The headache wasn't a side-effect of the trial or anything, it was just a representation of his anxiety. That's why it was getting worse when he was deciding about whether or not to go to school, and why he said it usually gets better after he can't make it to school on time.
Parent and Child has to be one of the best episodes I've seen in anime in general. From this we can finally know why Subaru acted the way he did in season one, for example why he was so excited about being in a different world a the beginning, it has to do with him messing his life and always being a shut in so he literally restarted a life in another world. This is why he also fell in love with Emilia because she was the first person to ever stop and help him and actually care about him. Anyways I recommend watching videos on this episode that go into more detail.
Not even just the helping thing, Emilia didn’t see his father when she spoke to him and she also is probably the first person around his “age” to speak to him normally. Being a shut in with little social experience, it probably meant a lot to be treated so kindly. Which is the exact same way Emilia felt when she met him
@@ma.2089 yeah. Emilia and Subaru are alot alike. They both were mistreated in their own lives and had few people that cared about them. So it makes sense why they are drawn to each other and why they both took the trial.
@@iwatchanime0 Look at his room during the flashback. All of his figurines are of white haired waifus so yeah he already had an Emilia fetish before he even stepped into the world lmao.
Fun fact: Apparently the author confirmed that in the real world Subaru just kinda went missing on the night he got Isekai'd. He parents still look for him every day. It's not in any of the books or anything so it's not really a spoiler and it could change if the author decides he needs to change it for the ending of the series so take it with a grain of salt.
According to the author Subaru’s parents are still frantically searching for him in the real world as he hasn’t been found. I believe this was said in an interview, I hope he returns to them somehow, but also bittersweet if he has to leave Emilia & the rest 😭
More specifically I think he said he wouldn’t drink body fluids if he wasn’t ready for it. He then realized what that sounded like and tried to correct himself again.
Episode 4 makes me relate to Subaru so well its not even funny. His problems are relatable to so many people. He has anxiety and lost himself trying to be someone he's not, ultimately forgetting how to interact with people. The aren't big things like his entire family dying or going through torture that made him this way, but everyday circumstances that other people go through as well. The fact that he is so relatable really makes him one of my favorite protagonists.
Ya episode 4 made me cry the fuck out for the first time in years. Everything about Subaru like quitting school and him wanting his parents to hate him just hit the nail for me. It felt like the author was literally reading me.
I think it was the fourth episode of season 2 where ReZero fans who once hated Subaru in season 1, to really start to get to know Subaru as a fully flushed out character and really grew to love love him and root for him later on. Well, it was the case for me personally and made me a Subaru stan.
Episode 4 is my favourite episode in the whole show. It really explains why Subaru is the way he is, why he's always putting on this front of confidence even though he secretly hates himself, it's all a cover for his immense lack of self-confidence. Obviously the interactions with his parents are lovely too (they set a great example for how to deal with your kids if they're ever going through depression, anxiety, or other problems), they're just amazing parents and it breaks my heart that in the real world, his parents haven't gotten the same closure Subaru has. They still look for him, thinking he's just missing somewhere in Japan/Earth.
For me, no matter how often I watch it, 23:00 absolutely destroys me. This was the last thing that she ever said to Subaru, and he didn’t even look at her. They never see him again, and while it’s touching that he gets to say goodbye one last time, the overarching sadness comes from the knowledge that his parents never get that closure. God this show turns me into a bitch lol.

According to the author, the parents started a police investigation to search for Subaru, and since the investigation ended up empty-handed, they started spending their days praying for Subaru's safety.
The peas are just a metaphor on how Subaru's always finding another way to overcome adversities in his life, and tbh, the way that they just showed how Subaru's life flipped is so actually true, I was in the exactly spot when I had my depression crises and just lost 1 and a half year being just like subaru, a shut-in
According to the author, time is still flowing normally in the real world. Subaru’s Mom and dad are frantically searching for him. The police found no leads on his disappearance. His mom is getting depressed while his dad tries to comfort her, but it isn’t effective.

This episode is amazing and is what completely confirmed my love for the show, one of, if not my favorite episode in the series so far (and even with more seasons possibly on the way, it will be hard for other episodes to top this). And I'm gonna have to be honest, him remembering that "Take care" from his mom before he got transported in the other world broke me in a way I can't explain and made me sob really hard, just re-watching it in this video made me tear up again; Most likely it's because, while he gets to give his parents a goodbye, they never will, and just thinking about that is tragic and don't wish it upon any child or parent. It would be amazing if he gets to see his parents again, but from what I heard that will most likely never happen, so the pain from that "Take care" intensifies even more knowing that.
Thanks for putting me on this anime, I've been kinda hesitant because its an isekai but this show is serious lol. This seven deadly sin vibe is weird to me though like. While they are general use words for "I'm going" and "Take care", the more direct translation is "I'll be back" and "Have a safe trip". A dead-eyed Subaru not responding "I'll be back" and then he disappears from that world forever. I'm sure normal people might think he committed suicide. But the author says his parents still continue to search for Subaru, they don't believe he commit suicide. It's really heartbreaking.

