    Isn't the main ingredient of 'Algo Clear' Benzalkonium Chloride? (BAC 50)? If so, it is also used as a biocide in toothpaste, eye drops and throat lozenges! In the strength used for cleaning, you should avoid getting it on your skin and - more especially - in your eyes. But should be relatively harmless otherwise, I would have thought... BAC 50 can be much cheaper to buy than most of the cleaners that use it as an ingredient!

    Hi
    I’ve always used copper sulphate solution. It seems to impregnate into the tiles and as well as killing the moss, which just rolls off in the wind and rain, it seems to keep it clear for 12-24 months.
    Is there any reason why I shouldn’t be doing this, it probably costs me less than £2 to treat a very large roof?

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  Рік тому

    Hi Ash looking at cleaning roofs with biocide next year. So cleaning first with a mini rotary cleaner in a fibre pole and then going over with biocide with pole set up like this.
    I’m not a window cleaner, but a bin washer and have been doing drives for about 9 months now.
    Couple of questions is related to what pole / set up for the small rotary cleaner then the set up with pole for biocide and how do you power the biocide? Would you use like a big boy 2 backpack to put the product on the roof?
    Just seems a bit confusing as not used these poles before, I take it the rotary cleaner will be attached to the evolution pressure washer with a m22. Fitting? Would be happy to pay a consultation fee as my head is pickled with it.
    For a walk through and link to products to buy to get this off the ground.
    Not sure if you do such a thing?
    Thanks

      Thanks for replying. Sometimes a customer just wants one side of their property treating, so I only use a small amount. I was wondering if I mixed up a 25l batch for convenience, how long could I keep it in the van for small jobs before it looses its effectiveness. 👍

      I’m not sure exactly. If you check the AlgoClear website there should be all the information and data sheets you need.😃👍🏼

      No problem. I hope the job goes well. I actually tried this on some render for one of my neighbours recently. I have applied AlgoClear and I’m planning to wash it off/re-apply next time round before I do the windows.😃👍🏼

    Use the correct mask mate spend the money on a professional mask not a disposable mask.
    Also you need to check the down pipe ant running in to a flower bed ect as it will kill and plants or trees and dont let it run in to a drain

      It’s difficult getting any type of mask at the moment. I had these ones already. They are FFP2 standard for non toxic dusts and mists. I will get a better one when I can.😃👍🏼
