This is a modern example of the Invasion Literature genre prevalent in the United Kingdom from 1871 through the First World War (1914-1918).
Written and directed by Kenneth Johnson, V: The Original Miniseries was a science-fiction television miniseries delivered by NBC in two parts in May of 1983. It was followed in May of 1984 with V: The Final Battle. A weekly television series, V: The Series then ran from 26 October 1984 - 22 March 1985.

I used to love the old school American tv shows. This is like the TV series of 'They Live!'
I used to make motherships out of two paper plates sprayed with gray paint.
Greg, I did the same, maybe with silver paint. Also had fun with a certain type of aluminum garbage can lid. I only used them as models however, never tried to fake an encounter.

I remember those days...
I was 5-6 years old when this was telecast here in Sri Lanka in mid 1980s ('85-'86 or so If I'm not mistaken ...). I still do remember some of these things in "V" even after almost 40 years though I can't recall the whole plot, now at the age of 43 ! (After all, I was only a kid when I watched it, didn't get any chance to see it since then.) .... Time flies & things change, but at least some of the memories do stay forever ....

There are numerous subtle and overt references in Seinfeld to aliens and spaceships and as V was an NBC asset, you could expect links to have been made there. One is that actor Richard Herd who portrayed V Supreme Commander John in the 1983 NBC miniseries V and its 1984 sequel, V: The Final Battle... would a decade later portray Mr Wilhelm in a subtle tribute to the series. I was 10 years old when this came out. I remember watching it live on NBC. It blew my mind. After watching it on the first night, I immediately went outside and looked up to see (and hoping) if the "visitors" were there lol. It's still one of my favorite mini-series ever!

The tv channel in england, ITV, went on strike when the L . A USA olympics was suppose to be on,,, so its showed " V " instead,,, WOW,,, for a 14 yr old,,, seeing this tv show was so much better. Incredible show. 🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎

True. I do work alongside a certain three letter agency. Who in turn have covertly confirmed this. Openly confirmation will happen only when it's safe for key players to come forward.
