Mercedes 560SL upper control arm ball joint cover

Replace the rubber boot on the upper ball joint if it is ripped. This
keeps the joint from wearing, an important strategy as the upper ball
joint is not replaceable and the entire upper control arm costs about
$600.

You want the nut on that tie rod loose when you hit or squish it with that type or a claw and bolt type. If you mess the end of the threads up you are screwed.
