for the squares I made, I used about 350 yards of light worsted weight #4 ( Aran) per square,
and a 4mm hook
If you use a thicker #4 worsted ( Aran) weight, like a Red Heart Super Saver, I would suggest using a 4.5mm hook instead of the 4mm

These two squares would make a lovely pillowcase for a couch cushions
This is your best re-imagined vintage art yet! Fabulous use of subtle luxury! Rest your hands now, sweetie. Art IS hard work
My grandmother had a cotton bedspread with these blocks 🧡
Really like the pop of color joining…
I like the sound of tuff but my brain learned it as popcorn 🍿🤣
I’m currently trying these squares in grey and cream. I live in a 200+ year old cottage so it feels lovely crocheting these. Love your channel. Thank you for sharing. x
I don’t care for blanket patterns that consist of individual squares-I know myself well enough that I will never make enough squares to sew together for a blanket. Yes, I know, but it is what it is, what can I say. But with a little bit of ingenuity this pattern could be adjusted so it could be made as one piece which I just might have to try. I love the pattern!
Sounds like me I hate sewing squares together so it would be great as a single square blanket.. I'm thinking maybe just a wider sides
I think it would be a matter of crocheting each row pattern a certain number of times before turning your work, adding 3stitches/3rows between imaginary squares??
I was thinking that reading your post..even tho i do make squares i just use a decorative stitich to join using both loops
Me too! Hate putting together. Made 6 popcorn stitch squares years ago. Crocheted two together ( 3 times) made armrest and headrest covers instead.
Thank you for putting the instructions on screen so I can pause and see the work notes live the old squares able to make a blanket.
I like tufts. That sounds so much cuter than popcorn
I like ruft too!
Always heard it called a popcorn or a bobble. And I think of a tuft as something that's tucked in as opposed to popped out. But you call it whatever feels right to you cause as we all know there're no crochet police lol. And that was so sweet of you to hand write out the reverse half instructions for us. Thank you. You were right, it does look so cozy and comfy done up in a #4.
G’day beautiful internet friend, I just placed my order for this pattern and got the crochet dress one too 😁 I’m so excited. Hope you’re all having a great week. ❤
I love the addition of the stitch instructions to the bottom of the screen. I hope you continue this. I really like the changes you made during this video. Marking where the tufts/popcorns are with the stitch markers is an excellent idea. I think it is really helpful for those people who are visual learners.
Too..sometimes i watch n wriit it down n do it later
Thank you for showing the pattern directions on the top of the screen rather than stressing yourself by holding up the paper; smart move. 😉👍
I like "everything" you share - home decor, as well as wearables.
Idk that I've heard "tuft", but as long as I know it's a popcorn, we can call it whatever! Beautiful squares, beautiful pink! Great job!! ❤
I think the difference is that with popcorn stitch you don't take the bundle off the hook, you do it all on the hook. This one seems to take a few more steps, and makes a rounder cluster than the popcorn. Then again, that's just my personal experience.
So many beautiful squares, so little time lol. I like "popcorn" because it's food 😋
I like popcorn better. I think it's because I like popcorn.😂 I like tuft, too. This would be a pretty bed covering. It would also look cool on the back of a chair or couch. It would completely change it!
Thanks Corinna!
It's also called a "peanut" in Turkey. 😊
@@donnasqueaky2 hmm, that's a good name for them, too.
I didn’t learn to read patterns when I learned to crochet. My grandmother gave me her all her patterns since I was the grandchild that crocheted and sewed. This is similar to the first pattern I sat down and figured out ❤ I call it popcorn 🍿 My daughter calls it something else but I don’t think it’s tuft
❤ Love to watch you work. I'm amazed how you figure out some of these patterns. This pattern is beautiful, I think I'll give it a go. I like that blocks are big. Less to join. Keep up the beautiful work. 😊😊😊
Thank you for the pattern. I love quilt blocks and granny squares as it allows me to crochet outside the home. I have a very stressful job and I take 10 min crochet breaks throughout my work day.
What a fab idea!
That would make a lovely pillow!! I like the term popcorn.
I like Tuft, that square is lovely going to have to make it, love from England ❤
Very nice, I love the wavey border of tufts/popcorn/bobble/puff so fun and cute.
More blanket pattern coming you say. Bring it on 😁.
Thankyou for sharing ❤
Really liking you putting the row instructions up. ( I know it's a lot of work). Well done , it's a great idea ❤️❤️
Thst's gorgeous! I think the squares would make lovely cushion covers too.
What ever you call it is ok by me. Beautiful pattern. Great job on this vintage pattern .
Lovely pattern, and the yarn looks so soft and cuddly! Popcorn, or bobble for me! 🙂 Never heard of tuft before. Have to thank you so much for your written pages, its so helpful.
I like the term "tuft" better than "popcorn"
Beautiful!❤ And tuft.. 😂 i like the sound better than popcorn!
Looks fun and different from other patterns I tend to see online. It has the vintage feel to it sort of like Filet crochet🧚♂️Lovely work🧚
Omg there was the coolest Apple 15 ad that played during your vid! It featured Boba Fett. 😁
Oh that is gorgeous. I’m not an experienced crocheter , but I like tufts lol
Beautiful. I think the tufts and popcorns are basically the same and love them both equally.
I like tuft because it makes me think about little Miss Muffet on her tuffet! I don't mind popcorn in a modern pattern, but it doesn't feel very Victorian.
❤❤❤🇦🇺thanks Corrina, love the pastel join, given some inspiration for a new project❤
Absolutely gorgeous! Popcorn stitch or tuft...both are beautiful. I was taught popcorn stitch but it doesn't matter to me ❤
i always thought it was a popcorn, but tuft is cute 😊
That looks so pretty and cosy. I might just have to give it a go. Thank you.
