I had the same feeling. I understand needing to move the story along on a timeline to fit the show, but you've got to _prompt_ the other person for details, especially about what they're feeling in the moment. You can't just tell them, "You were scared."

Maybe she agreed to being on the show but couldn’t bring herself to share the story in her own words. Maybe she hasn’t healed enough yet. I wish she would be given the chance to use her own words and speak at her own pace. This was her LIFE - not an episode of EastEnders! And at one point, Sue asked her a question with a smirk on her face as if she was about to laugh! 🤦🏿‍♀️ Poor journalism. Instead of feeding her life story to her in sound bites, they should ask 1 question at a time and give her a chance to respond. Then process that response with the audience showing empathy. Instead, it made HER look like a reluctant interviewee. She's obviously nervous to be on TV so it's the shows responsibility to put her at ease. As an ex journalist that's my takeaway 🤷🏿‍♀️

The marriage breakdown violence divorce etc was bad enough I just didn’t want to add to it by doing that in anger.
Changed my surname five years later couldn’t wait to change it actually when I married my husband (34yrs married now) by then my child was ok with everything.

I hope that guy is never let out of jail, because her life would be in danger if he's out.
The fact that the victim went against the authorities and lied for this man on the stand (she told the jury that SHE had sabotaged the parachutes and played with the gas pipe and not him) in the first trial, says how much control he had over her, and likely still does to some extent. The fact that they were able to convict him in the second trial WITHOUT her help, proved how much clear and obvious a mountain of evidence they had against him.
Thank God the investigators did not give up. It's so hard to convict these abusers when the victims themselves refuse to accept the truth and help them in any way, and even go against them and actually help their abusers.
