear. 3) You chunk the different parts of the lesson, which helps to know what is being worked on. 4) You BUILD up on the final product, so the audience can see the incremental changes from beginning to end. 5) You MINI lesson concepts that you suspect the audience may not have complete knowledge of (t Tests, log plots, linear regression) 6) You save the in-depth explanation of certain sub-topics to other videos! Awesome. Focusing only on the lesson at hand. 7) You managed to squeeze an hour-long concept into a 15-minute video. 'Nuff said. 8) You didn't bother the audience with how to install R, R-Studio, etc. Thank you (this is probably just a personal preference). 9) I'm a teacher. This make me want to explain topics that I teach better.
Thanks for the lovely feedback Marian - I really appreciate it. I enjoy teaching and am delighted to learn that some of what I create is useful. I'll definitely be creating more content soon (especially after your encouraging comments). :)
This is really really great but far from being for beginners, when I was a beginner I did not understand probably 80% of what is being said here. You need to have a solid foundation in Stats to get this. Maybe this video acts a motivation for people to learn Stats and R.
I agree. I'm not from the programming field and the amount of time and energy I use learning R sometimes makes me wonder if learning it is worth. Should I be taking my hours of study to improve skills in a more compreensive software? I frequently think about that.
You are an absolute beacon in the darkness that has been my understanding and application of R , and you helped me remember all the stats from my masters a decade ago. In short, I couldn't have done my assignment without you. Love your presenting style and method of demonstration. Thank you for passing on your affinity with R!
Although this isn't new to me, being at the end of my undergrad psych degree, I must say, this is the best introduction to statistics for University students I've ever come across (judged by pragmatism, conciseness, and spirit)

Dear sir I want to analyse BDHS and NDHS 2016, 2014, 2011, 2007 over the years data in SPSS. I intended to analyse the data for trends 4 different periods and countries and like to merge the dataset accross the years. Each years and country name appears to have in the output. How it can be done? Thanks and Regards
5:00 "Hight" Also this video is more for people that have experience using R... Definitely can't be branded for beginners. But I appreciate the content nonetheless.
It's a very good video, but like others who are BEGINNERS and try to learn from a UA-cam video, the lecture itself goes way too fast. I really enjoyed the video but I hate it when I'm online trying to learn and they speed up the video typing, run it, and then move on. This 16-minute video took me about an hour and a half to complete. I'm not saying the quality is bad, it's just like other BEGINNER videos where it moves a light speed when I still have the light switch off and I'm trying to work with the dimmer.
The heavy work is to get R running on Windows 10! Looks like a Box with several hundred Lego Bricks in- or like installing Windows with several hundred DLLs lacking. I was programming Arduinos in C++- which is very easy. On my compu the R programm logo does not show up. Read through some Manuals- also very confuse. Nobody can get this program and its components into a real self installing routine which pulls all its parts and packages in order together? I will need a guide through the set up process. Once installed it seems to work well and is making good graphics, too. Also got stuck in the R Studio set up. The Tutorials on You Tube are good- but useless if you do not get R running.
Hi thanks for your very informative videos. I need your help to solve a problem. when I load RStudio it issue this error that csuse i can not use correctly a number of package. could you please help on this issue? Hi i am trying to use "mutate" to add a new column B that calculates differences between, consecutive cells of column A... say B2 = A2-A1 , B3= A3-A2 .. etc , using diff() function, but since this new column has one element less , i get an error. Any ideas? I am a total newbie.
What are the chances that I bump into this video for a course I am currently doing, sponsored by the school I go to, and featuring both the country I am from and the country I currently live in as examples?? 😅
regardless from the content, it can be easily claimed that this video also a good example of “how to prepare a good video by simple visualisation”. big youtubers have to follow this guy. i watched lots of programming videos, i will lose my eyes while i was searching commond lines and mouse movement.. where is that mouse sign? are you in which window mate? thanks o lot for good presentation and visaualization of the video and R programming introduction as well. this will really help lots of students.
Can we use R for qualitative data or is it good only for quantitative data analysis? In simple words. What sort of data can be processed in R? Will be grateful for the reply
Hello Greg, i am currently trying to promote my institution that offers training in the R software and wanted to use your channel as a hotspot for my google ads. Is it possible for you to provide me with your email as well as granted access to advertise on your channel? Thanks, in advance
I just self-learn for R programming, and this video sums up the practical method with clear explanation. My suggestions : slower speech so we can catch the subject, and video categorized "R" so we can collect and learn with the same subject :D
like your videos, but seriously, why did they use the pipe | to Represent OR and & for AND // why not just Incorporate the use of OR and AND ? weird R stuff
sir i am having problem with my r in personal computer, it showing > utils:::menuInstallPkgs() this and unable to install any package, and i uninstall and reinstall but the same problem. looking for solution. thanks in advance

I want to analyse BDHS and NDHS 2016, 2014, 2011, 2007 over the years data in SPSS. I intended to analyse the data for trends 4 different periods and countries and like to merge the dataset accross the years. Each years and country name appears to have in the output. How it can be done?
Thanks and Regards

Also this video is more for people that have experience using R...

I receive this message
Warning message:
In data("gapminder") : data set ‘gapminder’ not found Ihow could I solve this?
regardless from the content, it can be easily claimed that this video also a good example of “how to prepare a good video by simple visualisation”. big youtubers have to follow this guy. i watched lots of programming videos, i will lose my eyes while i was searching commond lines and mouse movement.. where is that mouse sign? are you in which window mate?
thanks o lot for good presentation and visaualization of the video and R programming introduction as well. this will really help lots of students.
Can we use R for qualitative data or is it good only for quantitative data analysis?
In simple words. What sort of data can be processed in R?

If you want to compare a variable with welch, but that variable needs to be applied a log function (like on gdp) does the results stand ?
Hello professor,