I like how you are putting the row pattern on the screen.
Popcorn is my vote
Thank you for the written rows at the top of the video. I like the tufts.
This would make a great cushion cover xxx
Beautiful... I learn so much from your video's...btw I vote "tufts "!! Keep up the good work!!
I like tuft and popcorn equally... but how about bobble? It's just fun to say! Beautiful pattern and great tutorial, thanks
Tufty! He was a squirrel who taught road safety and I’ve always loved that name - close enough! I’m going to need to find out what a bobble stitch is though - thought it was one of those 🧶❤️🐾
This is beautiful ❤ like tuff sounds so vintage just as the pattern.👍
Will look nice as a pillow, just one square.
I love this , but got to row 5 and had only 40 stitches not 57 , took it apart redid last 2 rows and ended with 40 again , gave up , maybe I will try again later , like Tuffs instead of Popcorn , Thank You for another great video 📷 !! ❤ It !!
love the squares. and great tips on edging
Winter is coming in the southern hemisphere so I’m loving the blanket inspo
Tuft for sure. Thanks for this!!
Tufts❤
Thank you ever so much for another great tutorial and beautiful vintage pattern.
You are a UA-cam Angel❤❤❤
I'm using Bernat Baby Sport in the colour Fresh Sky with a 4mm hook planning on four squares for a baby blanket.
Personally, I like the term "popcorn", but I agree with what others have said--call it whatever you want. ;). Thanks for yet another wonderful tutorial! You are awesome! ❤❤❤
Might make a fun accent pillow, too! I like tuft.
Another winner!
Beautiful I love the square pattern! I like the term tuff! It reminds me of the Victorian era. Thank you for sharing!
In some parts u sounded like Jenifer coolaige I loved it 😂
I'm definitely going to do this
Beautiful & so easy. Easy to match to any decor 👏👏❤️❤️🇬🇧
Lovely
I’m with tuft
I'm going to get the cotton and do a bedspread.
That will be a beautiful afghan.
Is it just me or are the on screen instructions not right? In the 4th row I have one extra 3sc T, and in the 6th row I have a whole extra repeat? Which comes out to an extra 14 stitches. I've only gotten as far as row 6 right now, but this pattern is lovely and I'll power through it....*Edited to add* just got done with my first Square and have started a 2nd. It is an absolute beauty, and that trick with the beginning and end sc is spot on, it makes a razor straight edge. Great video once again. Much love from WI.❤
Hello.
I am about to start row 40 and have had no issues except for the onscreen directions for row 24 there is a error it states 5sc at one end and 7sc at the other end it is actually 5sc at each end.
You might use stitch markers like she recommends before starting the even rows to make certain everything falls into the right place.
Hope you figure it out it's a fun pattern.
@walterwhite5100 I used all kinds of stitch markers. Maybe it was just my onscreen directions but in the one row I counted them 3 times and it came out to 71 stitches. There was an extra repeat in the written on screen directions. However I got it figured out and have almost 1 done. And it IS a very lovely pattern.
There seems to be several errors on the on-screen instructions. I'll try to work it out.
I Like tuft, sounds proper, whereas popcorn sounds gimmicky.
Very pretty!
beautiful!
I'm a tuft sort of person 😂
I don't mind longer videos because I'm a sight learner, written patterns confuse me and then I get aggravated and put it down.
Really nice! I wondered where you went.
Hi. I love this pattern. Definitely going on my pattern to make list.
In this case, I like Tufts better, because you could spell it out (if you use the plural) instead of counting 5 when you do them. LOL
I always thought a tuft was small, a popcorn was a bit bigger, and a bobble was the biggest as well as them being a bit wobbly.
😂 Holy Crochetamony
I can see from the finished square that there are 8 popcorns on Row 4. However, your pattern on the screen gives 9. This is the problem others may have encountered I think. I need to take this all back (for the second time) and start with the 58 ch again.
The onscreen pattern instructions for row #4 and row #24 do have errors.
The verbal instructions are correct.
Row #4 is 5sc, T, 3sc, T, 9sc, T, 3sc, T, 9sc, T, 3sc, T, 9sc, T. 3sc. T, 5sc.
Row#24 is 5sc, T, 18sc, T, 7sc, T, 18sc, T, 5sc.
I took screenshots of all onscreen directions up to row 32 and I used the edit tool to fix the two errors in rows 4 and 24.
I just work the square up to row 32 using the screenshots then reverse them back for the second half of the square.
Row 34 is the same as row 30
Row 36 is the same as row 28
Row 38 is the same as row 26
And so on....
I don't mind it being tuft or popcorn. Just that hearing popcorn repeatedly makes me crave popcorn and I need to go downstairs and make me some 😅. Also, for some reason I'm not a fan of that lump, it makes me feel kinda uncomfortable, is there something you can substitute in place of the tufts? Maybe change color or there is another stitch to replace it?
💗
I vote popcorn.
Popcorn
Just wondering,, could you just repeat pattern to size you will like..
good morning. Do you please can help my? I am looking for your blanket pattern. From the 1890 or 1900 .
I was looking for the link to purchase the pattern. I think the link is missing!
Im really sorry about that, here it is newagaincrochet.etsy.com/listing/1711309646/vintage-crochet-1890s-tufted-square-for
Popcorn please
I call them bobbles.
Tuffs works better for me. I seem to never remember which is popcorn and which is puff. Naming them without two p words should help me. By the way, the link to the pattern does not work.
Oh, im sorry about that, here is the link, and thanks! newagaincrochet.etsy.com/listing/1711309646/vintage-crochet-1890s-tufted-square-for
