Honestly this has been the most in depth comparison video for thermal printers.
Other reviews only focused on one and sounded a bit biased and not honest.
But this was a great video and honest information!
Thanks
Thanks for doing an actual side by side comparison with all them and the paper, so much easier for us to see the difference but more time consuming for you, awesome review 👏 👏 👏
Thank you, happy to help!
Just got the Ats, thank you for the help your video was super informative💪🏽🙏🏽
Happy to help🙏
The first thermal printer actually prints faster, when you reset the printer. Press and hold "stop"( until a beep), then, "mirror ", then "copy". Thanks for a great review video.
Good to know, thank you!
I don't know how long you have been tattooing, but I hope you get more well known in the industry. Really appreciate all the comparisons!
Thank you so much! I’ve been tattooing just over 3 years now.
Thank you so much for this detailed test! It's a super great video, and you are beautiful 😃
Thank you so much!
Thank you for your professional review. Special thanks for the bonus code. I immediately bought myself such a printer. The parcel contained transfer paper. The first tests were on it and I was very pleased with the result. I used Spirit paper in the studio but was disappointed. fine lines were not visible. I compared paper (no name) and Spirit. It seemed to me that the first one had a more glossy surface. Now I will look for a transfer paper that is glossier than Spirit. I will be glad to any advice
Great to hear! The Yilong paper I review here is very good, gets in the details and is a high gloss ink.
Thank you, for the comparison! I've seen Pony Lawson use an eco tank and just use stencil ink in the black fill tank. It seemed to work amazing.
No problem. I have been through 2 ecotank printers, because of the clogging problem I no longer use them. They are great when the work, although the stencil doesn't get quite as saturated or stick quite as well as the thermal printers.
@@FloatyTattoo that is very good information to have. Again, thank you, so much! I'm doing most of my stencils by hand right now because I'm new to tattooing, and I think it helps with improving my steadiness. I do have a thermal printer I bought from Temu, but I either haven't gotten the hang of using it or.....it might just be crap. 🤣
Great reviews! My old thermofax is having intermittent issues with internal switches, so looking to get a backup machine. Was leaning toward the Brother until you showed the ATS886. For the price and quality, it looks hard to beat.
Saved me a few hundred $ for sure. :)
Thanks
Glad I could help! Yeah I have been happily surprised by how well the ATS886 performs.
Thank you so much for this
Happy to help🙏
Thank you for the review
No problem 👍
I’ve definitely found the brother to be temperamental at times, but in that saying it does produce a solid stencil. I definitely recommend lining the image on procreate and printing that instead of original image. No solid black areas or will pinch and paper will fold up inside machine. Biggest issue was realizing my model doesn’t connect to iPad only android..makes for more work
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Hey! Loved the video. Question from a newbie. Does the Yilong require ink or is the paper sufficient?
Thank you, no problem. The Yilong does not require ink, it is already in the thermal transfer paper.
Just bought one because of you, we will see how it goes also used your code! Wish me luck with my new 886! ❤
That’s awesome, thank you! Good luck!
brother iprint&scan is the app, or maybe thet only works for the BT models
thanks for the discount...
Hi, can you test out the Ozer thermal printer next? It cost a bit more but it appears to capture the images with more accuracy. Your method of testing is excellent! Ty in advance! 🍻
I will reach out and see if they’ll send me one
Awesome video, Thanks.
Happy to help 🙏
How well do the stencils transfer to skin? That would be my only other test. Thank you for putting your time into these reviews
All of these transfer quite well to the skin, I have not had any issues there. I have found that Hold Fast transfer gel works best and holds the stencil the longest and works well with all of these papers. Happy to help!
@@FloatyTattoo thank you for the response , the S8 red I’ve had trouble with getting a good stencil on skin it’s always been too light . Personally I prefer the Spirit Green transfer paper for all around applications. Again thanks for responding
@@jasonkeenan4476 Yeah, I don't use the S8 very much, I just find the red harder to see most of the time. I haven't tried the Spirit green yet, I'll take a look at it, thanks for the info!
So for the 773, does using the printing app that Brother recommends make a difference? Or is your method that you used best? Also, does the power supply matter? I remember watching a video where an older man showcased all the different Pocketjet versions , and an issue that was mentioned was the stencil not coming out solid, and a fix for it was the power supply
I hadn't heard about the power supply, and I haven't used the app so I wouldn't know. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.
Im using brother pj773 for 5 years until now. Im editing my design in photoshop on my macbook for density and sizes
That’s a great setup, and if it works for you I wouldn’t change it.
returning the Atomus I just bought for the Yilong today
Good choice!
Anyone knows a paper that leave a black stencil on the skin ?
Yilong ats VS phomemo m08f. ??
Anyone have any experience or comments on the phomemo versus the yilong printer?
