Als Kind war es damals ein Highlight. 1988 und 1990. Schade das es diese Manöver nicht mehr gibt und mittlerweile fast alle Kasernen in unserer Region nicht mehr existieren.
I participated in this reforger,...thanks for posting it, whoever did. I had just arrived in West Germany as a new soldier, in early September,...or so close to Reforger 1988 that as soon as I got processed in to my company after the first week that we all went into full gear for the duration that lasted,...seems like it was over a month if I remember rightly,. An interesting thing happened, I was given a position of responsibility of guarding and helping direct military traffic, I guess cause I had learned alot of german language before service, and it paid off,....some guy came up watching, he wanted to sound like a German citizen, but he had walked in from a long ways,...and his accent didn't sound german at all, so I radio'd in when he decided it was best to leave when I was questioning him with very good low level german, and he was apprehended,....apparently was a russian diplomat who was "lost",...haha, not that it was true, he thought I would tell him how many panzer, where they were going, etc etc,....I got rewarded for that and trained for over two weeks in December with the German bundeswehr and earned a shooting medal, I have the paperwork from the Bundeswehr and the shooting medal still.
Thanks for doing your duty! Me, I got retired about one month before _"Certain Challenge"_, the 8 years treaty expired and I also wanted to marry. So when you were playing war, I was already honeymooning and with my spouse that was kinda war too, but I did love her stubbornness . . . ;-)
That's ironic, because I was watching this video and wondering if this were a Soviet agent making this video, or how many agents were standing around watching this convoy. Your experience proved my suspicion. I thought that my suspicion was probably far-fetched, but i guess not.. Thanks for your service!
Reforger 88---my very last mission as a soldier! I was the WANG's Liaison Officer in Germany and had to find housing for a Brigade of our Guardsmen somewhere in the north-east of Wurttemberg. But at the time of _"Certain Challenge"_ I was already retired for a month . . .
Awesome video!!!!! Thanks for posting it!!!!! brings back Beautiful memories!!! I was there as an FO in the 3rd ID from Kitzingen, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there with the 197th Infantry Brigade from Fort Benning. The old "Buck Ninety Seventh" was a bit of an odd duck, a separate mechanized brigade that got attached to other units. It was a mix of M-1s, M-60s, Bradleys and M113s, I drove an M577 the entire time. Best part was after it ended we spent a week at Wildflecken, got to go to Oktoberfest etc. Good times.
I honorably discharged just before this. Was working as a bartender at the NCO club outside Niederndorf. Close by Erlangen. Ok, close by Nurnberg. Brings back a lot of good memories.
Herrenmagazine :D

I remember those years when I was stationed in (West) Germany. Living in MAINZ
Great video.
Last Reforger for me was Certain Sentinel.....

The vehicle id signs on the back of the tanks turrets look like Bravo and Alpha Company of 3-64 Armor Battalion 3ID.
Anyone remember railhead Jesus at graf? We would throw MREs to him. 2/64 Armor Schwienfurt 87-89
M2 Bradleys M113 and M59 APC
76 to 78 HHC 1 bde 3AD motor pool I was in plenty of f.t.x s our company live in the field just about all year
77-80 HHC 1st AD motorpool. You probably won't shed a tear but we spent all summer in Hohenfels.
Seems more like a silly little parade than a real REFORGER
the interstate is a parade too until you get to where you wanted to go.
