Fun fact: Echidna’s speech was almost 2000 words in the web novel

What Betty means by being first is about love but not romantic love, more so she wants the emotional security of being someone's first priority in all things. This is what she means by "think of me first". In truth, despite being a 400 year old spirit, Beatrice is still fundamentally a child that is scared of being alone and thus in a very child like way she wants those fears banished with a all too fanciful promise.
This is where the story plays with Subaru's issues of being a promise breaker. As was told before promises are extremely important to spirits. So without the hope that Subaru could be the person to truly hold her as a first priority, she feels she has no hope and just wants to die. Elsa interrupted Beatrice before she could say why she'd prefer Subaru to be the one to kill her but if you think about it it's no real mystery. Beatrice wants Subaru to be the one to kill her because Subaru is kind.
    Betty is absolutely heartbreaking.

Subaru claiming he knows hell only for him to experience what he considers the worst loop yet... ouch.

Remember the ending of "Taste of death" cuz that kiss from Emilia has a lot of implications.

Interesting thing with pairing these two episodes together is it shows just how far a spirit will go to end themselves. As Beatrice said, a spirit cannot even kill themselves. When we see how Puck basically allows Reinhard to kill him, suddenly Pucks declaration to "end the world" gets a new meaning. That it's nothing more than a bluff to essentially suicide by cop, because he knows Reinhard exists. Reinhard can only be the hero, so to die Puck must be the "monster that threatens the world". This all illustrating that Puck is the actor playing the part, while Reinhard is the tool that cannot deviate from his part, his duty as "Hero" is all he can be.
Re:zero has really crazy levels of poetic despair.

It’s literally in Puck’s contract to freeze the world solid, it was mentioned in season 1, some of the cut content hints on the actual reason for doing so (which is not to die from Reinhard), it’s murky waters honestly and I’m not sure if revealing it will be a spoiler, so I’ll refrain from doing so, unless you’d want me to