Subaru's parents are some of the best most wholesome parents in all of anime. I'm really curious where the anime will go because I'll feel really bad if Subaru never sees them again.
Did you all notices all of the elf’s posters and figurines Subaru had in his room. Would explain his attraction to Emilia more than any other character.
I want to explain 2 things here, one of which i think already has been explained, but imma do it anyways. 1: The sudden pain in Subaru's head isn't a headache, but it is a representation of his anxiety and anxiety attacks. The reason why these sudden anxiety attacks happen is because his school starts at 8am, and when he the time is anything before 8am he feels pressured to have to go to school, and that very thought causes him to get these attacks, that's at least what i think based on personal experience. My anxiety attacks tend to last even after school has started tho and i begin to feel guilt and that might also be why Subaru's anxiety attacks still came fourth. 2: This one is a bit harder to explain, but i believe that the reason why Subaru hoped that his parents would say things like "You are not my son" and all else, firstly comes from the expectations that were placed on him for being Natsuki kenichi's son. The expectations that were placed on him caused Subaru to do the dumbest stuff to make others believe he lived up to the expectations being placed on him, sadly those expectations are preventing Subaru for forming his own identity, because all he thinks about doing is pleasing others and living up to their expectations instead of his own. In the end when his rain of chaos had gone on for a while, they found his dumb actions to be nothing more than dumb actions. Subaru wasn't a fun person anymore which resulted in everyone leaving him and to Subaru that meant losing his worth as a human being. When he realized that he was not anyone special, he slowly over time started belittling himself and thing of himself as worthless. He started hating himself and when Subaru believes himself to be not worthy of existing, how can he believe others wanting him to exist. Subaru wanted to validate to himself his worthlessness through his parents. However, his parents always showed him love and care accepting the fact that their son was going through a hard time in his life. To Subaru such love is more scary and painful, cause as i said, when you do hate yourself, it is hard to believe such words. Thanks for reading if you bothered
Thats a bittersweet end for his past, he left his family without a word, its actually a good message to think about « don’t ever take anything for granted, because this day could be your last »
I got a bit teary eyed when I read it in the light novel and the same thing happened when I saw it in ep. 4. Subaru’s story on a personal level was relatable on some level, as it might have been with other people.Hits the feels just the same 😪
Sheera was asking about what happened to his "real body", but he's literally been transported to another world there is no "real world" to return to. Subaru is gone, and this is just where he lives now.
Yoo ep 4 made me tear up bro that was such a great moment for Subaru I cried with this dude bro and then I found out what’s really going on with the parents...I cried even more lmaoo their missing him soo much 🤧😭😭
Real life lessons hidden in some of these animes I swear, lol. There are people who say that back in the day they were raised by comic book characters like superman and batman when their parent's were largely absent from their lives, and similarly, anime's and mangas like this can play a role in raising and teaching the youth of today. Naruto can teach values such as never giving up. This episode teaches to not be selfish and don't take the people around you for granted, especially family. Not all stories are the same, but some of these stories are truly something special to experiance.
In the real world Subaru is missing, and his parents are still wondering where he is. It’s also believed his mom was pregnant. The creator said this but he never added it to the story so it’s not a spoiler
The author said that time passes in the real world along the same time as the re:zero world. Author said that his mother and father are still searching for him. After some time his mother is getting sick and falling in a deep depression while his father still searches for him and tries to keep his wife happy.
this is ep is so sad cuz as far as subaru knows he will never be able to go back and see his parents again, and he cant look after them when they get old, i do hope he gets to go back at the end of the show
@@troljynx9953 yup, only a nendroid and a figurine with Rem and Patrasche (which is great). Meanwhile Rem out here with a new figurine practically every 1 week or less. Ironic for a show that critiques waifu culture.
The thing with the trial was It never happend in the real world but he was the only one to get closure but his parents never did. Also in the beginning subaru didn't really realize he was in the real world and just woke up like a normal person and the thing were gets hurt when school is mention was his anxiety. Subaru's parents are Depressed and are still looking for him in the real world because subaru just suddenly disappeared out of nowhere for one night. Also Subaru's dad would have helped him through his hikikomori state in the real world.
its not a spoiler because author of re:zero say it in a interview (probably because its not going to appear in the light novel or the anime): subaru parents are broken and searching for him, since the day he disappeared (in the first episode), the police has no leads, kenichi is trying to confort his wife, but is not effective, they spend their days tearfully.
Jealous Witch is as mis-translation. The correct translation is The Witch of Envy. So far we have been introduced to archbishop of Gluttony, Greed and sloth. So this makes me think of the 7 deadly sins. There is a witch for each sin.
This episode got me...parents and child relationsips in shows or movies dont really get me...idk how ReZero does it but it can pull out emotions from me with how its executed...when his mother says "take care" and he goes back in his mind and it shows him that before he disappears, his still loving mother told him that and he didnt say anything back.....that scene hit a little bit too close to my feelings man and i tear up a little bit :( ...the creator of this show really knows what he is doing and it hurts :/ :D
The sad truth about episode 4 is that its purely one-sided. Unlike Subaru's closure with his parents, in the real world his parents never had that same closure. They are doomed with the fact that their son just mysteriously dissapeared after leaving their home one last time. Hopefully they find their closure one day, but until then, we are stuck with the fact that only one person got a happy ending.
