What's Beckham ACTUALLY done to warrant a knighthood . Why is he been treated so specifically. All he is is an ex football player, he plays in America, he doesn't play in Britain, let America give him a knighthood if THEY think he warrants one.
No. The title is given too freely.
Of course he doesn't. He's been a narcissistic, me-me-me individual all his life and his reward for that is becoming a billionaire. His primary aim in life was getting filthy rich and he was absolutely brilliant at doing that. He chose the USA over the UK as part of that path and is a tax exile as a result. I don't hate him, but I have no hesitation in saying that his primary, secondary and tertiary loyalty was to David Beckham, not to the UK.

Yes he does deserve a knighthood, he has done lots of charity work for young people. If a racing driver can get a knighthood for just driving a car, then David truly deserves one.

He was very good footballer, not world class. He didnt lead England to victory. His charity work always felt like a publicity stunt and none more so than his move to PSG. Yes he has done great things and deserves the accolades of MBE/OBE/CBE, but knighthood criteria he falls short imo.

As a gay man, I wasn’t too disheartened that Beckham was over in Qatar. I’d have taken their money if it was offered to me. End of the day, the argument that ‘he aligned with a non-LGBT country so he doesn’t deserve a knighthood’ can be used for anything. The chap arguing the point on this video, for example, probably wearing clothes made in a warehouse by some kid. Is his right to a knighthood stripped because he supports that? No.
