I own a 110 td5 defender😄best thing I ever bought. They're cold in the winter, hot in the summer and leak like a sieve when it rains, noisy, slow, but I will never sell it....

Great video. Love the defenders. Now that we have a 90, we want a 110. It's a sickness.

Very nice to see rigs like that up close Michael.
Yes, it is too bad it is so hard to get rigs like that here in the US.

thanks! FYI, the fuel economy conversion for the Defender is: at 700 km per 68 L works out to ~24 mpg

in Britain you can by a land rover from £100~$133 all the way up to £1m~ 1400000 and there everywhere... there so cheap due to age and so expensive due to mods etc... in the UK we have landrover expos

Yeah but £100 aint gonna get you much - maybe a rusted out Series. The most f*cked Defender type will start at about £1500, and that's probably with a dead TurboD (the 19J engine was not Land-Rover's finest hour).

The safety was one of the main reasons that the Defender was discontinued. It would have cost JLR too much to change it all around to meet the latest safety regulations. Also, they didn't make as much money on them un-like their Jaguars and Range Rovers. And then of course there is the emissions, it's 2.2 litre 4-cylinder puts out 295g of CO2 per kilometre which is bad when you compare it to the 4.5l 8-cylinder Land Cruiser which puts out 250g. :D
It's a shame really as the UK doesn't have a utilitarian 4x4 anymore unless you want to buy a pickup truck, it would be cool if Toyota tried to fill this market with the 70 series. :D
These things in the UK are as common as the Ford F150/ Chevrolet Siverlado is in the states you can pick older ones up very cheap. Farmers absolutely love them due to their simplicity! But I somehow think the "new defender" coming out will not be and the people that loved the Defender won't like the new one...
P.S - What sort of work are you in that takes you down to Australia?

Awesome perspective! Thank you for sharing this. The cost range for Defenders certainly is huge!

You don’t need to go that far to see a Defender like that. They were sold in Mexico from 2010 to 2015 (left hand drive) with the same Diesel engine.

Why did he not offer you a drive, you were so excited about it. But good video.

when you said easy to find parts you just follow one did you mean that they just fall of or what was that about

Probably a mistake telling the guy how much the rigs are in the US before asking him how much he would let you take it for! :)

Do you run into a lot of issues with people not wanting you to video tape? I noticed you had it running through the airport too. Nice rigs though. I’d love to go to Australia just once.

G'day boys and girls, Land Rovers are not common at all outside of the city. I live in the bush and off road every day nearly. You very seldom see Land Rovers they are good kit but very expensive compared to Land Cruisers, Nissan Patrols and Pajero's. 90% of the Utes and Wagons you will see out in the bush are Toyota Hilux, Nissan Patrols and Mitsubishi Pajero. I have seen 1 ford Ranger this winter on the tracks and mountains. I live in Northen Victoria one of the most visited 4x4 regions in our country. Just a heads up, this is the city. Cheers Moose Down Under.

In Australia V8TD & 4.2TD Land Cruisers & 4.2TD Nissan Patrols pretty much reign supreme

I swear that pootrol isn't fitted with a factory snorkel, looks a lot like the one safari sells and the head is different from the factory patrol too.

Why wouldn't they let you in the states with that Def??
