Why is it about the "safety of women"? These women guards have a duty of care and are inappropriately crossing boundaries of intimacy. Those women are too blame. It's an abuse of power.
interesting that when female officers have relationships with male prisoners then the women are the victims. but when the male officers have relationships with the female prisoners then the women are also the victims.
I saw the video and she was definitely a willing participant.
Why is this conversation coming from the angle of women’s safety? Surely she should be held accountable for her actions?
By making it about safety takes the focus away about the officer being accountable for her actions.
The easiest way to ensure this doesn’t happen is ensure that no prison officer is to be alone on the floor, they must patrol and operate in pairs.

@tommy. Sounds great but realisation it's not possible. In UK prisons we have approx 3 officers for approx 100 inmates so making it impossible to go around in pairs

Wasn't the debate about inappropriate relationships? Why are they talking about being at risk and being assaulted and harassed?
And the women have to do what men do, so whether it is a walk in the park or a dangerous situation both genders are exposed to it. That police officer totally derailed the topic.

We need more officers like that Portuguese Prison officer. If I was running for Prime Minister I’d put on my manifesto that prison would have 100 percent fit female officers to bring down violence. I dont think the inmates would complain about the abuse of power lol
