Thanks for the video! I've been driving around for way too long with a driver's side window that doesn't work. $30 plus your instructional video means I'm not embarrassed in the drive through any more.
Top notch video! I didn't need to replace the regulator but the glass had become detached from the clamps (which had somehow ended up in the bottom of the door!) and this video enabled me to realise what the problem was and fix it within about 20 minutes... An absolute godsend as it's the middle of summer and my A/C has also stopped working :( Thanks so much!!

Very helpful! Don't make the same mistake I made and make sure that you have all of the little parts of the old regulator before installing your new one. I didn't notice that the window clip fell out when taking it out.
Very nice video! I'm not sure if the regulator you sell already has the 4 rubber pieces included or not but if not, installers should pull them off the old one and reinstall. There are one each on the bottom of the rail and one each midway up.
Great video! I removed the door panel on '05 9-3 and noticed the cable was frayed. Do I need to replace the whole regulator and how do you reattach that cable?
+Raul Portillo If the cable is frayed then you will have to replace the regulator. You cannot just replace the cable. www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Saab/9-3/1AWRG01795?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&AMjJo8Fej04
Hi, i somewhat have the same problem as John. The only difference is that it still stays up when i am driving. It first started when I would hear a bump sound coming from with in the door panel every time I would lower and raise the window. Finally one day, the window was stuck in the down position and would not go up on it's own power. So I had to pull on the window as I pulled on the up button for my window. What would I need to replace? Thinking of inspecting, before i make any purchase
make sure when you tighten the clips that hold the glass in place that you torque them down as hard as you can. Both of mine came out and stopped functioning six months later. Put them back into the clips and they seem to be working again.
Great video! I have a 2011 9-3 and my passenger side window won't move. The motor clicks when I activate the button but the window is jammed shut. Do you have any thoughts on this? My service guy said the motor was needing replaced but that was a diagnosis he made without even looking at it.
In my 2003 saab 9-3 linear the passenger window goes up and down slowly, and when it gets to the top it doesn't go all the way up. When driving you can hear a small air crack but cannot see it. Do you think its a regulator I need or a new motor?
Awesome video, incredibly helpful! I got my regulator replaced easily, however I cant seem to get the window to move smoothly. The motor struggles and barely moves the window, do I need to grease something?
Shoot I just did this and forgot to clip the cable on the inside top of door after I closed the door back up. Wonder how much that matters??? Or does it just stop it from making noise?
i just finished replacing my regulator and I would never have been able to figure this out on my own. One thing that happened was the left side window clamp rubber piece fell out while I was trying to slide window back into place. If I didnt catch that I prob would be replacing the window cuz it would most likely shatter from metal on to glass pressure from clamp. Lucky for me I noticed it. Next I am doing my blower motor
"Usually" you need to remove the window from the regulator, and slide the glass out of the top of the door. You may need to wiggle it around and play with the angles a bit to get the glass in or out of the door. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Here's some helpful tips: Leave the battery connected. Remove the door panel, leaving the electrical connectors still connected. With a utility knife, carefully cut the adhesive of the rain guard by the door lock up/down knob, exposing the interior of the door. Then actuate the window switch and lower the window enough so that the nut that fastens the window into the regulator is visible. WIS says 5 cm. (2"). If you don't lower the window, getting to the nuts holding the window in will be next to impossible. Then disconnect the battery, disconnect the wire connectors then proceed to remove the regulator.
2011 9-3, passenger side. I'm thinking about doing this job myself, actually helping my son! After watching the video, I'm not sure it's something we can do. But the dealer wants 400+ to do it. What do you think the hardest part of this job is and what should we be really careful with? How long should this take? I'm going back to watch the end of the video now. Thanks!!!
+Bob Collins If you follow the video you should be okay. Here is a link to the replacement part shown in this video on our website www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Saab/9-3/1AWRG01795?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&AMjJo8Fej04
1A Auto Parts > Have you swapped the window motor or regulator for the rear window in a Saab convertible? I can't figure out if the motors are the same for the front and back. And, do I need to replace the entire regulator unit or can I replace just the motor? Thanks
Mine came (from 1A Auto) with the window clips in the down position. Now I've got it in there, but I'm worried that trying to put in the window will fail since I can't access them to tighten. Should I turn teh car on and raise the window before putting the glass in?
Solution for this is simple. Make sure you loosen the clips before installing the regulator. Install as instructed, but without the glass, hook everything up so no electrical circuit is unplugged, but don't install door trim all the way so you can still see what's going on. Then you can just roll it up so that the clips are in the easy position near the top to install glass and tighten. Thanks for making these videos!
