Sorry, Shawn, been away for a bit , too many health problems, hospital stays ,tests ,scans and all sorts of other crap !!! BUT, the good thing is that there’s an awful lot to “Binge watch “ to catch up so it’s hard work but someone’s got to do it ! Thanks for waiting around for me. Very sincerely, Rod

Great to see Shawn's wife at the cabin again, and to have your wife hunt with you...I could only dream of mine going with me once in awhile. I really like the low-light shot looking out the kitchen window, where the Berkey filter is on the right. It already looks like a well-lived in home, even though it's only a couple or few years old. I've had a Berkey for a few years now. It's great. Since there's only two of us, I figured, based on the Berkey website, that the two filters in ours are good for 16 years...one gallon a day. Anyone else use Berkey?
I have had the travel Berkey with 2 filters for 18 months. They are good for 6000 gallons. I am 80, so at 1 gallon a day which I drink it should last me the rest if my life.
Shawn I bet your wife thinks she is the luckiest woman in the world. I don't think she's wrong. You're a good man I've got much respect for you in so many ways. Enjoy your life and God bless

Love to hear how many different ways do you preserve your deer 🦌? Sure hope you have videos of your hunting adventures, my husband just got his first crossbow this year and honestly I’ve never shot one yet but excited to try and learn! Would love to hear any tips, happy hunting 2023 for you, and your family!
Really liked the hunting side of this video, it's harder than people who don't hunt realize. I've done it and it does involve a learned skillset. @@tommychew6544 The problem with fishing in certain areas is that hydroelectric dams have made it so fish can't actually spawn properly anymore. Some areas only have fish for fishing because fisheries stock the fish for people to fish for. If those areas were to stop being stocked by fisheries, where the fisheries release small fish that were spawned in hatcheries, to grow up and be caught in certain lakes and rivers, there wouldn't be fish in them anymore... unless the hydroelectric dams blocking the rivers were removed. So, in some areas, not even "wild fish" are actually wild.

Hello Shawn, the photos turned out beautifully again, they remind me of my childhood. For me, being outside after dark and the soft light of the houses coming out has always been the beginning of the Christmas season! Shawn, watching you build this cabin and everything in it from start to finish is nothing short of amazing. I'm looking forward to your future projects and will stay tuned. Tell the wife and kid's to visit more often, it gets lonely out there sometimes. Lol
We can't wait for you and your family to spend very soon on your first Christmas/ Thanksgiving in your new cabin. I remember watched the old video on your old cabin with your family.....Love it so much.

Just wanted to comment on your last video on this years deer hunt. I’m not a hunter but a very close friend was a bow hunter & shared with me, our love for the outdoors. He & I spent many good times at his cabin on the Mainland River. Unfortunately we lost him to cancer some years ago. But watching your videos, are a wonderful reminder of those special times. For that, I thank you.
A dear humble man..... respectful of avoiding disrupting balance of Mother Nature..... A man with focus and drive, to guide viewers toward the realities of making Self Reliance work! A talented cinematographer, with the best of friends, to see mission success, all the way to fulfilling incremental goals..... A more caring husband or father never will exist. I only wisht me had better video of the pizza oven construction!
Wow!! You have moose, deers and bears coming to you on your property!!!! This is a dream come through for hunters. They would give everything to have what you have. Cuddos to you, you deserve everything you have accomplished in your life….
How beautiful the woods look with the early winter dusting of snow now. Great to see you sharing a good meal with Mrs. James, and laying in more firewood and kindling before the heavier snow covers everything.

On the 31st we had 3+ inches of snow in s.e. Wisconsin! Luckily it's all gone now with temps in the low 50's and upper 40's. Glad to see your wife has joined you and will enjoy bow hunting too. Wishing you safety and good results!

Thank you Mr Shawn, I asked to put the subtitles in Portuguese and you responded, very good, now it's easier for us from South America to understand your videos, thank you
Hello Shawn, Could you do a segment about picking out a bow and various types of bows/arrows. Things to consider. How to purchase the correct bow/arrows etc. breakdown bows, also looking for a tanned quiver w fringe, could you provide resources? You seem very knowledgeable in this area. Thinking recreational competition, hunting turkeys and maybe deer. Have been watching your channel for years. It’s the BEST on UA-cam. Love your nature shots and vistas and music, especially that short banjo piece you use…love it. This cabin is so much more beautiful than the last. You truly love what you do. I admire you and what you do tremendously, and think you are providing such valuable information to so many. I think you’ve reached your dream for sure….such perfection…and best way to stay healthy!

Corned Beef - sauté with potatoes. Put a poached egg on top. Salty so you need ketchup on hand.

He & I spent many good times at his cabin on the Mainland River. Unfortunately we lost him to cancer some years ago. But watching your videos, are a wonderful reminder of those special times. For that, I thank you.
My goodness your space is beautiful. And through this video I vicariously gain a bigger sense of freedom. For which I am thankful ✨
Hi Shawn another great video thankyou. Beautiful landscape. Your & your wife’s meal looked very tasty.

Wow!! You have moose, deers and bears coming to you on your property!!!! This is a dream come through for hunters. They would give everything to have what you have. Cuddos to you, you deserve everything you have accomplished in your life….
The OG at it again,...always an experience watching you Shawn. Love and appreciate MSR.
How beautiful the woods look with the early winter dusting of snow now. Great to see you sharing a good meal with Mrs. James, and laying in more firewood and kindling before the heavier snow covers everything.
How I envy you this beautiful and wonderful snowy atmosphere and this view in front of the wood stove...🔥🏂⛷️‼️⁉️
Shawn & Family,
Great video, and thank you for sharing.
Take care, all the best, and God bless.

On the 31st we had 3+ inches of snow in s.e. Wisconsin! Luckily it's all gone now with temps in the low 50's and upper 40's.
Glad to see your wife has joined you and will enjoy bow hunting too. Wishing you safety and good results!
I’m also from southeastern Wisconsin

Zdravim Vás..sledujem Vás roky... Ďakujem.. Ján.... Slovakia