I sent my phomemo back
The brothers do have an app u can download that changes the density etc
That’s good to know, thanks!
Doesn’t help much, also the wrinkle pages is so annoying
Can you use Legal size thermal paper on the ATS886? Or any of other ones?
Legal size should work, not sure about other ones.
Thanks for your response.
Just go over the stencil with tape it will clean it up, big tip for you free of charge
Thank you🙏
Can you elaborate
Kneaded eraser works even better
Just pressing it that is*
Lint roller works best 👌
Beside the brother printer, can we resize the design with other printer?
Yes
got the ats and when I try to print the app just says "please close the flip" even though its already closed, also feed button wont do anything. Im assuming you never had this problem? I might just have to return it
Yes, I’ve not had this problem, sounds like a bad one, you should return it.
Do ya have to run the whole sheet on the ats?
Yes
What about gauging size though? I like the fact you preprint your image in normal paper to get the right size if gap filling etc between other tattoos ? Is it just a case of having to print several stencils ?
For sizing I use my regular printer and standard paper and cut it out. Then I print on stencil paper.
@@FloatyTattoo can you print to normal printer from the same app so it’s exactly the same size? I just ordered the printer last night been agonising over getting the brother v others so thank you for this video!
@@lilskullstattoos9372 no, but I have found that when I size my image in procreate/photos and bring it to the app it stays true to size, I have never had any major issues there, my standard workflow with a client is to have multiple sizes printed on plain paper when they come in, I number them so I know which one to grab from procreate, then I export just that one to photos and use the stencil app to get that exported photo and print that stencil.
@@FloatyTattoo got ya! I downloaded the app before and saw there’s a measuring system so I think the transition will be way easier than I thought. Thank you so much for your advice. It’s been a total head f trying to find another stencil printer!
Is that possible to use other papper to print it ( A4 papper)?
I'm not sure what you mean, do you mean A4 size or just standard white A4 paper?
@@FloatyTattoo yes standart white papper A4 i mean
@@tomiwiguna972 no that will not work with a thermal printer. You need thermal paper.
can i use photoshop to make prints with ats886 printer or only the ats886 app
Only the app. You can export your photoshop images and load them in the app.
thank you@@FloatyTattoo
Looks like your running into issues with US letter size paper and A4 international paper with regards to size as they are both slightly different sizes. Some printers will only print A4 paper size due to width set on the feed . The brother will print A4 and US letter sizes .
Thank you🙏
Also I forgot to thank you for the review as it was very informative
I have the pocket Jette and it’s so hard to connect to it
Yeah, it can be a hassle, I have no problems connecting to the ATS886
Using the yellow sheet makes the stencil a little bit faded but helps with the overburning of the page
IMO a lighter stencil is better as long as it's complete and not missing bits and pieces in lines
Good to know, thank you!
Hey, got one question
I have a Mast Fold Pro, theoretically it can go to 12 Volts and has adjustable stroke, but whenever I get over 11 volts it starts to rattle very badly and it's very limitative with the stroke, I found out it rattles less the lower the stroke is and depends how I adjust the needle depth as well
TLDR, do any of your machines start to rattle and vibrate badly ad 11-12 volts? Keep in mind it needs to have a cartridge in it, thanks@@FloatyTattoo
@@vhaleryanadamant1975 to be honest I don’t ever run my machines over 9 Volts, I’d be turning the skin into hamburger. I’ll have to test it out and get back to you.
Thank you, don't have to do it on skin, just with a cartridege, be it liner or magnum, and maybe test different strokes and let me know if the rattle ( if any ) goes worse on different adjusted strokes.
Thank you very much!@@FloatyTattoo
That’s it I’m sold I’m buying that 886
Good choice!
How’s your day experience with it been?
Can an amazon printer print from photoshop ?
Not directly, you have to print on regular paper first for that one. The other three printers you can print over WiFi/Bluetooth
Anyone tried the wormhole bluetooth printer compaired to the yilong?
I compare them at the end of my wormhole printer review, the Yilong is slightly better.
Thank you, have you tried the Phomemo TP81 upgraded yet? Sorry I didn't see if you did.
@@5mr1atx2 no, that one I have not.
Thank you I appreciate it!
I was getting ready to place the order for the yilong but the phomemo tp81 popped up and said it had higher ratings so now I'm back at a stand still
Wanted to order from yilong so you could get the commission, but Amazon would be a week faster and also can send back get a refund and just get another if it doesn't work out as I wanted.
@@5mr1atx2 I get commission from the Amazon link as well, whatever works best for you.
You don’t have to remove the yellow paper on the stigma
I tried that in my original unboxing and review of the Stigma but the prints came out very light.
I own the stigma and I've never removed the yellow paper. Being a realism tattooist do think it would be more beneficial for me to remove it bc I haven't been getting very good results with most of my realistic stencils.