The headache wasn't a side-effect of the trial or anything, it was just a representation of his anxiety. That's why it was getting worse when he was deciding about whether or not to go to school, and why he said it usually gets better after he can't make it to school on time.

Subaru's parents are some of the best most wholesome parents in all of anime. I'm really curious where the anime will go because I'll feel really bad if Subaru never sees them again.
This episode broke me down. Seriously one of the best lol.
The loop begins
While i watched episode 4 i was crying like a baby. The bond parent-child put in such a waay was too good.
Crunchyroll mistranslated. It was the Sloth Witch Factor.
21:49 are we gonna go right past how sad Lupa's comment was.
Damn his goodbye to his mom made me cry yet again.
19:32 That great days opening tho 💀
Seeing this again made me wish real world parents could be like Subaru's parents. "We had you because wanted to do something for you." So underrated.
Subaru's mom is pregnant so I've heard, that's why she eats weird stuff.
Definitely seems like those kind of hints were dropped
@@rasengan124 Yh heard it was clearer in the Ln plus Subaru's dad called him the eldest son in the anime.
Makes it more sad because Subaru ain't coming back to the real world :(
I JUST REALIZED HOW WHEN SUBARU SUPER SLAPPED REM (headbutt her in S1), IT'S LIKE HOW HIS DAD DID A FATHER HEADBUTT
Did you all notices all of the elf’s posters and figurines Subaru had in his room. Would explain his attraction to Emilia more than any other character.
Subaru's dad is so awesome. Moonwalked like it was the 80's
Roshi: Bro, how would you react if everybody forgot me except you?
Lupasan: Damn, I'd have to, just take me out.
DAMN, THE BROTHERHOOD IS STRONG.
Never been this quick before
Still cant belive this man Garfiel 14 years old...
Thats a bittersweet end for his past, he left his family without a word, its actually a good message to think about « don’t ever take anything for granted, because this day could be your last »
I don't remember this episode being this good. I guess it also helps growing older/wiser to appreciate too
This episode is so good! Lupa was right: "Things I wish my parents told me instead I'm hearing it in anime" fr
I think she was referring to Subaru’s body when he entered the trial room with Emilia and he passed out
I have NO idea how you guys managed to keep level-headed after episode 4's ending. I was absolutely rolling in pain :^)
God that parent meeting makes me cry every time
Yoo ep 4 made me tear up bro that was such a great moment for Subaru I cried with this dude bro and then I found out what’s really going on with the parents...I cried even more lmaoo their missing him soo much 🤧😭😭
Real life lessons hidden in some of these animes I swear, lol.
The parent son part is so beautiful it made me cry
In the real world Subaru is missing, and his parents are still wondering where he is. It’s also believed his mom was pregnant. The creator said this but he never added it to the story so it’s not a spoiler
bro idk why but i cried at that episode, something about it resonated with me.
I was hoping the editor edited in MJ music when Subaru's dad moonwalks, and I was not disappointed lmaoo
The author said that time passes in the real world along the same time as the re:zero world.
Author said that his mother and father are still searching for him. After some time his mother is getting sick and falling in a deep depression while his father still searches for him and tries to keep his wife happy.
Sheera always saying some wild shit
Ep 28 has to be one of my favourite episodes of Re:Zero... Its so fucking beautiful, ngl... Tears were shed from my part
this is ep is so sad cuz as far as subaru knows he will never be able to go back and see his parents again, and he cant look after them when they get old, i do hope he gets to go back at the end of the show
"if there is a figurine of Subaru with that pose" *cries in 0 stand alone Subaru figurines*
Really ?! FUUUUUUU
@@troljynx9953 yup, only a nendroid and a figurine with Rem and Patrasche (which is great).
Meanwhile Rem out here with a new figurine practically every 1 week or less. Ironic for a show that critiques waifu culture.
remmber at back the day when eps 4 released.
i was crying for a while, make my thought what i am doing for 5 years at my room.
Back with that Re: Zero greatness
He is still missing in the real world, the author said, even now his parent is still looking all over town for him
I really hope he gets back to the real world maybe he is able to break out of the curse placed upon him by the witch of envy
Episode 4: it's so relatable that literally hurts.
5:24 yoo editor that was clean!!
Time flows the same in both worlds. His parents suffer from severe depression thinking he committed suicide.
Looking at the mother in this episode. I expected to be like that, which is realisticly yet sad
Jealous Witch is as mis-translation. The correct translation is The Witch of Envy. So far we have been introduced to archbishop of Gluttony, Greed and sloth. So this makes me think of the 7 deadly sins. There is a witch for each sin.
ngl, the ost kinda bangs, so much hype when you hear the music start playing.
I laughed my ass out when the MJ played 😂😂
Just be ready because all of the episodes after this is wild af
Lol sheera got the big brain award today.
Echidna giving Rem a run for best girl
You should watch the ending along with enclosure they give so much details
This shit makes me want to call my parents.
