    Why are 80s shows so much better than what they make today

      Because now they are more interested in putting in on the nose one sided political messages and hiring actors based on race or sex and not talent. Both of which will make modern shows and movies age like milk.

      The things we watched were made from folks who had to serve times honing their skills over many years. Kenneth Johnson must have been at least 40 when he made this.
      The appetite for new content isn't at all as closely firewalled as it used to be, the series genre has become a single consumable, who cares if the director wanted to be proud. How many people watched it once.
      Today's stories in TV are forgettable, mostly because it's how they were intended. Did they make money? Let this person make another. Versus, years of commitment and hard work to make something worth telling that still means something 40 years later.

    I am a great admirer of V, V the final battle, and V the series in the 1980s as a high school student. When the Visitors came everything turned upside down, resistance fighters, curfew, martial law, conspiracies? Some people joined the Visitors, some were used as food products for the Visitors. I have never seen anything like it, I have seen it at least 70 times or more. Dinosaurs once roamed the earth millions of years ago and again the dinosaurs are roaming the world.

    I watched this as a kid and I remember how scared I was when Diana “swallowed” the hamster. Now re watching this as an adult, I can’t stop laughing at how cheesy it was

    Its a joy hearing Kenneth Johnson talk about this in 2023 40 year's later. Interesting note the entire crew from "The Incredible Hulk" tv series worked this miniseries

    I was 8 when this aired and just thought it was the greatest thing ever. I had one of those snake rubik's cube's and made it into the shape of one of the visitor's laser pistols. I duck taped the whole thing so it would hold that shape. Ran around my neighborhood having shoot outs with that things.

    This series was boss I wish they would've kept going with it. Even the updated version was good as well I don't know why they canceled.

      Plus, Kenneth Johnson disagreed with some of the choices that the NBC execs made.

      I vaguely recall learning about Johnson disagreeing with NBC's choices and such. Also, according to DC Comics, V was one of the most expensive television shows ever produced; hence the dropping of the voice vibration. Jane Badler mentioned in Starlog Magazine (sometime to her appearing in "Mission: Impossible") that "V started to become a soap opera in outer space". It also ended up on the same time slot as the CBS-TV show "Dallas". And if I recall correctly, killing off Frank Ashmore's character of Martin in the premiere episode was another factor in the show's early cancellation; and that bringing Ashmore back to portray Martin's twin brother Philip didn't help. Still, I enjoyed it; but it would have been nice if they finished the reruns!

    That's what resistants would do during the war (2nd W.W.) : trace V 's on walls; but if the nazis caught you doing that; most of the time, you were purely and simply shot dead ! (and that's how it really was); cause - as the old jew Abraham explained it to the kids - it used to stand for "Victory" (victory : against the nazis) ... he was supposed to have experienced all of that !

    V' the original mini series from 1983 was great,and it's sequel 'V The Final Battle' From 1984 was almost as good though not quite.....But when it became a weekly series in 85' it got really stupid.The visitors inexplicably lost the alien resonance in their voice,and more significantly it became a parody.It was like an alien soap opera/Dynasty with Diana just being sexy and bitchy with Lydia and the Prince from the royal house etc.There was an even a stereotypical effeminate flamboyant 'gay' visitor.

    • @sha11235
      @sha11235 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, because in the mini-series, you had several battles as well as some good storylines. With the series, every damn episode was a battle.

      In my mind the the real 'V" ended when Robin's half breed daughter started to glow in the last episode of 'V The Final Battle".....(What the hell was that ??? ) Apart from everyone on board the ship being saved I like to pretend that everything after that point never actually happened.No 'V' weekly series.Martin actually lived,and no 2000's 'V' reboot.It was just announced earlier this month that Kenneth Johnson will finally be making a big screen version of 'V' that is being conceived as a trilogy.