@@claythomas1133 I would try printing without the yellow paper and setting it to light printing and see if that helps.
it's a great video, I really love the format. Only thing I would point out is that you are affiliated to Yilong, and unsurprisngly, you chose yilong's printer and paper to be the best.. How transparent was your opinion when you have a horse in the race? I think next time if you were affiliated to all 4 products then at least you wouldn't have an incentive to pick a brand over the other and can still make money, just an idea.
I actually have affiliate deals with all of these printers, so I would say it is a very fair comparison, I could have just picked the most expensive one to make the most off of if that was my incentive. I also show the results of all of the printers here and I think it is pretty clear which of these printers perform the best.
Imagine being this clueless. She's affiliated with all. And these companies will eagerly send their products to anyone on youtube, even people with barely any subs. She was being as honest as she could.. Printing them all side by side
@@DeeP-_PerspectivE thank you🙏
If you tattoo on fake skin can you reuse the needles ??. Obviously not on skin
Dumb question actually I was just wondering if anyone else did. Probably no
Not a dumb question, I had it early on. The truth is yes you can to a certain extent but the needles get dull/bent over time and that happens faster on fake skin than human skin. I have found 5-7 hours to be the maximum you can get out of a needle, smaller groupings and cheaper brands dull faster. To save them in between sessions you need to keep the ink from drying as well, distilled water in a cup works decently. Again this is of course all for fake skin, human skin you should be using fresh needles every time (I know you know this I just like to cover myself answering questions online)
what do you recomnend
The Yilong ATS886
@@FloatyTattoothank you for your review.i am already cancelled my stigma printer right now.
and i order ats printer
Ill be getting the ATS866 too. Thank yous so much
tried to use spirit paper on my yilong ats886 and it just chews it up completely... although the generic amazon and the provided papers work fine.
That’s strange. It works great with my Spirit Paper, yours might be a different size.
@@FloatyTattoo omg you’re right, it is slightly wider and goes like 3mm above the “210” mark on the printer
edit: by cutting the paper it still chews it all up and pulls inside from both sides. unfortunate. :(
@@tracked24 I'm sorry to hear that, it may be an issue with the printer and not the paper, you should contact them about trading it in for a new one.
@@FloatyTattoo no it’s definitely the paper, I have the same issue which is confusing! The spirit paper you are using seems different still, is it the “classic thermal paper” you are using?
@@user-su1gm5uf2l I see, yes it is the classic thermal.
My Epson EcoTank is not printing anything after 1,5 year even tho i printed every 2 days and last 3 months every day, did you manage to workout warranty on the Epson?
Never again Epsons thats for sure, time for thermal printer.
Yep, that was my conclusion.
@@FloatyTattoo Did you apply for warranty?
93 :)
You need the mirror on, now the stencil will be backwards
I know, I just kept it that way to show the designs for the video. Thanks 🙏
Does that mean the 1 stencil that u printed that was mirrored is good? or just for video purposes?@@FloatyTattoo
@@yes-sk8my yes it is a good stencil. You can print mirrored or regular through the app, whichever makes sense for what you are doing.
For the price the brother printer should be crispy hd compared to the others... Instead it is just a little better than the other two. What a scam
Yep, it used to be one of the best thermal printers you could find under 900$, but these tattoo companies are stepping up their game with better products at lower prices.
brother have sell all history all printers owerprice, too expensive and quality have 100$ printer level. f brother cot ower 400$ better buy epson ecotank printer little cheapen about 250-300 but 200x better printer. need buy only stencil ink.
Brother is overpriced and overcomplicated and overrated
It is good for lines ngl, very crisp, stigma one is good for more shaded pics but the lines are not so crisp, rather thick
The ATS one seems pretty cool never tried it
Spot on! Also great profile picture!
Hey so, realistically speaking, is the ATS the best you would recommend over brother and Stigma one? I Feel the Stigma one makes the lines a little bit too thick and too faded, brother sucks at shading, ATS seems balanced but it has barely 4 stars on any Aliexpress review. What is your opinion? Thanks@@FloatyTattoo
@@vhaleryanadamant1975 the ATS is definitely the best, I used the brother for a year and it is good, but the ATS beats it in every way hands down. It has the best resolution, prints fastest, and the app is very useful.
Thank you very much! Also, sorry to bother again, but can you connect it to the PC as well? Because truth be told, nothing beats the comfort of adjusting a stencil on a PC@@FloatyTattoo
@@vhaleryanadamant1975 no worries, I haven’t tried it on PC because I do everything on my iPad, but it does say it supports Windows and MacOS
does this tatoo actualy aply on the skin? this video would be useful if you aply the tatoos on someone. 46 minutes wasted
Yes, all of these work great on skin, this video was to compare print quality, any of these prints will transfer to skin using a stencil solution.
Look at the title clown, literally says she’s comparing the printers 🤡
