It’s true that they really don’t give up on you which is why when we first arrive the will instructor says some of you may have given up on yourself but they wouldn’t give up on you and that is what my senior drill instructor told me when I wanted to quit because I kept messing up and thought that I shouldn’t be there. This life isn’t easy and most of the time it is going to suck but that is the reason why Marines are so respected. For doing the work that most people would never do.
I’ve never been a Marines and I have tears in my eyes after listening to him. The Marines are the best and it’s people like this DI that make them so. Thank you all for your service!!
I'm reminded of E.B. Sledge writing about how coming home from the Pacific an Army veteran came up to him and seeing his USMC uniform shook his hand. He explained that he always shook the hand of whatever Marine he'd run into because he'd been wounded and left for dead on some God-forsaken Pacific island. A group of Marines without question went in and rescued him.
For a week i got up before 6am get clothes and fresh air for half an hour outside and do 2 sets push ups. I can't do many only 18 - 20 but it made a difference towards work the rest of the day everyday.
I'm a Navy Vet who just lost a bet to a quadriplegic I know who likes watching your channel. I was the Co Bug at Great Mistakes. Who was the biggest screw up you met either as a Recruit, or as a DI? What was his punishment? Mine was being personally QD'd byt the CO of RTC in 1991.
